I haven't blogged since Thanksgiving!

Of course life has been busy - I'm blessed with good health, a nice job and a great family...all those blessings take time. I guess we set priorities and sometimes a clean kitchen floor trumps writing about how I should be mopping.

With the help of Invisialign I've lost about 15 pounds! I think I've learned that what I used to call hunger is something else. I hope when I'm done with aligners I can remember those lessons.

I've missed blogging and participating in the Spark Community. Life seems full to the brim, but I'll try to make time to keep in touch.

Thanksgiving Eve...

As always I am grateful. The colors of late fall are somber, leaden gray, faded orange brown and a rare glimpse of green. I have a funeral to attend on Saturday, his passing wasn't unexpected and he wasn't going to get any better so yes, it was a blessing to him.

I was thinking today that I really need to look for more opportunities to support my brothers and sisters who don't have as much to be grateful for. The ones who don't know how they will pay rent this month and the ones who won't have all of their loved ones home for Thanksgiving, there's so much darkness that my light could brighten. Last year my intention was to celebrate...everything. This year I am called to dedicate myself to serve. Right now I'm working on serving the ones in my immediate sphere, there are plenty of opportunities to do better than I have.

If you are reading this, I am grateful for your attention. My Sparkfriends have helped me in so many ways. Somehow I've been sparked to make small changes, like walking and riding the bus instead of driving to work and working out with Coach Nicole almost every day. Those changes have created profound joy in my world. Walking home tonight, in the blustery, cold Thanksgiving Eve afternoon lifted my spirit and burned a few calories. Anyway, Thank you for the inspiration, understanding and good thoughts sent my way.

Alignment Practice

I've been doing this for a few days now. It seems to make a huge difference in the way my days go. The link at the bottom will take you to a guided meditation and a video of the meditation.

THE PRACTICE OF ALIGNMENT
by Julie Redstone


To begin with, sit with your back straight, eyes closed, and breathe slowly and quietly, with your hand, palm down, over your heart center in the center of your chest. Let your breathing deepen and become more relaxed.

Now, visualize a column of light coming down from the cosmos above your head, descending through the top of your head and down your spine, filling your heart, and extending down to the soles of your feet. Feel that this column of light is unending. It is limitless support from God and from the realms of Light.

Breathe in light through the top of your head. With each in-breath, know that you are breathing in God's light and that each breath is strengthening this connection. This light is limitless. It can be drawn upon over and over again. Feel the warmth of your hand on your heart and breathe light into your heart as well. Sit, breathe, feel light moving through you, infusing you with God's breath. Breathe like this for a few moments.

Now, pay attention to the exhale of each breath. As you exhale, release all that is not of the light within you, all that limits you, all that prevents you from drawing closer to God. Release fear, anger, despair, sorrow - release all limitation into the greater light of God that can absorb it and in which it dissolves. Exhale all that holds you back, all that separates you... Continue breathing for several more moments, focusing on the in-breath that draws greater light into your body and consciousness, and on the out-breath that lets go of all that needs to be released.

Become aware of your in-breath and your out-breath. Become aware of the breath of God moving through you. As this meditation comes to a close, give thanks to God for the gift of light and breath and for the help that is given.

Note: This practice should be done daily for maximum benefit, preferably at the same time of day, or, it can be done in shorter form throughout the day. Alignment is the central axis of a spiritual practice that seeks to incorporate more light into one's being for purposes of individual transformation and service to the earth. The more it is practiced, the more will a pathway of light be created through all levels of one's being.

It's going to be one of those days...

About 3 years ago my sister lost a foot to mrsa, complicated by her diabetes. Today she'll lost the 3 remaining toes on her other foot. Part of the reason she moved here was to be close to family, her health really is fragile and she has a 7 year old son.

My sister has showed me so many ways to be courageous and keep hanging on. Her trials are a huge part of the reason I exercise every day and try to eat right.

I feel like God is walking with her this week. She took Evan, her son, to my parents house on Saturday so he could attend a Halloween party over fall break. She had no idea she'd be having surgery today. Now Evan won't have to see his Mom in the burn and wound unit. I'm so grateful there is such a place, but it's not a place for children...

I hope everyone reading this takes time to be grateful for their good health. Then understands how blessed we each are if we are able to exercise.

The same day we found out my sister needs surgery, we found out my brother is finished with his cancer treatments and doing well. Thank goodness my sister will soon be infection free.

Thank you Sparkies, for helping me stay strong and able to do what needs done.

    I am so sorry to hear that, it must be so hard for you & your family.. Doctors are amazing and there are so many cures coming out (My Dad is a Cancer Survivor) - It sounds like Evan will be in the right home during this hard time - my thoughts are with you & your family xo

I've felt so hyper this weekend! I know there are a lot of things to do in the fall, but everywhere I look I get a new idea, or think of something else that needs doing. Mostly I kept my projects short, but there are a few that made a mess. And here it is Monday and those messes will likely stay around until next weekend.

When you started to eat a balanced diet and started exercising, did you notice a huge difference in your energy level? That's how I felt this weekend. Maybe taking Friday off made all the difference...lol, if that's the case, can I take today off too?

Anyway, I love the energy, I didn't love being hyped up when it was time to go to sleep. I had to take a tylenol pm and was really sleepy this morning.

Have a marvelous Monday all! Eat your veggies, shake your booty and you'll have energy and, BONUS! Shiny hair!

    Oh yes, I notice big time...I'm with you and hope you blog more about your experiences in this way...tips on shiny hair would be great...but back to the subject lol...I know that hyper feeling but I love it and if I concentrate I do get loads done and burn calories in the process..I say win win except for the sleep..me too on that one!

We too worked on projects (think the whole neighborhood was cleaning gutters). Yesterday was a clean out the kitchen day - 'believe and receive' in advance of remodeling!
