READ THOSE LABELS.

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

I DIDN't: Evidently I was hungry when I went shopping @ Trader Joe's last week. I bought his TMings ckn/veg. wonton soup.

I usually make homemade soup, & I never use salt. I use NO SALT for everything.

I made my Wonton soup today- looked forward to it. THEN after tasting it I read the label: 1060mg Sodium. OMG. Almost a whole days worth of salt in one bowl.

I drained the broth & just ate the dumplings/vegetable....I hope I was able to eliminate maybe half the NA-. I'll never buy that again- even as good as it tasted....just because of the sodium in it.

Come on Trader Joe's.....U know that too much salt is NOT good for us.....especially us Americans ....who are already obese and have hypertension to begin with. emoticon

I always shop at Trader Joe's & Whole Foods because they are the healthy, organic, local providers and look out for their customers health too. emoticon Just like those GMO - u r fighting against; and asking for labeling (I hope).

I EARNED 20 PTS. ON A BONUS SPIN OF THE WHEEL- the most i've gotten in one spin.

Had my family over for dinner- unplanned, last minute- yet was able to make a healthy meal for all. Made homemade ckn noodle (quinoa noodles), organic spring mix salad with avocado, homemade cucumber sweet pickles. Baked white ruffy from Trader Joe's. Organic steamed butternut squash and steamed broccoli stems/florets. Everyone was happy with the meal. emoticon emoticon

Veteran receives Honor.

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Finally, 63 years after WWII & Korean Wars ended, my 87 yo father, Leo G.
Kaske, Jr. received his Medals - 8 in all. + 1 from his local congressman @ the nursing home he's in for rehab after fx. hip & hand. Family and friends present for the presentation by veterans rep. from the Congressman's office. Thankyou to all who made this event a memorable one for my Dad and his family.

Since my dad's military records from both the US Army and US Air Force were destroyed in a fire in 1973; this was a 3 yr. endeavor to obtain his
awards due him. emoticon emoticon emoticon
