Just sometimes

You know just sometimes a person has to get away from the every day hustle and bustle life. As for me, where would I go to hide out for 15 mins. When my children was younger I can remember taking long baths, my skin was always so soft and never had callous on my heels. Now that they are grown, I can't even find the time to put the stopper in the tub. Now that just crazy!
Sometimes, would even just take road trips with my husband, go out to the woods drive around and see all the wildlife standing on the side of the roads looking at you, they were probably thinking "ha you can't touch me" where did those times go. I am not as busy as I was 10 years ago, nor as young. Just sometimes I believe we get into our comfort zone, if you ask me that is one subject my parents never spoke to me on about if you fall into that area, how would you get out of it. It just isn't as easy as people say it is, takes a lot of work and a lot of motivation to get out of that zone and STAY OUT! That zone is a silent killer. Even sometimes it is not okay to go there, consider it a gray area.
This is something I am really trying my hardest to stay away from and to get my DH out of it. Since I am deeply in love with him, I want him around just as long as I am.
Now, it's time to learn to plug the tub, all this housework and tv watching, computer usage and cell phone texting can wait 30 more minutes. In case of an emergency, knock on front door.

Being a mother of 3, step mom of 2, and a grandmother of 1, a wife to a needy, but loving husband, my days go by quickly. Having a home to run, bills to manage, entertaining my youngest daughter and her friends for the summer, yard work, and grocery shopping, where can I find the extra time to put in several hours on a slow computer to maintain my spark people points and trackings. Any suggestions send them my way.
In the meantime I have learned one vital piece of information I would like to share.
Here it is.... If at any point you are feeling overwhelmed remember this, an overwhelmed feeling leads to anxiety which in turns leads to that annoying empty feeling in the top part of your stomach which triggers your brain to thinking it needs food.
Remedy..., slow down, calm down, take a deep breath,analyze the situation "is it worth getting all worked up over?". Most likely not, then think about your last meal, has it been with in 3 hours since you last ate? most likely. After you calm down and breathe, if you need a healthy snack go for it. The feeling of being overwhelmed is not worth gaining that extra pound or two. Hope everyone finds their weekend a great one and stay cool.

I am 44 years old, I have 3 children of my own and 2 step children along with 1 grandson. This should be packaged full of blessings, in my case, nothing but stress - days on end. Not saying I don't love all my children bc I do, very, very much. I have raised my children to be independent, to be able to stand on there own, to be able to fend for themselves and to be honest individuals. Then I think, was I wrong to teach them these things....hmmm, I don't know. Being a single mom raising 3 beautiful & wonderful children it was majorly tough.
Now since the economy is a rocky road my children are not wanting to succeed as hard. The oldest of my children is 25, she was fired from her first long time position back in March, now with a new position at a well known company, in which she starts Monday, she speaks only of " I think I can" That just tells me that her self esteem has dropped :( I don't ever remembering to teach her I can't and phrasing that up " I think I can" tells me she saying I can't in the end. Bring on the ice cream!!
My son, which will be 21 in December, has become so wishy washy, that I don't even know who he is anymore. After graduating in 2010, he took it up on himself to go out and have intercourse with a young lady bc he is now a big time a graduate ( high school that is), he knows what he is doing and doesn't need parental advice to make good choices in life anymore. One month later, he shows up with this young lady, asking " What do we do, mom?" Hmm.... I look at them both then gently asked them " what do you think your options are?" They both glazed at each other, then turned to me and said, " We want to have the baby" Ok then, are you willing to get married? or are you just saying you want to have to baby then give it up for adoption? They say "Marriage" Okie dokie, really hard for mom to swallow that her baby boy will be getting married at the age of 17 and becoming a father at 18. Wow, crazy life, that's not even the kicker here. They still have to tell her mom and then convince her mom to give up her rights and sign her over to my son. (she was only 16) I thought I had alot to swallow. So bring on the brownies!!!
During, all this and going on to 9 months later, where is this young girls mom?, No where near her during the whole pregnancy, I felt led to be there for her. 16 year old girls do not need to go through this part of life without a mother, so for 9 months I held the hand of my son's wife and we all gave birth to a baby boy! Now I can add another child to my family tree, just so excited. Then mom decides she wants to be a part of her daughter's and grandson's life, so I step back. Bring on the cheeseburgers!!
After a year with momma, her mom decides she's moving out of state with an old boyfriend and won't be back. That young lady's heart is broken again. Returning back to mother n law she comes, baby and all. My son on the other hand, has now decide he too, wants to leave this young lady. I am at my wit's end, now I am here, trying hold down a full time job, raise my youngest daughter (8) and keep things held together in the family. I reassure my son that he is a husband and father, that he can do this. I guess he has bit off more then he can chew, kids are not meant to be parents. (don't mean to offend anyone) Gaining about 20 pounds during the year.
Then, bring it on, we find out that my step daughter decides to secretly get married. The only daughter my husband has. To watch my husband (who he has raised both kids on his own) just go into a down mode, broke my heart. Knowing that he has never done anything to those kids to cause pain like this. Just devastating! Bring on more brownies, save some for husband.
My husband's oldest child, doesn't say or do much, he is very reserved. I think back to when I came into this family, he was going into his senior year of school. Due dad new wife and kids, we had a lot of scrunching to do in the house. So he moves to his mother's home, where he had no rules. This boy is genius, scoring as high as one can in school, on SAT's, ACT's, and many others. Now, he sits at the computer day in and day out playing video games, he has no job and no desire to get a job....Why? He dropped out of school, 3 months prior to graduating high school. He is ashamed, we try to build his self esteem up and his mother turns around and tears right back down. He is now 24, still praying.
See it doesn't matter, who or how you raise your children, there will always be someone more challenging cross their paths and knock them down. It is you that has to pick them up, dust them off and send them encouraging thoughts their way, or you too will also be affected. Physically and emotional it might bounce back to you.
In the past 8 years married to my husband, I have gained close to 50 lbs. Just from emotional eating, the stress, pressure and worries of so many lives at hand here. Much more to these stories and each one brought me a piece of cake.

Passed or not?

I wanted to go back driving a school bus for financial reasons. Have been really nervous about being able to complete all the physical requirements for the job. As of today, I am now a employee of the school district~I passed my DOT physical!! emoticon
Then as I am getting my weight check, the nurse tells me what my weight was....196 lbs. I jumped for joy, she stops, turns around and looks at me like I was weird or something. LOL So YES, even the slightest change in weight feels GREAT! In all, it was actually 2 lbs less then when I weighed at home this morning.....so even more exciting!
I do believe in keeping track of what you eat and when you eat, for me, it is starting to show after 3 1/2 weeks.
This is going to be a great school year.

    Thanks Rockman for the inspiring words. I am not sure what has happened this past week except I have been way off track. :( Between cooking for my step daughters 21st birthday and eating so many bad foods and not having time to work out other then cleaning house. I have really been terrible! But you know I still feel good, I still feel as if my tummy bulge is getting flatter & still feel lighter then I use to be. Could that be a sign of I am not too far off track.? A little twist in daily routine to get back where I should be. Maybe? Now is the time to see if that is what I need.

You can't go wrong tracking your food, it makes you accountable and provides you with the tools to lose weight in a sensible fashion. Honestly, tracking food has been a godsend for me in my path!

Hi, my name is Christy. I started sparks for the second time now within the past 2 years. This is is different then before. I have had a lot of medical issues that I am not sure what the causes of them are, but I know in my heart that I can beat this by losing the weight. The motivation I get from sparks people reminds me to stretch daily, do some type of exercise instead of moping around the house wishing I could. In a song it says....."my body says I can't, and my mind says oh yes you can" That used to be me until the scales at the doctors office said 205 lbs, I knew a change had to be done.     As it has been nearly 3 weeks since I started spark, I have lost almost 3 lbs thinking that's not bad for me. I have gotten the meals, carbs, calorie intake, fats and all other items pretty much on track. I know what I can eat and what I can't eat. I know that I have to work out everyday to stay on track. I have noticed the inches are disappearing around my waist and I don't have that extra, extra fat role over my waistband. Just the extra is there emoticon I am really having fun with this, being creative is not me but being creative with spark menus they have turned out great. Thank you everyone for your positive words and encouragement.

    Good luck. A lot of positive self talk help me.

Also taking one step at a time worked for me. I started with just staying in my calorie range and studying the carb, protein and fat information but not worrying about it. Then I added trying to stay in the ranges for those three in addition to the calories (I don't beat myself up if I don't but most of the time I am real close, if not in the ranges). Then I started working on the water and vegetables (which by then were naturally close but I started making sure I hit the minimum). Now my last hurdle is exercise.
