Sparky Water Meme

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

The following conversation just occurred and it all started with Boss61 .....
**ring ring**
hello?
Are you at work?
yes.
Oh, ok. I will be quick. do you have a minute?
yes, quickly. I am just sitting here drinking my sparky water.
Sparky water, what is that?
Water to help you lose weight.
really? where did you get it?
** laugh** it is water for spark people.
What? spark people? who is that?
it is a website for losing weight and everyone who goes there is a spark person.
Oh. how much does it cost?
Nothing.
so, where do you get this sparky water?
**laugh** Betty, it is just water. if you drink water instead of other stuff, it should help you to lose weight.
Oh. I guess so.

husband: greatest supporter or Nemesis?

Friday, April 13, 2012

My husband is very sweet and really has patience with me and my activities. Such as when I volunteer with a local animal rescue group and have 9-6' long tables in the living room for 1-2 days awaiting transport to the weekend clinic.

He also doesn't say too much when I decide to get a clipper cut and bleach the front of my hair (which is longer). I was tired of the mostly grey dark brown, you see. after a couple of weeks, he just says," you know, I liked your hair darker."

Then there are those times such as yesterday afternoon when he stops at Costco. he brings home a large box of Cinnabons.

So this morning, I was drinking my OJ and thinking about a bowl of cheerios when he cuts one these buns from the box and asks if I want one. If you are not familiar with Cinnabons, one serving is the size of a saucer plate and about 800 calories. I opt for 1/2 of his.

However, I did resist the temptation until he heated it in the microwave and added a dab of fresh butter.

**sigh** At least I only had half.

That is such a tough temptation. I usually have a piece of my husbands as well. Usually the last bite so I don't have to stare at the rest as he eats it. Mmmmm.... Cinnabon.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho it was off to work y'know

Monday, April 09, 2012

ok, so I wasn't whistling while clinging to trees 15 feet off the ground but I was working. It was the annual set up for summer camping where I go in PA. I was climbing ladders and stringing tarps, putting together plastic shelving for the camp kitchen, setting up lantern hangers along the forest path and clearing away of poison ivy and fallen debris.

before that even started, I cleaned, swept and waterproofed the camping platform. I camp on the side of a hill on a wooden platform which is ground level on one side and then there is an 8 foot drop on the other side.

Since I do not partake in this type of physical labor everyday, my body is sore and I went to bed early last night. Today I will be taking it a bit easier.

The question is how does one log this type of exercise into the tracker?

Oh I haven't been camping in way too long...
Your question is a good one. You could search under cardio on your fitness tracker for heavy cleaning or gardening. Or you could just use the Quick Track and log the minutes and type in the activity.
I am going to start planning a camping trip. LOL
Have fun.

Good question. Well at least you know you got your exercise in! I miss camping and would like to do it very soon! Maybe once the weather gets a little warmer :)

To Spend or Not to Spend .... That indeed is the question!

Monday, April 02, 2012

I have belonged to three gyms in the part several years and have only really enjoyed one of them, The Racquet and Fitness club. It is a really nice place with a pool, a juice bar, sauna and whirlpools, fully stocked lockers (soap, shampoo, single use makeup, hair dryers, etc.) and members that were really friendly. I left there to join a gym with a comparable price but much closer to home. The racquet club is about 15 miles one way and the other is only 3.5 miles and this was basically my only reason for wanting to switch.

The new one advertised water aerobics and yoga but that never materialized. Their pool was outside although the grand opening promised an inside pool and the members were generally rude esp. in the pool area. I am not a power swimmer but I do some laps and will use a kick board to work both my legs and upper body. I ended up being banned from the pool for interfering with other members workouts but what about mine. In addition, I had to take everything with me: towels, shampoo, soap, etc. So, I canceled and trust me when I say that the exit interview they insisted I have was not altogether a happy one.

Then curves came to town and I would rush there before closing to do the circuit. I kept it up for about 6 months but I was getting bored with the same thing and I wasn't losing weight. So, once again, I canceled my membership.

Then planet Fitness shows up and I tried it however, the bored factor set in quickly and I stopped going. All I ever did was walk on the treadmill so, to avoid paying for something that I didn't use; I canceled my membership. I tried to walk around my neighborhood but that did not last very long either. I just can't seem to keep motivated by myself.

I have a gazelle at home that I use regularly but I just have not been seeing any weight lose results with it. I would think that 1/2 hour a day would do something.

Now there is a brand new LA Fitness at most 1 mile from my house. I looked at the website and they have a pool, swim aerobics, and spinning. All low impact exercises that I need because of bad knees plus a spa and sauna. I am tempted to join but also somewhat afraid that my pool experience will be bad.

I guess a tour of the place would not hurt.

Sorry you had such bad experiences, I too have found that gyms have a personality that either work for me or don't. It could not hurt to try it out LA Fitness usally has some sort of pretty cheap offer to try it out for a week to a month to see if it is a good fit. Good luck.
