Beautiful! I especially love the one with the chair. I used to have a card that I picked up because it reminded me of my grandmother, who mothered us when our mother was too ill. The card had a beautiful picture of a garden with a bench. Granny had died quite a few years earlier when I found that card. When I saw that picture, I could immediately "see" my grandmother sitting on the bench smiling at me. I kept the card for years. I finally gave it away, with an appropriate note, when a friend's grandfather died. Now, every time I see a bench or chair in a garden, or even a picture of one, I still think of my grandmother. She was a wonderful lady!

Looks like a powerful storm, but beautiful at the same time!
I've seen Lake Superior a few times in my life, but never when it's been stormy.
Great pics!

"living salad bar"

Monday, July 07, 2014

I'm making a "living salad bar". I didn't have an actual "bar" or table to make one in like the photos I saw but this will work. The tub will fill in with leaf lettuce. Thought it was a neat idear.

So far, I have chives, salad burnet, parsley, tomatoes, leaf lettuce, purslane.....

I know the photo isn't the greatest. :)

That is a great idea! My sister grows herbs and tomatoes and such. I think I will mention this to her for next year. She is quite a bit farther south than you, so it is probably too late to start it this year.

Yum! Garden fresh salads to go. Now you just have to keep your little buddies from digging up your garden.

Does your mulch have a purplish tint or is that just an illusion from the way the picture posted?

One of my favorite parts of scripture...

Friday, June 13, 2014

I posted this elsewhere so figured I might as well share it here too.
emoticon emoticon

One of my favorite parts of scripture. The smartest scholar, even "bible scholar," in the world can't truly understand the things of God if it's only with his mind and doesn't open his heart/spirit to God.

1 Corinthians 1:20-25 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men........ 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Squirrels everywhere here, but I've never seen them with babies. Baby robins in the garage just left. Now there's teeny tiny birds in the vine/bush that covers one side of the porch. The eggs were white with brown speckles. Sparrow????

It actually takes me longer to get the squirrels to come to me than the chipmunks. A lot of chipmunks run to me for peanuts when I'm in the yard. lol This particular squirrel lives in the roof of my small garage and her babies just started coming out. so cute! :)

So cute! I was at my son's house two weeks ago watching a snake go up a tree to a squirrel's nest. Don't know if he left hungry or not.

WOW - to get a squirrel to eat out of your hand is not too difficult, but a chipmunk (second photo) is really hard! Good for you! emoticon

    How cute!

I remember when I was a little girl, I had an uncle who was able to feed the squirrels in his yard from his hand. He use to come out to house to pick acorns up for them too.
