My motivation

Monday, June 15, 2009

This was me in 2001. I found this picture last week and I really want to get back down to that size. I know that my weight will probably be more, but I miss looking like this.

This is me today. I'm not very happy with this picture, so I am working on it.

So, here it is again, my intro (and hopefully I will be consistent enough for it to be my last intro on this blog). I have been proud of my weight loss since mid March (down 10 pounds), but I hope to kick into high gear and really quicken the pace towards my goal weight.

My husband has been encouraging me to do some weights since cardio just isn't enough. After running almost 4 miles about 4 to 5 times a week for the last two months, I can totally agree with this. Ha. So, I am now on a quest to do more core exercises and hopefully that will help me with my weight loss goals.

Today's plan is to get back into the habit of tracking my calories. I am also heading to the apartment gym for some cardio. After that, I will head to the big gym where I will finally sign up for a membership. I am still trying to figure out if I should join the racquet club so I can play tennis again. Decisions, decisions.

Join the racquet club!!! ;-) Jeff and I love playing tennis, and the gym we just joined is connected with a tennis club. I'm so excited. Tennis is a great life-long sport, and something fun you can do with your hubby.

My 30 Day Shred Challenge

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

I've been such a slacker with my eating and exercising habits that I ended up gaining all of the weight I lost before the wedding back in May. So, to help me kick start 2009, I decided to do my own version of Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred challenge. I want the next 30 days to help me establish a habit of eating well and doing daily exercise. This will help me lose weight and get healthier in general (that's the plan at least).

For some background, I started counting me calories exactly one week ago. The Sparkpeople guideline suggests that I need to stay within the 1200 - 1550 calorie range for me to lose the weight I want by my one year anniversary. I have been doing well so far and lost 2 pounds already. It was super tough this weekend when I had no plans and sat around the apartment all day. I now realize that I snack a lot when I am bored, so I will do my best to avoid this in the future.

The second part of my 30 Day Shred challenge is to actually do exercise every day. I bought the Jillian Michaels DVD last week and got off on a rocky start. I did Level 1 last Tuesday and then again this past Saturday. Obviously I wasn't doing exercise every day, so I re-started my day count.

Yesterday was Day 1 of daily exercise and I am sore as I don't know what. Jillian Michaels' DVD is amazing and I appreciate the fact that it goes by quickly. Please help me stay motivated since I have 29 more days to go to make this a habit!

Here we go

Monday, August 25, 2008

Today is the first day of my calorie counting process. How sad is it that I am already starving and it's barely 11am? Man oh man, this is going to take a whole lot of will power since I am in such a mood to nosh on something right now.

I made it!

So, even after leaving work at 8:45pm this evening, I grumbled about possibly going to the gym in the morning instead. Yeah, right. I walked 8 blocks towards the gym and decided to just go since I know I won't be able to wake up early enough to get a decent sweat going in the morning. Thanks for the help already SP! emoticon

I guess I should warn people that I will be posting lots of rambling thoughts about my cravings on here. As I mentioned earlier, I hope to help myself be more accountable for my food intake.

Good for you. I know making your self go thru the door of the Gym was the hardest part but you did it.

First day posting, and I already need help getting to the gym

Thursday, August 21, 2008

emoticon I am exhausted, yet I am still at work struggling to get some things done before I leave and head to the gym. I hope that by typing this up and putting it out there on the world wide web, I can embarrass myself enough and actually go and run/walk like I planned to. Day 2 of my new outlook on life and I am already struggling. Eek! emoticon

Keep your head up. It gets easier. I used to be tired and always able to find an excuse to not go to the gym. Now I have a hard time finding a reason not to go. Once you get going and make it part of your routine it becomes SO much easier. And who knows, maybe once you get moving at the gym you'll get your energy back.

Have a good work out! emoticon
