Frustration

I have been having Hamstring problems.. and its from a bad fall i had like 3 or more years ago..so its no fall recently and thats frustrating cause i cant do the running and all like i used to do..the good thing i can walk and do house work and all i just cant over do it..so the best thing i can do is work on food which i am big time and being a accountability buddy with my husband and gf..so at least i am doing that, and trying to exercise when i am feeling good.. the good thing is i can sleep.. i do have to take baths sometimes and run myself down with some ben gay or something so it could always be worse.. I never give up but boy i think i was so depressed for awhile.. now have to get going and get ready for the summer!!!

    Geri so sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your hamstrings. You have the right frame of mind to work on other things that you can do for yourself. Sorry to hear that this depressed you I pray you are on the road to happier days. You have come so far in your weight loss . Well things are much better.. daughter and kids moved out.. now me and hubby have house to ourselves! I sized down big time so dont have as much stuff as i used to.. going to have a garage sale soon to get rid of a lot. But the hard thing is the back of my legs. Like my thighs all the way to my butt.. its like they feel sore. I have fallen so many times i am figuring i have arthritis now cause where i was most affected from falls. But dont know for sure.. so i am still exercising and stretching a lot.. and see if can work thru it but sometimes it makes it hard to sleep. I have to use a Ben Gay type of stuff to make it easier to sleep and take baths.. But i wont give up and will work and work until i lose.. !! Now i so understand how a lot of you feel when you have health problems and cant work out like you want.. ! When there is a will there is a way..

    Okay you need to be careful that you don't do more damage . If you could get checked out it would be best . Although exercise is good for arthritis because I have it in my spine and if I exercise I don't have any pain. You might be over doing it so be careful.
Take it easy and don't over due.

Having RA I have had to deal with pain in my joints and bones since I was 38 and I'm 61 now. If you can get to a doctor and have them prescribe Voltaren gel you will find that it will help you alot. It is a rub on but is like asprin (which I can no longer take) and is absorbed through your skin instead of your stomach..and it goes directly to your joints, muscles and bone pains. My hubby uses it on bee stings to bring the swelling down as well..it is prescription but it seems to work for me. As we age, it gets harder and harder for our bodies to bounce back..keep up with the exercise..I know when I give in to the pain and rest rather than move, then it gets harder the next time around. I can't take most meds today for pain or inflamation or for the RA but I do also have a perscription for Tramadol which is a non narcotic pain med which won't hurt my tummy..so these are some suggestions. Stretching is the best I have found and just getting out and walking..Do something for your mental health as well..get a good hair cut or manicure or pedicure or just go outside and meditate.     So glad that you have your home back....woo hoo! Now is the time to form your new routines and habits for a healthy and happy life. You deserve it! I sure can identify with the aches and pains as I age. Not fun. I have arthritis as well. And I do not like to take westtern meds as the side effects are worst than the pain.
Exercising helps!

    It makes a difference when you can make you life simpler. I'm glad you are still trying even though your legs are painful. Keep working hard and talk to your doctor. There might be a simple reason for your leg issues. I'm really proud on how you've come along and work through everything. Hope you do great with your yard sale! emoticon

Its been stressful!!

When my Daughter moved back in .. ( now this is the 3rd time) i thought i could handle it.. and at first i did.. but its been harder and harder. We now have 6 in this small 3 bedroom house.. Daughter.. and 3 grand kids.. and 3 dogs and i cat .. plus 6 cats outside.Its not many many are here and dont get me wrong i love them all and glad i get to see them each day but .. at my age its hard. We had our kids so early and didnt have time in our marriage to have fun and do things together. We had the kids already. So i was thinking i would have the time now. I am hoping one day soon things will be different but right now we are handling it.. I am trying to keep busy. working out.. walking.. cleaning.. and yard work to keep myself from going crazy.. Also. having lunch out with my gf really helps.. I know things could be worse.. and i am thinking positive and doing the best i can..I get my grandson off to school in the morning and some days pick up granddaughter in the afternoon.. Life is good.. cause i do have my family and have my darling husband and a roof over my head and food.. so not all bad.. !
I do appreciate all i have and the love in my life.

    This is a sign of our times. I have a daughter with 3 cats and a dog but hope they never have to move back with me. I really understand where you are coming from. We love them, support them, but there is something to be said when they are on their own and we get to be grandma without all the bustle, hussle and worry.

    Gosh, my heart goes out to you. Of course you love your family, but this should be your time! I totally understand as after staying with our two grandkids(3&5 years old) along with their parents for several weeks, I am soooo ready to get out and go home to my quiet and routines. So good to hear that you are trying to keep busy and do the things you like to do. That is so important to take care of you so you can help with everything else. these are difficult times and I know many families are having to live together. It's much like it was back in the 20's, 30's and 40's.
Sending you positive thoughts that things work out eventually and you get your peaceful home back.

I made up my mind i am going to lose and keep it off and not going to gain again!! I have been exercising every day.. working out on treadmill.. walking and running.. and many other exercise. mixing it up and getting my heart rate up. Also.. i have been eating good and not eating much sweets. Hubby is doing this with me which is so helping, i dont think i could do it without his help.
This is a life thing and i am doing it.. i am 60 and i did it once i can do it again.. so lets do it.. dont ever give up!!!!

I am having a hard time with sweets.. and i know i am emotional this Christmas.. stress with not a lot of money.. stress with situation at home.( daughter and kids moved in) and i have been eating more and more sweets.. so i am posting this to say i am quitting.. little by little but i know i can do this.. if i can quit sweets then i know i can lose the rest of the weight.. i have gained cause of the sweets and i dont waint to gain anymore.. !! when i make up my mind i do it.. so i am GOING TO quit once and for all!!! so Keep working towards your goals.. dont over think things and you will too make it..!

    ... me too emoticon.. I am substituting sugary sweets with healthier alternatives like sugar-free pudding and real whipped cream (only 1 carb), sugar-free jello and fruit/cottage cheese or plain Greek yogurt... Other than that, I keep all sweets out to the house because I have absolutely no will-power.

Good luck, just keep trying and eventually , although you may never conquer the craving for it, you will be able to reach a happy medium (median????) with it.

    Journal that stress and brain storm other ways to cope with your stress. Giving yourself other options will keep you mindful of your choices. Take it one day at a time and count your blessing. There is a lot you can teach your GK's as they live with you at this time. Think of the memories you can create.

    I can't eat sweets without getting cravings. I feel for you if you have them in the house for the family. I found a few fruit type replacements that I turn to. Good luck. You can do it.

    Would it be possible to have you get rid of the sugary stuff out of the house or least keep it out of sight? Having no sweets for the grandkids might not make you a popular granny but certainly won't hurt the kids either. My family often puts their sweets in the deep freeze so I don't have to look at them all day. There are healthy cookies you can make that is on this site. Keep healthy snacks out so you will be more tempted to eat them. Eat small meals multiple times a day so you will feel full and the sweets won't be so tempting. I'd still keep them out of the house or hidden. When you want to give treats while watching grandkids give them the healthy stuff and make sure they see you eating them too. Also make sure if you use cold cereal no sugary stuff for anyone. My kids did just fine on plain Cheerios, Kix, Chex, Special K, you get the idea. They won't be as hyper on the good stuff and add fruit for the sweetness. Good luck to you.
