120/70

Thursday, October 07, 2010

I had a checkup with the oncologist yesterday. Mostly a waste of time, but my blood pressure was finally back into a normal range after a few years of being high! I may not be losing weight lately but at least the exercise is paying off in other ways!

And yes, everything is still fine, all the blood tests were good. Couple more weeks and another mammogram, which I am certain will still be negative.

Snickers

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Well I made the mistake of buying a bag of fun sized snickers - after all I have a skinny teenager at my house. Then yesterday was very stressful - car repair of over $500. So I was bad, did not exercise, ate 5 of said snickers, and a brownie that was left over from a picnic the skinny teenager attended.

Then for dinner my favorite non-fried comfort food, meatloaf.

Oh well, tonight will be better. I always avoid candy while watching the Biggest Loser. Try to only eat low cal healthy things during the show :) And no teenager home for dinner so crustless quiche and turkey bacon for me and the hubby.

Now if I can just do some floor exercises before he gets home from work......

How are those floor exercises going? Hope you're getting them in as I write. emoticon

As for the snickers.. get rid of them. Tell your hubby to take them to work, or have the kids share them with friends.. You've had yours, and tomorrow is a new day, perfect for a fresh start. You can do this Cindy! Maybe it'd be helpful if you tried carrot sticks as your 'go to' food when coping with stress.. or celery?? Just a thought.. Wishing you all the best, as always & hope life settles down for you soon.

I can't eat anything bad while watching Dancing with the Stars either. Most are so skinny and graceful. I want to be just like them!

Medium

Monday, September 20, 2010

Well Saturday evening was fun! I took my oldest daughter out for her birthday, first a bunch of us went out to eat (not good for me, but fun), then just us girls ( and my youngest daughters boyfriend because he forgot to plan a way to escape) went shopping. Because we did not get to look at what we wanted my youngest daughter and I went shopping again on Sunday afternoon for awhile.

Now she is very thin and likes her clothes tight so she has always complained about how loose I like to wear mine. But yesterday for the first time in at least ten or twelve years I actually bought a shirt in a medium!! It is a little more form fitting than I usually perfer but Natalie was correct - it did look better than the large. And since some of the sweaters from last winter were a 2X I am very happy!

Now because of the bad eating this weekend I am up three lbs of water, but I know that if I drink extra today and get back on track that will leave. And I still own the medium shirt :)

Glad you got to enjoy some quality 'gal time' too.. Can never have enough of those..

PS.. Your blog really put a big smile on my face. Thanks for that.

Struggling with motivation and a compliment

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Well today is one of those days when I am struggling - once again no weight loss, in fact up a lb. Now I know the lb up is just water weight or a normal flucuation, but it still is the same number on the scale. When I go a month and lose nothing it is really frustrating!!! I have been exercising, have been avoiding "white" except for Sunday (church picnic and sad because my son wasn't there), but still nothing.

But as we were getting ready to go out for lunch - instead of eating what we had brought - I got a compliment. My boss's boss who hardly ever talks to me asked if I had been losing weight, said she had really noticed, and asked what I had been doing.

Now we still went out for lunch mind you - but I got a grilled chicken on wheat sandwich with a side salad instead of fries.

So make sure you notice thing, give people encouragement, sometimes it will make a difference you are not even aware of.

I agree, a sincere compliment can boost motivation. I hit a plateau for a month, too. It was beyond frustrating! Then someone said I looked vibrant and it lifted my spirits. I'll take vibrant over beautiful any day. Vibrant means healthy, energetic, alive. Then it hit me, my weight loss had slowed, but my energy had soared. The scale isn't the only measurement that counts, so don't give up!

If your: clothes fit better, you sleep better, you eat better, you FEEL better...isn't that the REAL thing? (Oh, and don't forget that nice compliment... emoticon)

Senior Pictures

Monday, September 13, 2010

Well yesterday I went with my youngest child to have her senior pictures taken. We visited five different spots and the photographer took over 500 pictures. While I am sure many of these will be beautiful, I am not looking forward to the bill as she is charging by the hour. I thought we had discussed it ahead and asked her to keep it down to 4 hours, but I am thinking that is going to be ignored. Oh well, last one!!

In a way this makes me sad - it will be a year with many "last times", like Friday night when I did concession stand duty at a football game. It was fun, and my last time. I will only have to go to one more school conference, help pick out a dress for one more winter formal and one more prom. And I am sure I will cry at the graduation - something I did not do at the others - because it will be the last one.

It is also going to be a year of "firsts" though. My older daughter is having her First anniversary next week, my son left for college - the first one of my kids that left town. I am sad and have been eating too much sugar - I need another way to cope.
