Cardio worked - down a pound

Thursday, March 31, 2011

I did 35 minutes of cardio yesterday and today I'm down a pound. I know cardio is the answer. Now if I can just manage my pain enough to do it daily I should see gradual but steady progress. It's just hard when every move hurts, but the pain is here to stay until the wait is gone gone gone.

Adding cardio

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Adding cardio isn't easy, but it is the only way I am going to break the eight week set point. So far 10 to 15 minutes of moderate recumbent bike is all my knees will tolerate, but I'm determined to grit my teeth and keep it up until the pain is managable. That is the only way I will eventually eliminate the pain altogether. It simply has to happen.

This week is for me.

I'm on quarter break this week and I'm concentrating on me. Yesterday I caught up on the motivational e-mail and videos I've been banking for lack of time and, dare I say it, motivation. emoticon I'm setting a goal to make time to read/watch one a day even after I return to work next week.

Which came first, the cardio or the pain

Monday, March 28, 2011

I've been at a set point for eight weeks. The answer is cardio, but my knee and back pain makes it incredibly difficult. Satruday I forced myself. Only 5 minutes on the rebounder and 10 on the recumbent bike, but it paid off in a 1.5 pound loss. Yesterday I didn't do any and today I am up 0.4 pounds. Guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and deal with the pain. I have a new supplement I hope will help. Time will tell.

Can I make a suggestion? You seem to be measuring your progress through the scale. Our weight fluctuates quite a bit. When the joints are inflamed, they hold more water. Try to determine what exercise you can do and for a while do it every other day. Also, get rid of that darned scale. It seems to affect your mood too much. Go somewhere once a week and only once a week and weigh yourself. After you break the weighing all the time habit, once a week is plenty and you won't feel bad about a 0.4 gain - which really may not be a gain tomorrow!

9 hours

Sunday, March 27, 2011

Slept a solid 9 hours last night. That really felt good after a week of poor sleep. Second day on my 14 day plan and I'm down to 148.8. That's progress. It feels really good to be in the 40's again.
