Everything is fresh and new and about to be organized

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

I am trying to get a job and waiting on a couple of schools to set up interviews and waiting for one school to either reject me or offer me a job (I was called back for a second interview so I think it is promising).

While I wait I have been cleaning the house and decluttering.

The changes in my body (-20 pounds) have sparked a desire to have a less cluttered life.

Today I cleaned out my closet and have a full garbage bag of clothes to donate. And threw out a couple of pairs of nasty shoes. I need a couple of pairs of new shoes to be able to work. I think I am okay for clothes for a little while but all that will change as I lose weight.

I am getting a bunch of clutter out of my bedroom and moving all my scrapbooking stuff to the den. This is a major reorganization but I hope to be done before school starts.

The boys rooms are done and I think they are ready for school...I'll do another sweep through their clothes (I did it at the end of school too). I still need to paint my older boy's room (it was supposed to be his birthday present back in February). Maybe Labor Day weekend I'll have my dh take the boys out of town to the beach and I'll stay back and paint.

Sunshine on a rainy day

I am so lucky to have my husband and two boys. My husband is just the best. Let me count the ways...

1. He jumps right in and does what is needed. I have so many friends who have husbands who wait for them to cook. So grateful that my husband is showing my boys that men are not helpless in the kitchen and can pull a meal together.

2. He watched me lose weight all of May and he joined me in the middle of June and has really become a great support.

3. He is a great Dad.

I could go on and on but mainly he puts up with me!

August life goals

Work: first-- secure employment as a teacher's assistant.
Then--develop a two year action plan for meeting the requirements to renew and reinstate my teaching certificate that I let expire while being a stay at home mom for the last ten years.

Hobby...become a master gardener in one season (just being funny, enjoy learning something new and growing fresh vegetables in our row at the community garden), stop letting the memory of the mean girls ruin scrapbooking for me and get back into scrapbooking. Have a semi regular family karaoke night at home just for fun.

Health...continue heathy eating and losing weight and try to enjoy walking more by using audio books and new musical playlists that i will enjoy. Use my yoga DVD twice a week. I need glasses that actually work (I am referring to the reading/near vision part of my bifocals...I just never have been able to make that work for me).

A moment of Olympic funny

Sunday, July 29, 2012

We watched the opening ceremonies and have been watching the swimming closely and other events randomly. Both of my boys are on a year round swim team. My younger son is seven. He started going on and on about how he wants the next Olympics in our hometown so that he can go to all the swimming, gymnastics and as many other events as he can fit in.

I told him that the tickets just to the opening ceremonies were $2600.00.

He said, "Well,....I can see how Michelle can afford them, but that is a lot of money."

I had to think for a moment and then replied, "Are you on a first name basis with the First Lady of the United States?"
-----

He has always been a funny kid. When he was 3 he was taking swim lessons and the instructors name was Michelle. He started calling her Chip. We explained her name was Michelle and he insisted that her name was Chip. Michelle went with it and let him call her Chip...and the next thing you know everyone is calling her Chip...all the lifeguards and swim instructor staff. I will never know why he thought she was Chip and not Michelle.

----

Good day today. I took an hour walk (6 laps around our pond) that is the longest time and most number of laps I have done since joining Spark People in early May. I have only been a sporadic walker but I have slowly increased from about 25 minutes and 2 times around to an hour and 6 laps. I have one playlist on my iTouch songs from Glee, Wicked and Rock of Ages (broadway not movie) which are fun. I am working on another playlist or two to mix things up.
