Completed Day 1 of C25K

Sunday, January 31, 2010

I pushed myself, but it was not a pleasant sight. My boys were laughing in the background as I stopped the treadmill exactly at 20 minutes gasping for air and water to drink. Not to worry, I will see if there is any improvement on tomorrow.

Congratulations on getting started on C25K...It's a wonderful program! Don't forget to take a rest day (from running...you can do other cardio) in between run days and don't be afraid to slow your pace a little bit if you need to. Good luck on your journey!

I am thankful for my SPARK FRIENDS

Sunday, December 20, 2009

I just got home from my visit with my brother, which was very soothing & peaceful. He is hanging in there. I was surprised he was able to whisper and laugh at me a couple of times. But to get the overwhelming words of encouragement and prayers, I am grateful to be a part of a great family of people. You all are GREAT. emoticon

My brother is really dying...

Saturday, December 19, 2009

As I sit and really meditate on God's sovereignty, I have began to accept my brother will be leaving us really soon. He has battled diabetes with AIDS for the past nine years. Now he refuses to take any more treatments, he has not eaten in over a week, and he is now in & out of consciousness. Hospice is trying to make his transition as comfortable as possible. I am getting on the plane to Cincinnati today to let him know how much I love him and more importantly how much God loves him.

Please pray for our family during this very tough time.

So sorry to hear about your brother. That sounds really tough to go through. He is blessed to have a sister like you to share God's love with him. Both of my uncles died around Christmastime after battling cancer, and it was so hard on the family. Our prayers will be with you.

Oh honey I was very sorry to read about what you and your family are going through. The only comfort is that he will no longer be in pain and will be at peace with God's grace.

Our God is an awesome God even in our times of pain and loss (sometimes these are the times that we see/experience His/God's love and miracles the most profoundly!).     I went through the same with my father last year. Being by your brothers side is the best thing you can do for both him and you. Keep in mind that your brother will be with God and out of pain. This is what I tell myself everyday after my dad lost the battle with cancer. I will have you and your family in my prayers during this difficult time.

McDonalds

Friday, November 13, 2009

Three weeks of depriving myself from McDonalds french fries. They were the reason for my rapid weight gain. I could not resist any longer. Fish Sandwich, med fry & sweet tea. What was I thinking???? Then I put the meal in my nutrition log. 835 calories....Took me over my calorie count today. Lesson learned.....

Carry carrots and finger veggies on hand so you won't enter into the drive-thru emoticon when craving... emoticon

    I love them. Omggg.

It probably wouldn't hurt you to eat a small fries every now and then. We can't completely deprive ourselves or we won't stick with it.

If you like sweet potatoes they make really good fries if you bake them twice. :)

Good luck and thanks for the blog comment.

OK, that's not the worst thing you could have done! What is important is that you "tracked" that food, whereas most people just quit tracking for the day when they cheat because they don't want to see the calorie count. That is a challenge, and you did it!

Don't feel too bad about 1 trip to McD's....if you know you will crave it, then work it into your menu, say, one day a month...that way, you can look forward to it, and enjoy it without any guilt!

Chances are, by the time the day comes...you won't even want it!
Best of all....no feeling bad about anything!
Remember...nothing tastes as good as healthy feels!!!!

Go team!!!

hugs and love,
Cathy

Oh McD's. Their food is so good yet so bad for us. I purchased (a few months back) the Calorie King book and I have to say if you look up what you're craving before you go, it just might be what you need to turn the car around dispite how good the fries are and believe me I know they're good!

McDonalds is my downfall as well....I really try hard to stay away. Their coffee is so irresistable, but if I stop for a cup, I can never say no to one of the breakfast biscuits ---end up with a 600 calorie breakfast -----YIKES!

My coworkers brought in pumpkin bars today with cream cheese. My weakness. I couldn't resist. I don't even want to look at how much I went over...but I will. Here's to burning those calories and recommitment!
