She's got .... personality

exercise personality that is! take the quiz for yourself
www.sparkpeople.com/resource/
slideshow.asp?show=72&page=2

Mine was split between B & D:

Mostly B's: Social Sweater
You are most motivated to move when there are others moving right along with you. Bringing your friends along (or making new friends) during exercise helps you stay motivated and accountable, and makes fitness fun for you!

Mostly D's: Adventurous Exerciser
You like your workouts to be an experience. Whether you're running a themed race or hanging out at the rock wall with friends, you love integrating fitness with your leisure time.

I would say that both are correct. I am more motivated with other people otherwise, I can (and usually do) find excuses not to go out in the heat and walk. emoticon

But with that being said, I will get bored easily so I do like a challenge (knees willing) and will do my best to fit it into my leisure time.

Straight A's here - "Multitasking Mover" and not a close call.

BTW the link seems broken somehow.

Hey Starryeyed, what is the 100 Days of Summer Challenge anyway?!?

Being productive on a hot day

Saturday, June 30, 2012

First thing (7AM) this morning, I started the laundry and clothes were on the deck drying racks within the hour. By 9:30, the second load was going out and we were off to Costco. Lots of people are without power due to the overnight storms so, we were feeling really fortunate to have it.

Arriving home, I started up the grill and had the onions, beets and zucchini in the metal roasting pan outside. same effect as Kabobs without all the hassle of trying to skewer the veggies. emoticon

Made a spark recipe with some added Chelsea touches because that is what I do. The fennel and potato soup was made in a crock pot with homemade veggie broth instead of bouillon and I added in fresh, chopped leeks & fresh herbs. My husband came into the kitchen as the grilled veggies sat on the stove and I was distributing the soup into containers to freeze. "Potato soup ... can I have some and I'll put some of this (grilled veggies) in it too." His only comment was .... needs more pepper.

Sauteed some cabbage and made the mushroom ragout which was simply divine. Then made a salad with the rest of the mix we had from this week's CSA and cole slaw.

Since I am not a mayonnaise fan which in this heat is probably a good thing, my dressing comes out a bit sweet and sour. olive oil, vinegar with ginger, horseradish, honey and some fresh ground pepper and sea salt.

CSA week 6: Anise

Thursday, June 28, 2012

So black licorice fans ... It is here: Fennel!

this weeks bounty included this italian veggie along with vidalia Onion, red potatoes, swiss chard, spearmint, beets, green & red leaf mix lettuce, cucumber, and leeks.

when I brought my box home and saw the wispy green stalks sticking out of the top; my first thought was dill. Then I pulled it out and I saw that it was Anise ( or fennel). Hmmm, what can we do with that?

So Let's discover Fennel together, shall we? www.cookinglight.com/food/in-
season/discovering-fennel-00400000001166/

and look there is a recipe for potato, leek and fennel soup which I think that I will try.

-potato-soup-10000000521640/
but of course, substituting the chicken broth with veggie broth.

A non-Food blog entry

Monday, June 25, 2012

I will be off on another camping adventure on Tuesday afternoon and out in the woods until sunday.

I usually go with friends because my husband does not camp. He claims to have been traumatized by the boy scouts on a rainy weekend in a tent with no floor at a young age and then there was that Vietnam tour. Although, I assured him that yes, I have a floor in my tent and that there is no one shooting at us in the woods; he always gives me a kiss as I head out the door. oh well, No S'mores for him! actually, none for me either being vegetarian and all.

Anyway, I have been home for one week from the last trip and the poison oak is clinging to my left ankle with all its might. I guess that I will have to give in to the cortisone shots and stop by the Patient First on the way home from work this evening.

You might not want to know this but there are vegetarian marshmallows. I've seen them at Whole Foods.
