Goals for June 2012

2nd post of the day with my goals for June 2012 (Thanks to 2GETFIT7 for the reminder!)

I definitely need to get into more of a routine

-Walk after lunch 3x/week
-3 mile jog 3x/week (get to 9.5 minute miles- currently 11ish minute miles)
-Track food EVERY DAY- even if it's bad
-Lose 3 pounds
-Cut back on after work snacking- fold laundry, water the plants, play with the cats no snacking outside of planned snack!
-Get 30 minutes of exercise 5 day per week- run, walk, video, free weights- just do something!)
-Burn 1000 calories per week though exercise (My mile times are pretty slow, so picking up the pace should help a lot!)

Possibly more to come... I need to add in some organizational goals too

  Awesome! Those all sound like great and attainable goals! emoticon

After work/evening snacking gets me too sometimes. Good idea finding other chores/activities to do instead, I definitely need to do that too. Can't wait to read about and support you through another month of healthy lifestyle changes :) We can do this!

Fun weekend/ back to the grind

I love long weekends! Friends, family, beach, sun, drinks etc. Well, I did it all! I definitely worked to make better food choices over the weekend than I would have in the past for similar family get-togethers. I didn't over-eat chips and dip, I didn't have any frozen drinks and I even brought carrots and cauliflower to snack on.

But the drinks... I always seem to think lunch time signals the time to start drinking on the beach or at the pool. I'm not sure why, but it just does- probably because everyone else is doing it! I went over my calories every day (Friday-Monday :/ ) primarily because of drinks. Even if you have wine in your glass, someone just fills it back up when they fill theirs! Sunday, I did have ice cream and cake too and Monday we went out for lunch and they only had 3 side options- potato salad (eww), cole slaw (eww) or fries. I guess I could have just skipped the side...

On a happy note, I woke up at a decent time every morning (between 7 and 8:15) and got a run/ walk in before I did any lounging. Jimi even came with me on Sunday morning. Monday, we didn't do a run because we had planned on leaving at noon, but got suckered into lunch out with the family (ok, so we totally wanted to go out too!). I liked jogging on the path along the main road- lots of people and that usually embarrasses me into running longer because I don't want the people around me to see me quit.

I'm back to the plan for this week and don't have any exciting weekend plans, so I will definitely get some extra workout in.

I need to work on not comparing myself to others. Right now, a lot of my motivations is stemming from those comparisons and that needs to change. One of my friends from middle school (not friends now, but we are facebook friends) ran a 1/2 marathon over the weekend- I want to run a 1/2 marathon! And my little sister has crazy ripped abs- I want crazy ripped abs too! She has been doing P90X pretty religiously, so she has definitely worked hard for them, but I want them too!

Anyways, enough complaining (almost... its freaking hot outside!!). I'm back at 112 as of this morning, but that could be water weight from being outside all weekend and drinking a lot- I hope so at least!

    Thanks for the support!! emoticon I decided to create a new blog post with some June goals. Nothing too huge, but I definitely need to develop more of a routine instead of the 'whatever I feel like doing today' routine I have been doing.

Monday fail

Well I may as well delete everything from my last post after the description of my weekend adventures. I may have had an allergic reaction to something, not sure, but I was deathly itchy yesterday. It was bad. I didn't go to the gym. I also had to pick my husband up in another city (during rush hour!) where he had dropped his car off to get fixed.

We did this car thing for part of last week as well. I go to work, leave work mid-morning to pick him up at the house and drive him to his work, then I go back to work and then pick him up at night when he gets off work. And last week, I used it as my excuse to not hit the gym. And I'm trying REALLY hard to not use it as my excuse this week. I mean, it only entails me staying at work for an extra hour to make up for leaving during the day (leave at 5 instead of 4), which in the grand scheme of things, is still pretty early!
I'd like to go for an outside run today after work- I even brought my clothes into my office so I can change here and go to the park.

I also had a check-in with my mom last night. She has lost 5 pounds so far and has done a grocery list overhaul to include more fresh vegetables. She has even made some spark recipes! I'm glad she's excited to keep going with this and I'm glad we can both keep each other accountable on this site!

  


Case of the Mondays

...Or more like weekend-spark-itis. Camping=too much drinking and eating. We did manage to include a lot of vegetables, but I also ate a few quesadillas and lots of chips and salsa. Food-wise, I probably would have stayed within my calorie range, but I definitely blew through that with the alcohol. I'm not going to beat myself up over it.

Didn't gain weight, but didn't track food eaten or track any sizable amount of fitness minutes. I am definitely going to do my goal of 9 miles this week...starting after work today with 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym. I also plan to do different upper body weight machines today. And do 10 minutes of abs.

I plan to pre-determine how much I will drink for each day over this coming Memorial Day weekend with the family. I can generally make good food choices, but drink more than I should to stay within my calorie range. And since we will be at the beach, getting a few walks in won't be difficult.
