In Christ

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

I have been asked by my mentor to meditate on an idea or two this week. One of the things she said in our study last week was that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. That is not some day to come, but right now. That means that we can go to heavenly places because we are already there. The spirit world is all around us, but many people, Cristian people, don't even know it exists, much less ever see it. Yeah they know it, but they don't KNOW it if you understand what I mean. We can see into the spirit world if we are in tune with it. Then I found a couple of other scriptures about how we are to clothe ourselves with Christ. I love that picture! We must make a conscious effort to clothe ourselves. We pick it up, choose it, button up, etc. Daily we are told to put on the armor of Christ. There are many scriptures that say that He Himself is our peace, He is our shield, our righteousness, our salvation, the way the truth and the life. You get the picture. Then another verse says that we are hidden in Christ. I really like this one. That one says to me that we are no longer visible, only Christ is. So when we face the enemy he truly gets scared, because he knows his defeat at the cross and it was ugly. Jesus triumphed over him openly destroying all of his works there. This may not have been the direction she wanted me to take, but the Word and the Spirit will teach us what we need to know. I had fun and I hope it gets you to wondering and learning a little this week. I've got to go get dressed now.

What a Day!

Tuesday, November 01, 2011

I am too tired to think of anything profound this morning :)> My boss forgot to schedule anyone to relieve me and my co-worker at midnight last night. My co-worker remembered a comment being made the night before about how the usual person would be off so, luckily, we checked the schedule just a few minutes after no one showed up. I did not leave the facility until 1 am. Luckily, I have no problem whatsoever going to sleep very quickly.
I was upset with myself when I realized I had not sent my son's rent check to him last night, especially more so this morning when I found it in my purse. I had no excuse whatsoever, really. I made fresh pumpkin pies for the girls from the eyes, noses and mouths of thier jack-o-lanterns. I thought I had gotten an early start, but they did not come out of the oven until I was already later than I wanted to arrive at the facility for their party. Anyone who knows me knows that I really do not like Halloween but I do this every year for the girls and the girls alone. As I was getting ready to leave, the church called saying that someone had dropped off several bags of clothes for the girls and what should they do with them. Well, I would be right by to get them I said. Then there were the pants my son asked me to take to the cleaners for him that I had forgotten about until I got in the car. He comes back from hunting today so I really needed to get it done.
My husband called yesterday morning as soon as my son shot a deer. I really thought it was kind of funny listening to him huff and puff as he walked and talked about it. I think he was more excited than usual. They were not expecting to get one as dry as it has been this year. It is not huge, but the biggest one to date that my son has shot. I am not a fan of deer meat, but excited for my son. I know my husband is out exercising, too, so that is another added benefit :) So today I have to allow time to go get freezer paper and tape because they will come home before I am back at work. Oh yeah, and I need to go to the post office to drop off the other son's rent check. I am already tired just thinking about it all!. Do I dare try making it to prayer at noon? Maybe that is where I need to start!
So anyway, I hope you all have a productive day with no regrets. Keep your head up because the chances of you having my yesterday are slim. I've already taken it out of the rotation for a while!

Wholehearted

Monday, October 31, 2011

What does it mean to love God with all our hearts, souls and minds? Well, think first of what it means to love the person you love the most. You would never think of doing something to intentionally hurt that person now would you? And if you did hurt them you would be quick to apologize and make it right. Your thoughts of that person would be more intimate than, say, of a stranger. You would spend as much time with that person as you could possibly do and it would end too quickly when it did. When you are separated for even short periods of time, you long for them. The cool thing is we are never separtated from God unless we choose to be of our own decision. Still we know that something is seriously lacking. You spend time with them because you love them not because someone told you you should. You want to know everything about that person and you do know them better than any other simply because you have had many intimate conversations with them. You want to introduce them to others and make sure that others don't miss out on a rare opportunity to know someone so special. You are proud of them and don't hide them from others. Does this sound like your realtionship with God? God does not want us to reserve our hearts for anyone other than Him. He does not reserve His heart for anyone but us. He wants every part of us sold out to Him, our heart, our emotions, our very essence. We cannot have one foot in the grave and one foot in life. We need to choose to live or the gangreen will consume all that we are. There is no room for compromise. The world does not know what to do with those who are wholehearted. We are not of this world and our citizenship is in heaven. We are a foreingner here. We look foreign, we sound foreign, our thoughts and actions ar different. We should live differently than others. If there is no difference between us and those around us then we need to check our citizenship. We need to seek to please Him with all we are and not reserve our hearts in any way to please this world or fit in or enjoy the pleasures of walking in darkness. The pleasures of having true joy, all our hearts desires given to us, promises fulfilled, prayers heard and answered, peace in the storm far exced the joys of fitting in. This is only a part of our inheritance with God. We miss out on nothing by living for God with all our hearts. God is seeking for those who will give Him everything, every little thing no matter what we think it will cost. Even if we should give our lives, which I think is rare in the US, we would receive the highest of honors when we see Him face to face. I would be like giving Him the best Christmas present ever! I do not know how else to put it. Sell out to God. Though many will say you have lost it, you will have gained far more. Invest in that which will not rust or fade away. Instead of settling for paper invest in gold.

Love Your Neighbor

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Love your neighbor. When he battles over property lines, or trash or animals, love your neighbor. Love your neighbor when your child spits on you and tells you he hates you. Love your neighbor. Love your neighbor when he cuts you off in traffic. Love your neighbor. Love your neighbor when she gossips about you and you lose your job because of it. Love your neighbor. Love your neighbor when they are most unlovable because you know that is when he needs it most. Love your neighbor when they hurt. Love your neighbor when they are out of town, and not only then! Love your neighbor when they have hurt you deepest. Love your neighbor when they hurt your child. Love your neighbor when he is homeless. Love your neighbor when he is drunk. Love your neighbor when they need a friend. Love your neighbor when they are all alone. Love your neighbor when she is lost and show her the way. Love your neighbor enough to put their needs above your own. Love your neighbor when you feel there is nothing in it for you. Just love your neighbor.

Will You Stand?

Saturday, October 29, 2011

Satan is the master of deception. He will take the truth and alter it slightly so that we do not see it as a lie. We are cautioned strongly about adding to or taking away from what His word says. So when we take something evil and add a little truth to it so that it is palatable to us, it is still evil. It doesn't work either way. That is why it is so very important that, as Christians, we know the Word of truth inside out and forwards and backwards. Someone once asked Smith Wigglesworth to recommend a good book on healing (he was known for raising the dead). His only response was the Word of God. There is no better book to get to know the author of our salvation. People who are trained to spot counterfeit money don't study the counterfeit, they study the real thing so that they instantly recognize the counterfeit when they see it. We should do the same. It is rarely readily accepted to stand against the norm. It is not easy to be the one doing it either. But when you are convinced that you are right, it is something you must do. If the world hated Jesus, why should we expect less? We need to take an honest look at our lives and see if we are courting the acceptance of those around us, afraid to rock the boat or if we truly believe what we say we stand for. We can ask God to reveal Himself to us and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness. If we lack wisdom all we need to do is ask for it and He will give it to us liberally without finding fault. It is time we purify ourselves and begin to look different than the world around us. It is time the power returns to the church. Saints like Moses and Esther and Daniel should not be the exception, but the rule. Are you willing to take a stand that makes you unpopular in order to see the true power of a life submitted to God? Are you willing to take the rejection of people in order to find the true favor of a friend of God? Are you ready to see the power of an awesome God displayed in your community beginning in your own life? Are you ready to see what has never been seen before and to hear what has not been heard before? Are you willing to take your prayer life to that next level? We should not be satisfied with yesterday's manna any longer. The world needs to see the church in all its glory displaying the hope for the hurting and deliverance for the captives. It is time the church knows who she is and is not afraid.

I couldn't agree more! I have a friend who often hangs out another person. My friend keeps telling me that they are good 'friends' and this 'friend' has done so much for them. The truth is that this 'friend' is leading them down the wrong path. Every time my friend gets around them there are all kinds of compromises being made in terms of shirking responsibilities. My friend has treated other friends badly because they are so led astray by this person. It's evil mixed in with a little truth and my friend is so much under the influence of this 'friend' its like a leaf being blown about in the wind. It's even compromising my friend's relationship with God. I keep saying you need to take a stand for what you believe, this person is leading you down the wrong path, you need to end this relationship because it's not healthy. It's so very frustrating and I'm hoping it doesn't reach a place where I need to evaluate my friendship with this person.
