So far, so good!

Thursday, June 07, 2012

Well I've been getting my butt kicked all week with the bodyrock challenge! (ok, so maybe it's only been 3 days, but they have been tough!) I'm reeeeeally sore. Like whiny sore. but I like it! Definitely what I needed after a very mediocre May. I went for a run Monday, and a half-ass run yesterday (aka run 1 minute, walk 7ish a few times). I'm just really sore!

So now for the conceited part...
I like being sore and having my muscles be kind of tight. They look good when I'm walking, or holding something or going up the stairs. There. I said it. I have started to see a difference and I like it!

I like to accountability aspect of the June bodyrock challenge- we are sharing our scores, and you never want to under-perform! I also got my husband to do the bodyrock challenge with me last night. He didn't do the lunges on Monday and I blame that for his faster time. Those one leg squat jumps were torture on my butt and calves!

Also, I'm glad I didn't post yesterday afternoon. I had written something and it was super whiny and I ended up deleting it (you're welcome!) and going for a walk.

Oh my god, I forgot the most exciting part! I made homemade frozen yogurt last night! We ate all of it. Out of the container. It was sooo good. And I stayed within my nutrient ranges for everything! Booyah!

Yeah. I just said booyah.

Ps- I had a salad for breakfast instead of oatmeal. Maybe I should always have a salad for breakfast if it makes me this excited??

Hahahaha Way to go girl! Your blog cracks me up! =p As a replacement for a whiney blog, this one is hilarious, upbeat and super positive! That ROCKS that you got your hubby to join in with you! Yesterday my hubby was SUPPOSED to join in with ME.. but he ended up taking a nap with our kiddo, so I can't complain =]

I'm loving this June challenge too! Nothing like some friendly competition! eh? =DThat's so awesome that you're starting to feel and see the changes! Isn't it SO motivating?! =D Just remember with the soreness though that if you're TOO SORE, working out hard can actually just make it worse instead of better! Maybe take a day off from bodyrocking and just go for a light run or walk or yoga, but nothing super intense. Even though the soreness feels oh so good =D It will probably still be there a little tomorrow if it's as bad as it sounds! =D
Keep up the great work! =D

Monday, Monday...

Monday, June 04, 2012

Well this past weekends didn't really go as planned. We did date night on Friday, which was planned. I made sure everything (including wine with dinner) fit into my calorie limit for the day. And then the royally messed up our order (we ended up eating it because we had been waiting so long) and our server gave us cannolis to make up for it. And I ate the whole thing. And part of Jimi's. What can I say- Italian people like cannolis! I ended up just about 300 calories over for the day (right around the amount in a cannoli).

Anyways, that wasn't too bad. Saturday would have gone better had I not snacked before dinner. And if I had drank less wine. My mom and I went for a 40 minute walk after dinner which was nice. Yesterday, we went to a funeral for our friend's wife. A lot of people came into town from all over and we went out and celebrated (as Leah would have wanted us to). Which involved going to the bar. And we went out to dinner to one of our favorite places because we were in Richmond.

This morning, I definitely feel gross. I don't like to drink that much in one weekend (or ever for that matter!), much less when I have to work the next day! Today marks Day 1 of the bodyrock challenge I joined for the month of June. And I am also 2 days away from my last weigh-in for the 5 week bikini challenge from the beginning of May. I am currently up a few pounds (probably because of all the drinking this weekend), but I hope to get to the 1lb loss to reach my 5 week bikini challenge goal!

Today, I plan to do 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym and then go home and do the bodyrock challenge for the day. And I plan to drink an obnoxious amount of water.

I hope everyone else was able to stick to their plans over the weekend better than I did. I don't have any plans this weekend (except haircut Saturday- donating 10-12 inches!) so hopefully I will fare much better.

Today I'm going to be doing Jillian Michael's Yoga Meltdown and POSSIBLY a hiit workout.. we'll see what is in the cards for me, but I'm going to try to be doing Yoga for the "Monday" spot in this challenge =]=] It's gonna be gooooood!!! Lets do this! =D

Goals for June 2012

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

2nd post of the day with my goals for June 2012 (Thanks to 2GETFIT7 for the reminder!)

I definitely need to get into more of a routine

-Walk after lunch 3x/week
-3 mile jog 3x/week (get to 9.5 minute miles- currently 11ish minute miles)
-Track food EVERY DAY- even if it's bad
-Lose 3 pounds
-Cut back on after work snacking- fold laundry, water the plants, play with the cats no snacking outside of planned snack!
-Get 30 minutes of exercise 5 day per week- run, walk, video, free weights- just do something!)
-Burn 1000 calories per week though exercise (My mile times are pretty slow, so picking up the pace should help a lot!)

Possibly more to come... I need to add in some organizational goals too

Awesome! Those all sound like great and attainable goals! emoticon

After work/evening snacking gets me too sometimes. Good idea finding other chores/activities to do instead, I definitely need to do that too. Can't wait to read about and support you through another month of healthy lifestyle changes :) We can do this!

Fun weekend/ back to the grind

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

I love long weekends! Friends, family, beach, sun, drinks etc. Well, I did it all! I definitely worked to make better food choices over the weekend than I would have in the past for similar family get-togethers. I didn't over-eat chips and dip, I didn't have any frozen drinks and I even brought carrots and cauliflower to snack on.

But the drinks... I always seem to think lunch time signals the time to start drinking on the beach or at the pool. I'm not sure why, but it just does- probably because everyone else is doing it! I went over my calories every day (Friday-Monday :/ ) primarily because of drinks. Even if you have wine in your glass, someone just fills it back up when they fill theirs! Sunday, I did have ice cream and cake too and Monday we went out for lunch and they only had 3 side options- potato salad (eww), cole slaw (eww) or fries. I guess I could have just skipped the side...

On a happy note, I woke up at a decent time every morning (between 7 and 8:15) and got a run/ walk in before I did any lounging. Jimi even came with me on Sunday morning. Monday, we didn't do a run because we had planned on leaving at noon, but got suckered into lunch out with the family (ok, so we totally wanted to go out too!). I liked jogging on the path along the main road- lots of people and that usually embarrasses me into running longer because I don't want the people around me to see me quit.

I'm back to the plan for this week and don't have any exciting weekend plans, so I will definitely get some extra workout in.

I need to work on not comparing myself to others. Right now, a lot of my motivations is stemming from those comparisons and that needs to change. One of my friends from middle school (not friends now, but we are facebook friends) ran a 1/2 marathon over the weekend- I want to run a 1/2 marathon! And my little sister has crazy ripped abs- I want crazy ripped abs too! She has been doing P90X pretty religiously, so she has definitely worked hard for them, but I want them too!

Anyways, enough complaining (almost... its freaking hot outside!!). I'm back at 112 as of this morning, but that could be water weight from being outside all weekend and drinking a lot- I hope so at least!

Thanks for the support!! emoticon I decided to create a new blog post with some June goals. Nothing too huge, but I definitely need to develop more of a routine instead of the 'whatever I feel like doing today' routine I have been doing.
