Getting Healthy & Fit Is A Joy!

Starting The Week With A emoticon On My Face!

I'm Filled With Joy That I Make The Effort To Workout And Eat Nutritiously. I Couldn't Do Either Of These Without God's Help. Truly He's A PRESENT In My Life! emoticon

I Make No Excuses When It's Time to Workout~I Just Do It! emoticon

What Motivates Me? Well...When I'm Moving Around Rather Dancing, Walking Or Kickboxing And My Workout Clothing Begin To Sag Really Low, I Keep It Up Because I'm Not Where I Want To Be But I'm So Proud I'm Not Where I Used To Be! emoticon

I Also Make My Workouts Fun And I Do Sets or Blocks of Cardio And Strength Training.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

When You Feel Like You're Having A Party During An Intense Workout And You're Still Smiling I'd Say It's Definitely Part of My Life That I Will NEVER Let Go! emoticon

Of Course, I've Had Times When Working Out Was A Chore, Tears Ran With The Sweat And I Wondered Why Was I Doing All of This. Then I Saw The Bigger Picture. emoticon

It's More Than Losing Weight. It's Creating A New Me Spirit, Soul And Body! It's Getting My Natural Life In Line With What God Has Called Me To And To Remove Any Hindrances That Have Been In My Way. emoticon

If You're Having Problems Getting Your Workout In And You Don't Have Any Health Issues That Is Halting Your Progress, A Few Suggestions:
1. Start Slow. Warm Up(Not Stretching) By Doing A Slower Walk Or Jogging Instead of Running. Walk. March In Place.

2. Don't Think You Have To Do A 60 Minute Workout Every Day. Less With A Bit More Intensity Works. 30 Minutes Cardio Most Days Of The Week Is The Suggestion And Rest Days Too. For Strength Training It Is Suggested That We Work Each Muscle Group Several Times Per Week With Rest A Day Or Two Between Working Out The Same Muscles.

3. If Anything You Do Make You Feel VERY Uncomfortable or Extremely Painful You May Be Performing It Improperly So STOP! (There Will Be A Little Pain When You First Start Working Out And When You Put In A Lot of Time And Intensity.)

4. Workout With A Buddy. This Is Not My Favorite But Sometimes Having Someone For Moral Support Will Motivate You To Get Out There With That Person.
5. If You Fail One Day, Just Take A Deep Breath And Start All Over Again. emoticon

SparkPeople Fitness Videos Are GREAT To Use In A Sensible Workout Plan. I Utilize Them Daily. And Now You Can Get 6 Points Per Day(2 Videos) emoticon

Also There Are Demos Of The Strength Training Moves That You Can Watch To See The Proper Way To Perform Them. Plus Many Articles To Help You Understand Even More, So Utilize ALL The Tools On Spark You Need For A Successful Journey. emoticon

Well I Started Out Rejoicing Over My Fitness Triumphs Then I Went Another Route. Maybe Someone Needed To Hear It But There's More Than What I Shared. Exercising Is Very Important, But I Don't Want You Injuring Yourself Trying To Workout Too Intense When You May Not Be Ready. Or Performing Moves Improperly That You Sprain Or Strain A Muscle. emoticon Get Informed and Be Safe!

My Typical Workout Week Is Like This:
M: Cardio Dance Such As Zumba 35mins, Lower Body Strength Videos 30mins Total
T: Cardio Such As Kickboxing Or Walk Total 50 mins and Upper Body Videos 30 mins
W: Zumba 50 Mins
T: Cardio Dance To Old School 35mins, Lower Body And Core 30 Mins
F: Zumba or Cardio Dance 60 Mins
S: Cardio 40+mins and Upper Body Strength Videos 30 mins
S: 10 Min Cardio Kickboxing and It's My Rest Day.
I Do Change Up By Adding Walking Thus Increasing My Minutes Or Extend My Dance Sessions. Depends On How Much Fun I'm Having. Now Zumba Is Different Than My Playlist. But It's A GREAT Wet Workout! emoticon

Ok...I've Shared More Of My Plan Than I've Ever In A Blog. But That's What A Blog Is For. Of Course, I Always Have Room For Change. And Most Days I Do. I'm Really Enjoying Those Spark Videos And There Are So Many That It Would Be Very Hard To Get Bored. emoticon

If You Were Brave Enough To Read All Of This Impromptu Blog emoticon emoticon I Truly Appreciate Your Time!
Have A Wonderful Week! Do What YOU Can! NO PRESSURE! emoticon

Hello and Happy September! emoticon emoticon

I Got Goals! emoticon

Trying To Make It Simple By Breaking Down My Longer Time Goals.

1. I Want To Lose 8lbs This Month. emoticon

2. I Want To Intensify My Workouts And Also Cut The Time. emoticon

3. Get Over 6 Hours of Sleep Per Night. emoticon

I Think This Will Make It Easier For Me To Track My Progress If I'm Working Toward A Specific Goal Each Month Than Looking Farther Down The Road. I Was Motivated In A Summer Challenge And I Made Great Progress By Developing Goals And Defining Them. I Want To Lose 25lbs But What Do I Do Before That Happens? That's Where I Get The 8lbs From.

I Started Combining My Workouts Into One Session On Days I Do Cardio and Strength Training. I Perform Cardio First Then Immediately My Strength Training. It's Very Invigorating And Fulfilling. emoticon I Believe You Also Burn More Calories When You Do Your Workout Like This.

I Will Continue To Track My Meals But I'll Reduce The Amount I'm Eating On Different Days. Although I Can Go Up To 1600 Calories I May Not Strive To Get That High. I Will Stay On The Flat Belly Meal Plan (Mediterranean) For The Long Run. I Enjoy Eating The Health Fats and It's Helping My Heath To Improve.

God Is My Personal Trainer! He Leads And Guides Me IN This Journey And He's The Reason Why I'm Here. I Trust Him And I Know I CAN Do All Things Through Christ Who Gives Me The Strength. emoticon

I Challenger You All To Make Small Goals To Attain This Month To Spark Your September And Fall Will Come In With Great Success Under Our Belts! emoticon

Whatever You Choose For This Month I Am Cheering You On! emoticon

Be Empowered To Prosper! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Love To All!

I've Come A LOOONNNGGG Way!!!

Friday, August 24, 2012 Dianna Ross Singing "I'm Coming Out!"

Earlier this week I was thinking about where I wanted to be. Not really down about it but not celebrating at the time. Then God reminded me where I USED to be. First, I measured my BMI then I emoticon & emoticon. Here's what I came up with:

1. Current Weight: 168 Starting Weight: 233

2. Current BMI: 28 Starting BMI: 38 Went from Obese to Overweight! emoticon

3. Current Sizes: 14/16 Starting Sizes: 24/26 emoticon

4. Current Fitness Level: Intermediate Starting Fitness Level None to low emoticon
When I started my journey in 07 I was using a cane & wheel chair because of health issues. Used a handicapped sticker when driving. Rarely did anything remotely kin to exercise besides walk to the kitchen and eat a bunch of junk food. emoticon

Now I'm doing Zumba(on my own using YouTube video). I've walk/run a 5k. I can walk miles around my neighborhood. Strength train at least 3 times a week. I press through when I want to stop because I'm getting somewhere. I've never been like this before in my adult life. I thought there was NO hope. That I had to use a quick fix but never found one. BUT GOD! He brought me to SparkPeople and everything changed! emoticon

5. Current Nutrition Plan: Mediterranean Food Plan I eat lots of healthy fats(Love Almond Butter!), Eat lots of veggies and fruits. Don't eat a lot of meat although I do. Eat more Tilapia, Salmon and Shrimp. Baked! I've been drinking my 8 or more glasses of water per day since July. (This was really hard for me to do.) If I eat any sweets it's with a lot of moderation because I know me and I can eat an entire cake without having any type of "emotional problem". emoticon
Past Nutrition Plan: Lot's of fried food. Chinese Food. Fast Food. Candy, Cookies, Cake and Real Sugar in Everything. Just UNHEALTHY! emoticon

6. Lots of Inches Lost. Don't Have A Tally Now But My Chest(I Still Can't Use The B Word Since Elementary School emoticon) Is down 6 inches since I started and if you've been in my photos you've seen how great I feel about that.

So I'm Thanking God for How Far I've Come. Could Have Been Further But Had Times When I Gained Weight In A Month Because of Bad Eating Habits. But I Know Now That I Want To Be and Stay Healthy and Fit and I CAN DO IT! emoticon

More Pictures:

2009 my smallest before I gaines some back. I moved before this picture was taken and oh my does moving burn off the calories!

May 2012

Sorry some of my pictures are blurry. My camera doesn't take pictures like the old one I had. Next time I will have more full length CLEAR pictures.

Thanks for CELEBRATING with me! I'VE COME A LOOONNNGGG WAY! emoticon

I'm Persevering and not giving up EVER! With God ALL things ARE Possible!!! emoticon

Blessings To YOU All! emoticon emoticon

It was so nice to read such a positive and successful blog.
Yes, God has been with you. He shows us the way, but some times we stray but God is there to help get us back on track. You just have to be positive and believe, With your strong belief , you will achieve all that you desire.
Keep up the healthy eating, do the exercises and besides making you feel great, you will continue to lose weight and live the life you want to live.
Just think I weighed another 100 pounds more than you did at your highest.
When I see those numbers and look at the before photos, it'so hard to relate to how I am today.
Take care,
Be strong, stay positive.

I am sooooo happy for you. I so relate. You are where I want to be. In 2008 I was 230 even spiraling up to 263 over the years and down to 223. Health problems in 2010 caused me to have to use a wheelchair and eventually walk with a cane but the weight is down to 186, 51pounds to goal to go.
I've had some ups and downs even now with the weight ,(I have been as low as 180 this year),
But I'm here and still trying to lose weight with diet, exercise, water, sleep and meditation.
Your blog gives me hope emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Proverbs 18:21 KJV:
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Yes this is so true! Many times in Proverbs and other places in the Bible we are exhorted to watch what we say and keep a watch over our mouths. So many times we may blurt out words that do not give life. Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:29, that our words should edify. That means to build someone up.

Before, during and after this initial journey we will encounter those who speak words that doesn't make us want to dance a jig. Especially before we started taking the weight off and reclaiming our health. Growing up overweight as a child was not fun and I was the person at the end of a lot of fat jokes and add the fact that my chest developed in the 5th grade LARGELY! emoticon You can imagine a child's self-esteem during those years.

We may find ourselves during our journey getting hit with words that are not edifying from those who never knew us before and don't know how far we have come. Or...those who do and think we are losing too much because "you look sick or like you are on drugs". Words are powerful! They can hurt, kill, steal, diminish, destroy or they can lift and give life.

Positive and Negative. God created Everything with Words! Powerful Good Words! Then He Called It and Us GOOD! emoticon

What are YOU saying about yourself? Or...what are you thinking about yourself?

I had to get myself a wake up call when I started reverting back to that insecure thinking that I thought was past. I hear something that "offends" me and I dwell on it. Then I start to question my triumphs and get back to that stinking thinking. I DON'T WANT TO BE THERE AGAIN! emoticon

God tells us that we have the option to choose Life or Death. He admonishes us to CHOOSE LIFE. That's in anything we do. I CHOOSE LIFE!

I refuse to go back to my former thought life or spoken words that were not words that edify or build myself up. I will speak what I want to be and not what I don't want. The best rule is to operate in The Love of God which means we Love God With ALL we are, Love ourselves and Love everyone else like we love ourselves. (We have to love ourselves so we can love others.)

I'm determined to Love myself and see myself the way God sees me. I see the end from the beginning. That means I'm seeing my expected end. The way I will look when the weight is off. Any other goals that I have I'm going to speak Life words. Words are TOO powerful to let one fall out of our mouths that are useless.

Jesus said in Matt 12:36, 'But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."

Oh yes! Father I repent for any idle words or none edifying words that I have said that needs repenting of. I am determined to speak LIFE to myself and others! Thank you!

And...thank YOU if you read this today. Much love to you! WE ARE ALL WINNERS...NOW!

Amen! Thanks for sharing this Deb! Words have the ability to build up or tear down! Let's edify one another in Christ! We are above and not beneath! We are the head and NOT the tail! We have been made the righteousness of God! We are accepted in the Beloved. We are not our own, we have been bought with a price and we belong to God. We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs to you, Christine

Let the words of my mouth & the edification of my heart be exceptable in His sight oh Lord my Rock & my Redeemer! I am convicted daily as I want to get the last word of every conversation even if it hurts someone, or to think some quick comeback for the person who deeply wounded me because they dislike me. I like many are dealing with this everyday. Sometime I am victorious in holding my tongue then again not so much. It is uphill journey with my mouth but I won't stop....Thank you for this blog Deb!

God bless & Love!

It is so true that words hurt. That old saying, Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me" is so false. Words hurt a lot worse than sticks and stones. Hurtful words are with us for a lot longer than anyone wants to admit.

Happy Tuesday To You All! emoticon

I Pray Everyone Is Enjoying Another Great Week! I'm Still Going Strong Getting My Workouts Completed, Eating My Proper Meals And Getting In My 8 or More Glasses of Water. SLEEP! Still Trying To Get It In! emoticon

Now My PERSONAL POLL is About the Picture Up There. I Took It Sunday While Sitting In The Car Looking In The Mirror. I Saw It And Thought...This Is Cute! So Later I Sent It To A Female Relative for Her Opinion. She Just Mentioned That I Look LIke My Grandpa and Asked Why It Was So Close. So That's Why I'm Seeking Opinions.

As I Lose The Weight and Inches I Get Different Comments From Family Members and A Lot of Them Say I'm Small Enough. Ughhh! lol I Think They Are Used To Seeing Me A Certain Way For So Long That My Change May Be Alarming Them. Of Course, Most of Their Lives They Were Small. emoticon

I'm Not Having An Emotional Melt Down or Anything But I Want To See Different Opinions. I'm Getting Older Also So I Don't Look The Same As I Did When I Started This Journey Anyway. But Praise The Lord That I Love Me and No Matter What I Can Think I'm Cute Now lol. (That Took A While To Love Me!)

And On My Other Note I'm Sending Birthday Greetings To My Daughter Who Turned 25 Today! She Almost Wasn't But In My 8th Month of Pregnancy God Pulled Her Through Alive! She's A Miracle For God's Purpose! Thank You Lord For My Daughter Jacinda!

Love To All! (You Don't Have To Mention The Picture. :))
