BLC 19

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

My goal for this round is very simple… strength. I am not sure how to measure this. This is not me lifting 100lbs or doing 100 pushups. This is a feeling. A feeling I have lost since going MIA last summer. How will I achieve my goal? Slowly and without hurting myself.

In two weeks I expect to have a routine down that I can work on increasing (number or reps/weight).

I know what you mean by the feeling... but I really believe it only comes from setting measurable, attainable goals. Have something that you want to do and it'll keep you going even when it's not so easy.

Just a thought, but you should do some sort of Cross Training exercises where you would test your fitness levels and then devise a program to build strength and then test your fitness levels to see how much you gain in 12 weeks. I think Rachel had some stuff the last round and you might see if she has any suggestions.

SP Round 2

Thursday, December 15, 2011

So due to an unexpected event (ie. husband fracturing his pelvis and having to take over his work plus take care of him) I have been absent from SP since Memorial Day. Since then my husband has healed and things are just slowing down to the point that I feel I have the time to address ME again. As with all of us when we have others that have greater needs then ours come last.

But... I have let myself go to the point that I feel tired and lethargic again. It is going to be a force of will to get myself to exercise again. Watching what I eat is going to be a job again not second nature. Strength training? Yea... once I get the first two well under way we will address that. Maybe by then this fricking wrist will let up on me. My job involves a lot of mouse pushing and I fear tendonitis. Right now it hurts to pick up a coffee cup, some days... others... not so much. So we will see.

So... it is like starting anew. I set myself back to the fast break, stage one. I probably will not be around a lot but I will be trying to track cals and kick my but into doing some cardio.

Just thought I would let all my SP friends know that I am still alive and will try to be more involved but for now I am just struggling to get back to it.

Laura has a good idea with the mouse. You should talk with your supervisor about the equipment and see what can be done from an ergonomic point of view.

Good to hear from you! Also glad to hear that your husband has healed up.

Could you look into getting a trackball mouse for work since you are starting to have issues with your wrist? I know a lot of people at my work (heavy mouse users) LOVE them.

Mama's Got a Brand New Box

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

Yea! My bento boxes arrived today.

This little beauty is 6"long, 3"wide and stand a whopping 3.5" high. The bottom cup holds approx 1 cup the middle layer holds approx 1.4 cups and the top is large enough for a pair of chop sticks or a napkin. It is all neatly held together by a stretchy band.

As you can see I have veggies on the bottom layer and have managed to cram 2 cabbage rolls and some left over augratin potatoes to fill all the voids.

All packed up in my smallest cooler and there is still plenty of room for my breakfast sandwich and fruit cup.

Who says good things come in small packages. I am looking forward to being more creative with my bento box. And am excited about the built in portion control.

Stuffed Pblano with Mexican Rice and Cilantro Lime Salad

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

This was dinner last night. Pblano stuffed with montrey cheese wrapped in a pastry sheet and back to golden deliciousness. Mexican rice sprinkled with cheddar cheese (YES I am a cheese eater). The salad has avocados, red bell pepper thinly sliced, tomato, lightly saute, lime marinated shrimp, and cilantro lime (fresh made) salad dressing.

It was SO good, but I was only able to eat half my pepper and about 5 bites of rice. The salad I polished off but it was mostly iceberg. Still yum, yum, yummy!

These were tasty but next time I will just make a quiche in a small baking pan and not use paper wrappers.
