I love long weekends! Friends, family, beach, sun, drinks etc. Well, I did it all! I definitely worked to make better food choices over the weekend than I would have in the past for similar family get-togethers. I didn't over-eat chips and dip, I didn't have any frozen drinks and I even brought carrots and cauliflower to snack on.
But the drinks... I always seem to think lunch time signals the time to start drinking on the beach or at the pool. I'm not sure why, but it just does- probably because everyone else is doing it! I went over my calories every day (Friday-Monday :/ ) primarily because of drinks. Even if you have wine in your glass, someone just fills it back up when they fill theirs! Sunday, I did have ice cream and cake too and Monday we went out for lunch and they only had 3 side options- potato salad (eww), cole slaw (eww) or fries. I guess I could have just skipped the side...
On a happy note, I woke up at a decent time every morning (between 7 and 8:15) and got a run/ walk in before I did any lounging. Jimi even came with me on Sunday morning. Monday, we didn't do a run because we had planned on leaving at noon, but got suckered into lunch out with the family (ok, so we totally wanted to go out too!). I liked jogging on the path along the main road- lots of people and that usually embarrasses me into running longer because I don't want the people around me to see me quit.
I'm back to the plan for this week and don't have any exciting weekend plans, so I will definitely get some extra workout in.
I need to work on not comparing myself to others. Right now, a lot of my motivations is stemming from those comparisons and that needs to change. One of my friends from middle school (not friends now, but we are facebook friends) ran a 1/2 marathon over the weekend- I want to run a 1/2 marathon! And my little sister has crazy ripped abs- I want crazy ripped abs too! She has been doing P90X pretty religiously, so she has definitely worked hard for them, but I want them too!
Anyways, enough complaining (almost... its freaking hot outside!!). I'm back at 112 as of this morning, but that could be water weight from being outside all weekend and drinking a lot- I hope so at least!
