Last night I had Whole Kitchen Currant & Pumpkin seed Toasted Pasta for dinner. The main ingredient is Millet. You know what Millet is they are the tiny seeds in the wild bird food mix that they birds kick all over the ground. emoticon

I must admit that at first I was skeptical but it was very tasty and hearty meal. No sauce was even needed. The savory mix of seeds, dried fruit and nuts was very filling and it had taken only 15 mins to prepare. I am very much looking forward to trying their other foods, seasonings and salad toppings most are vegan and some are gluten free.

However, one does not have to be vegan or have celiac disease to enjoy these foods. My husband who "doesn't eat vegetarian food" actually liked it.

Wholesome Kitchen is a small business in NY ... Yes, folks it is Made in the USA .... and they have a nice website describing all their products but there is no shopping basket, cart or bag to be found. I also can not locate a place locally to purchase their foods either.

So, how did I come upon the Toasted Pasta, you ask. Well, I purchase my cosmetics from DHC and upon accumulating points, I received it as a "free" gift. We all know what "free" means .... purchase lots of cosmetics and we give you a point, not exactly free is it? Oh well, I really do use the stuff and I gotta eat. emoticon

Anyway, have a look at their website .... ... and perhaps you too will have the urge to email the company to inquire about when they will incorporate a shopping function on their website. I certainly would not mind. emoticon


Corporate Grazing

Almost every day there is a corporate meeting or training in which catered breakfast or lunch is brought in. Once the meeting/training is complete, all the left overs are brought into the main lunchroom which happens to be mere steps from my desk. Lucky me!

So although no one twists my arm to go eat, the food generally is from Panera Bread (soups, salads and sandwiches) or one of the local restaurants in little italy. In fact just moments ago, they brought in 2 large trays of cheese lasagna with sun dried tomato and herb bread.

Although I had homemade Ratatouille and low fat yogurt 2 hours ago for lunch and then went for a 1/2 mile walk; I could not resist a very small piece of lasagna and bread.

I try to be good. Really I do.

    I used to have the same desk! I ate SO much cake that year(!).

    Concrete recommendations:

1. Drink the Sparky water

2. Eat the lunch you bring from home, early-ish, before the goodies come out. East at your desk.

3. Go for a walk around the time that the goodies come out. If you are still there, leave immediately when the goodies come out.

4. Use the nutrition tracker in here as though it is the Soup Nazi.

You will be fine... !

working at the harbor

Since I have been working at the Inner Harbor, I definitely am getting more exercise. I take the light rail to the city and then will walk the 8 blocks to my building or if the weather is bad, I catch the free city shuttle.

At lunch, the promenade is directly across the street so, it has been very convenient to get out and walk. Today, I walked about 10 blocks to a vegan restaurant for lunch and then caught the shuttle back because I was pressed for time and coming my way.
