A no count calorie day

Monday, June 25, 2012

As I do every year I attended the Safeway BBQ Battle. For those who have never been there before. It is 5 city blocks full of food. Much of it is free samples to taste. There is a food line that basically give a full extra large plate of samples, if you are willing to stand in the long line on a hot day emoticon. The year samples was the best samples.

I was going to sample everything. Even bought a tray to carry all the samples. Lamb Chops, Hot Dogs, chunks of chicken and steaks, potato chips, ice cream, almonds, juice, tea, soda, flavored water, on and on. I was giving myself a no count calorie day. emoticon

Still out of all the food on my tray, I ate my salad and watermelon first, unlike years before. I tried the diet soda and liked it. I tried all the "healthier choice" samples. I food out quite a few of them could replaced the high cal, high fat and high foods in my diet. I also brought my (baked) chips and other snacks home.

While I wasn't just sitting are eating, I walking and dancing to the music, I still know I probably overdid it. A bite of steak here a taste of chicken here all add up after a while. I still give myself a little pat. I didn't get funnel cake, fried onion rings or the chocolate covered bacon. I walked past several snack taste. I drunk my 10 cups of water too.

Most of what I ate was cooked on the grill and were cube size pieces, but since I wasn't tracking I don't know how many cal. I went over. However 3 no count calorie days per year is fine. Plus my other two day, Thanksgiving and Xmas will be much healthier this year. So I don't feel the least bit guilty about the BBQ.

Even with this I still lost 3 lbs this week. Every Blue Moon it is all right to have a no count calorie day. emoticon

I tied my shoes all by myself

Friday, June 22, 2012

emoticon This is not something you usually hear from a 44 year old, but for me kneeling do to tie my own shoes use to be a trial. I had to sit down and bring my foot up to me. And when we're out someone else, usually my daughter or grandson, had to tied them for me.

The other day I was out and they came untied. It was a emoticon day. I was feeling like I could do anything. Besides I was tired of tripping over them. I said to myself, "I've been working out. My legs are stronger. Maybe I can. Then that emoticondark voice spoke, " You are going to fall on your butt. You can't do it."

For a moment I listen, but then I almost fell. Then I realized that falling on my butt because I Tried to tied them was better then not trying. So I tried. And for the first time in years I tied my shoes all by myself.

I know this is a baby step to most but to me this is a step on the moon to me. I almost cried in the store. Seeing my clothes get looser is great. Doing things that had been difficult for me or trying new things is greater. Have more belief in myself and trying to do better is the greatest.

I don't know how this post would have turned out if I had fallen. Right now I just want to celebrate this success. And to have a reminder to keep trying those times when I do fall.

Keep Trying. Take Chances. Become Stronger and Better emoticon

Sometimes it's the little victories that mean the most!

Just now I was sitting here reading this, and I rested my chin on my palm and realized that my face feels thinner...I can feel my jawline much more than I used to be able to when resting in this position! Yay!

Keep up the good work and enjoy those moments of victory! You've earned them! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
