Out of Town & Mother's Day

Monday, May 09, 2011

Wednesday is my 6th week of maintenance with WW. I was hoping that I would be within my goal and will become a Lifetimer. I'm still hoping, but a little concerned. I was out of town last Wed - Fri. at a training seminar for work. I made some good choices and some not so good ones. What is it about "free" food?! It was so nice to not have to plan/prepare, that I went a little overboard. Every meal had a "dessert" and then there were breaks with more food. I did better than I would have in the past. I stayed away from the breaks by just grabbing a bottle of water and taking a walk. We were in Newport, RI, which is a beautiful place and the hotel was right on the bay and across the street from the shopping/historic district, so it was a walking paradise (cold though for my Southern bones!). I also didn't want to loose any momentum for my C25K, so I did my Thursday program on the treadmill (didn't really like that, but I did it). Got back on track Saturday and then came Mother's Day. Had a nice brunch at my sister's house and then my husband grilled out a nice dinner for me. Couldn't stay away from the desserts again and my portions were out of control.

Anyway, at least now I have a track to get back on. Ate my usual breakfast, packed my lunch this morning and will be busy tonight with kids/etc. - so I'll have a quick, healthy dinner. I won't have time to eat more than my P+, plus the dessert is gone!

Time will tell, but my scale still shows me within my goal. So we'll see on Wednesday's WI!

Maintenance & C25K Part III

Thursday, April 28, 2011

I just weighed in last night for my 4th week of maintenance with WW. I stayed the same and am still 1 lb. below my goal weight, so I'm good. 2 more weeks and I'll be a Lifetimer! I must admit, it was a little disappointing to not loose, even though my goal now is to maintain. Mentally it wasn't the same. I stayed for the meeting and I realized how much I liked getting the recognition when I would loose weight. Kinda pathetic, but I was a little disappointed again that I wasn't getting any recognition (Loser!) Anyway, I still plan to weigh in each week and attend meetings when I can. I definitely need the accountability of the weekly WI.

Also started week 3 of C25K. We ran 4 min. 5 X on Tuesday. We tried that on Monday and was not able to do all five 4-min. runs. We could only do 3 4-min. and 2-3 min. I was very excited that I was able to do it Tuesday. It was really hot & humid on Monday and Tuesday was a little cooler with a nice breeze, so that might have helped. Tonight's run is a little weird. I don't remember the exact breakdown, but I do remember there's a 5 min. run in there somewhere! I think I've mentioned this before, but I'm glad that I paid for this program with the parks department, because I would have quit by now. It's hard! But I'm actually starting to feel a little like a runner. Thankfully after the storms we had last night, tonight will be nice & breezy!

Maintenance & C25K Part II

Thursday, April 21, 2011

3 weeks of maintenance with WW has been interesting. The first 2 weeks, I lost another 2lbs. At weigh in last night, I gained 1 lb. This still leave me below my goal weight - so I'm o.k. with it. I don't, however, want to go over my goal weight. Still trying to get a good balance. I was a little surprised with the gain and a little disappointed (I guess). While I was loosing on WW, I never had a gain (6 months), so it was a little odd and now I have a little of the "panic" mode setting in. I'm not going to change anything - I know there are a lot of reasons the scale shows a gain. My eating is fine and my exercise has increased and boy do I drink enough water! So I'll just stick to what has worked.

Speaking of exercise - I started a C25K program at a local park last week. A student PE teacher and track coach is doing it and she's great (young & enthusiastic!). We did the 1 min. run/1 min. walk (10 X) last week on Tues/Thur with the group and then I did the 2 min. run/2 min. walk (8 x) on my own Sunday. Repeated that one on Tuesday. I've been a very active walker for the past 4 months (3 1/2 miles 3-4 x week), but that 2 min. run nearly killed me! It wasn't pretty, but I did it! Tonight we do a 3 min. run/2 min. walk! I'm glad I joined this program (and paid for it), because I think if I was doing this on my own, I would have quit - and we haven't even gotten to the hard part! I'm doing it with my daugher & sister and since I've paid, I'm sticking to it. I really want to be able to run the 5K we signed up for in June!

Maintenance & C25K

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

I reached my goal on 3/31. The first week of maintenance I lost .8 lbs. WI is tonight, so we'll see. With WW, you're supposed to add 5 P+ for maintenance. I was a little hesitant to do that right away, so I've been slowly adding them in. When I was loosing, I didn't use my WP's and only some of my AP'S (mostly for special occasions). This worked for me, so I'm doing that with maintenance too. I'm a little nervous about maintaining, but I think if I continue with the weekly WI's and classes and exercise, I should do o.k. (plus I had to buy all new clothes and I can't afford to buy more if I go up in size!).

I also started a C25K program last night at a local park. My consistent walking program the past couple of months had me above the "couch" status, so I didn't struggle with the 1 min. runs (10 times). We'll continue with that on Thursday - but our "homework" is to increase to a 2 min. run (8 times) which is what we'll be up to on Tuesday. I think this will be a great program and will be a challenge. I'm glad I joined a class because 1 - I paid for it, so I'm more inclined to do it and 2 - it's nice to have a group and a coach who knows what she's talking about. She's actually a student teacher at my daughter's HS and her PE teacher. My daughter decided to join, so she's going with me tomorrow! emoticon

I Did It!

Thursday, March 31, 2011

Finally! I reached my Goal! After 6+ months, I reached my Weight Watchers goal! I lost 40.6 lbs. I get a little surprised even now that I actually had to loose that much just to get comfortably within my healthy range.

I now have 6 weeks of maintenance and I can be a Lifetime Member. I was so excited - I got my little charm and I got to wear the tiarra for the meeting. I'm a little nervous about maintenance, so I'm going to ease into my extra P+ and keep going to my meetings. I found that I definitely need the accountability of the weekly WI at the meetings. I am also starting a C25K program at a local park, so I know I'll have incentive to keep up the walking!
