What Happened??

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

What has happened to me? I look back at when I first began this journey and how excited I was as the pounds began to peel off. I love all the comments I get even now. Then along came the holidays. I planned on taking a little break so that I wouldn't freak out when the pounds crept back on. I tried to prepare myself emotionally for a possible setback. I did well and even won our Biggest Lose because I was the only one who last any weight at all. Something happened in my thinking and now it is hard to get back to doing what has been successful for me. I am not as diligent as I once was about tracking my calories and only do it sporadically. I am making myself exercise and doing my three goals together. But it is as though I have lost my motivation. I don't want to be happy with where I am, because the battle is only half won. Mediocracy tends to rule my life so easily. I don't want that to always be true of me. I will force myself to get back to tracking. That is where some of it lies. But I really need something to pick me up and get me excited about my weight loss again. Help!

I know that when I reached my goal weight with Weight Watchers I think I got into that same mindset. What we have been striving for all along is to make this a lifestyle. I didn't hear you saying that you had gained anything either - which is great. I know my tracking slacked because I wanted it to become like a natural thing of eating right and grocery shopping for the right foods to keep me successful. I slowly started slipping a bit around the holidays. I've added back a few but just try to keep things at a steady pace and continue to make exercise a part of my new lifestyle also. (Always remember that we can pray about this too and He will answer in His own way, not necessarily our way). Love ya, girlfriend!

I have been there! My problem is that I get bored so easily. Sometimes, something so simple like getting a new exercise DVD or joining a new Spark Team helps. Other times there is no getting out the funk - my last one occurred from August to December. This last funk was broken by a major life event that was completely out of my control. But, whatever your case - know that you are important enough to commit to taking good care of yourself.

Hi Cindy... Hang in there! You are overworking yourself and just running out of energy! I think this happens to the best of us, and I'm fighting it right now. Your friend, Lori

We all struggle once in a while - a fried of mine had the same issue. She started trying to prevent gain, and recently she is excited to start losing again.
Not sure what changed her mind, but I think we all need to review our goals and why we want to lose in the first place.
I agree that you can do this, and don't be too hard on yourself (that can set you up for failure.)

    There are days like this.
Celebrate maintaining for a while and set a date to restart an aggressive program. Your mind may need a break from the aggression.

My humble suggestion is that you joyfully maintain your lifestyle changes to your eating and activity habits. (Joyfyl, not begrudging!) and set a date to redesign a plan you will follow. I'm sure you will be happy to restart after a break.

Keep a mental image of how you want to look when you reach your goal. New beginnings are allowed and encouraged. Take it one meal, one exercise, one positive day at a time and you'll be back in the groove in no time. -- Lou

Give yourself a break...just four days ago you were painting your house and hurting in ways you couldn't believe:) Just remember Dory in the movie Nemo...Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming! You'll get your grove back!

Authority

Monday, February 15, 2010

Which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven you, or to say, Arise and walk about? But that you may know that the Son of Man has the power of authority and right on earth to forgive sins, He said to the paralyzed man, I say to you, arise, pick up your stretcher and go to your own house! And instantly the man stood up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went away to his house, praising and thanking God.
Blessed and happy are those who cleanse their garments, that they might have the authority and right to approach the tree of life and to enter through the gates into the city.
For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature] And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [ in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead-Father, Son and Holy Spirit- and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [ of every angelic principality and power].
God disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in the cross.
Jesus.. said to them, All authority (all power and rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go then and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days and on every occasion to the very close of the age.
I can take no credit for any of these. They are straight from the Bible. Jesus has All authority and the right to use it as given Him by the Father. He has given to us also authority. Through Him we have the right and authority to possess that which Adam lost. We can go in confidence knowing He walks with us and nothing has the power to hurt us any more. For we fight not against flesh and blood but against powers and authorities in the spiritual realm. Thank you Jesus.

Love Portrayed

Sunday, February 14, 2010

The topic of the day is love. Everyone needs to know that they are loved by someone, somewhere. Babies in a hospital that are not held or cuddled will languish and die many times. Without knowing that they are worth loving, people will commit suicide. Listen to any radio and it is a very short period of time before you will hear a song talking about love. There is no greater love than that someone would lay their life down for another. We have all heard the stories haven't we? Jesus is the greatest example of love I know. The Bible says that God IS love and then it gives a definition of what exactly love is. God, out of love, gave His one and only son to die for a bunch of people who hated Him and didn't really care about what He was getting ready to do. The world would never again be the same because of what He did. He could not stand to have our relationship broken any longer and gave the very best gift He could find, a piece of His heart. All the pain and suffering He had to go through to watch what unfolded was worth every bit of it to know that He would have us back. Yet even still His gift was scorned and rejected, then as it is today. Think of it. How much more clearly do we want the message portrayed?

The Greatest Worth

Saturday, February 13, 2010

When I was in Lubbock I put the key to the house somewhere where I just could not find it. My son was coming and he would have a key with him so it was not a major thing. But I needed to go to Walmart and couldn't lock the door before he got there. I looked everywhere I knew I would put it and just could not find it. My husband has put things in places that they have never reappeared again. Sometimes they were things he really didn't want to misplace. We have all done it. My usual thing is "If you have lost something, just start cleaning and it will appear again." Most of the times it works though it may take a while. Don't even talk to me about how many times I have lost my car keys.
Jesus understood this as well. The parables talk about how diligently we look for things of value that we have lost. We look and look then rejoice and tell everyone when it is found. Or the parable of the man selling everything he has to buy the item of greatest worth.
Are we truly seeking for Jesus today as though he is the greatest treasure? What is He worth in our eyes today? What were we worth to Him?

Exhausted!!!!

Friday, February 12, 2010

I am exhausted!! I just spent two days doing little other than painting our house in Lubbock. My body hurts in ways I never dreamed possible. I have NEVER been this unable to move normally. Just getting up and down is a chore. I am not finished with the job either, about one more day to go. I think the house looks great though. Lori did get a chance to see it and I am thrilled to have finally met an active Sparker. The real estate guy would have liked the walls to have had a little more brown tint to them, but I am believing that just the right person will step into that house and just HAVE to have it :) I wanted to get as much done as I could so that we could not have to go over any more than absolutely necessary. I now have a healthy respect for allowing your body to recover in between work outs! It was far easier to behave on my eating too because I was in complete control. Bless my honey, but he doesn't always pick the best places to eat!
Tonight, the church is putting on their Sweetheart Soirre. Hubby and I will go eat steak at the church and laugh and have a good time with others from our congregation. At the same time we will be supporting this fun fundraiser for our worship team. Good, because I'd hate to have to find energy to make something for dinner.
