I hope things pick up for you soon. My husband was laid off the rest of the week from his low-paying temp job.

You can still access SparkPeople at your local library.

Frustrated!

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Have been frustrated or down in awhile but now i am.. first of all treadmill isnt working right.. i could go on it like for 13 mins at a time.. letting it cool down for awhile.. to do a 65 mins work out.. but that is frustrating to me.. i used to jog on it and i so loved that!@ So now i am down.. its windy and i seem to have allergies now sniffing a lot and eyses waterng some too. dont like that.. so i can jog in place do some exercise dvds which i have done over and over.. i always try to think of bright side.. and do oter things to keep me going.. i just dont want to get lazy and gain back all i have lost.. so i am trying to be patient until my treadmill is fixed.. i just wished i had a exercise bike to go on in the mean time..
Just venting cause i know some dont have time to exersie let alone have a treadmil.. have to be thankful for what i have..!!!

Thats a very good idea, go to a gym and ask for a 3 day trial pass, like you are thinking of joining, and who knows, maybe this is an opportunity where you will find that you love the place, lol. I have had gyms where I was really into them , and others where I hated to go.
I am doing the home treadmill too, but I figure as I get closer to my goal I may join a gym for toning. Do you have a regular bike? a Jumprope, or mini trampolene to break up your dvds?
My bikes all rusted, I may keep an eye out at the fleamarket this summer for one.
Hope its fixed soon.

Could you get some exercise videos from the library and exercise with those til your treadmill is fixed? Or maybe you could get a visiters pass at the local Y until your treadmill is fixed.
Just don't give up. You're doing great.

Keep your chin up mom!! If you're able to maybe you could get a good walk in at a local store or mall or somewhere the allergies can't get cha (maybe pick up a new DVD while you're out). Although treadmills can be amazing, they aren't what make you the beautiful person that you are, you do that on your own! Great job! Much love XOXO

I always seem to get the flu on a holiday too, glad you are feeling better.
Hiking sounds fun, but everywhere around here is flat that I know of.

Maybe the next time I come down that way I can bring my tennis rackets with me and we can go out and throw the ball around. Maybe we can plan a girls hiking trip somewhere semi local??? Glad to hear that you're feeling better and thanks for all of your motivation. XOXOX

When do u know your at your goal weight?

Monday, April 13, 2009

I do think i am at mine now.. but i am never sure..I guess if you watch tv and some movie stars or whatever talk about being a size 2 or 4.. and i just cant imagine being that small. I am big borned of German decsent.. and have this body that is more square and i think if i lose more i wont look so good.. so i am trying not to lose more just to one up.. you know the waist and stomach.. ! always hard places to work on.. last ones to lose..
Just want everyone to remeber u have to decide on what weight you feel good at.. not what you think u should be at.. we all have different body shapes and dont all look good at a size 2 or 4 or even 10.. so dont try to be too skinny.. just Right size!!!

I am also of German descent, the whole family was German as far back as we can trace. There is something to say about bone structure and frame size when deciding how much weight looks good! I will never apologize for my heritage because it has given me wonderful ethnic foods to enjoy and make for my family.
Your comments are very true! I'll never be a movie star but I can learn to love myself enough to say I am healthy and look good. And my family loves me for who I am! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your wisdom! emoticon

    Hi Geri,

You look absolutely wonderful and I understand what you are saying. Thank you for posting this and this is what I try to relay to my daughter and my step daughters. My daughter looks like her Dad and is of German descent and she is beautifully big boned. That is why she never takes a bad picture because of the bone definition in her face.

I try to stay away from clothing numbers as a goal. I believe that for me, setting a goal of a size 2 or 4 would never be realistic for me considering my Irish small frame and bone structure, and if I was at a healthy weight, and if I worked out for muscle definition.

The smallest size I have worn in the past, when - being a consistent 125lbs when working out, running, doing high impact aerobics and weight lifting was a 10. This would be from the age of 33. The muscle development of my back during this timeframe would make a 7 too tight. I was a very comfortable 10. It has more to do with the feel and comfort of the clothes rather than a number.

You are right. I have seen friends who once they learned to lose weight they carry it too far, start looking gaunt. You know when everyone starts asking if you are ill that you took it too far, lol. You look great. I don't know what my final weight will be. I set out for 150, and I will decide when the time is right. It may be at 150, or before, or after. I will see.

I totally agree with you. Being the right size for me is what I am aiming at. Not what I wore in my teens or twenty's. Good for you!

It is difficult sometimes knowing when to stop. I remember that at one point, I could see my ribs show a little bit above my breasts but I still had fat on my thighs and stomach. I thought I looked better after gaining a few more pounds!

The dream come true!

Friday, March 13, 2009

I always dreamed of losing a lot and being skinny.. but never thought i could do it! And funny thing is i always thought i was always fat.. and i wasnt.. when i lived at home i was skinny but my parents made me think i was fat.. so its all how we think of ourselves and how we grew up and our self asteem. And of course i gained a lot after my kids and for different reasons but now i delt with why i gained and when i got here i was so ready to lose and be a thinner me! And after more than a year i did it! And i tell you.. you dont realize when you have been so over weight as i was.. just the little things mean so much.. just doing stuff you couldnt do before. It is a dream come true and i will never been that fat person again.. I have a new outlook on life and do so manmy things differently , and most of all i love myself!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember when my fat weight was 135! My highest weight in my pregnancies was 164! Who would have thought I would top out at 228 to 232!!! It is so nice to be getting slim again! I remember some referring to me as skinny when I was growing up but by age 14 I wore a 36 D bra. My measurements were 36 22 34! Well I am back to the 36 but it is a B now and the 22 inch waist is now a 33 and the hips...well about 42 but my age is 57 now and menopause is the frontrunner in my life now! I keep wishing the hot flashes were me sweating off the pounds and inches but it doesn't seem to work that way. But I am only 8.8 pounds away from the weight the Dr wants me at...so I am well on my way too!

Geri you look really really awesome! I am so happy for you! Hugs and Love for you, My Friend.
