Stillness

Stillness
As I've visited my husband in the hospital this past week, I've had time to hone in on the stillness of the setting. At times, the only sound is the rhythmic ticking of his IV, and the up and down of his breathing as he sleeps. I then become aware of the beep-beep of a call light down the hall, rushing footsteps, doors opening, and shutting. Sometimes it's the laughter of visitors or the impatient cry of a young child. Other times, I can hear chairs scraping across the floor or a gurney on its way . Many times, though, I hear my own sigh, as I pray for my darling....Blessings to you, Sweetheart, as you continue to heal...

    Hi Chrys,

I am so sorry about your husband. I certainly hope he is improving. God Bless and Heal him. I have been selfishly lax about reading blogs lately and I sincerely apologize. My prayers are with you Chrys. I will have to read the rest of your blogs and catch up on what exactly is happening.

Take care of yourself too my friend. Sometimes it is the last thing on our minds when we are worried about a loved one. Remember, I order to help him you have to help yourself be well and healthy first.

I'm Sparkling!

I'm Sparkling
I'm thrilled to turn the calendar page to February as I'm even more committed to this positive lifestyle! I've reset my weight goal in conjunction with my long term goal for 2010. I'm excited about the short-term actions and medium term milestones that I've set and I'm looking forward to achieving the rewards that I have in place. I continue to be amazed and thankful for all that SparkPeople offers...the friends, the teams, the coaches, the inspiration, the support, the understanding, the fun, the camaraderie, the motivation, the knowledge, ....the list goes on and on. As I said, I'm absolutely Sparkling!

Blizzard in Minnesota

Blizzard in Minnesota
Made it into work this morning. Perhaps it was a good thing that it was dark and I didn't see just how iced-over the roads were/are!! Drove through areas of white-out conditions, but didn't think much about it until I got to work and that's all anyone talked of. By 11:00 a.m., all area schools were closed; and by noon, many of the buses returned, students still on! By 2:00 p.m., major state highways were closed and the snowplows were called off the roads! Ah, another day in Minnesota! LOL

Now that I don't miss. Our kids were saying it's the same in Manitoba. Schools were closed there as well. That black ice is a really terrifying thing. Keep safe Chrys.

Please be careful especially in the dark. You are very brave to drive on those roads. Could you call in sick, and take a few days off?

It's a part of who I am....now

It's a part of who I am...now
Freezing rain. High winds. Rain changing to wet, slushy snow. Me---walking outdoors! I had stayed inside almost all day and was pacing like a trapped animal! I put on my heavy, lined, rubber boots, my Columbia parka with hood, fingerless gloves, and headed out. It was slippery, but I developed a pace and stride within minutes and actually enjoyed the fresh air and moisture. The heavy, wet atmosphere provided a foggy screen across the lake and added to the mystery of the quiet walk...all that could be heard were my footsteps and the gusts of wind through the trees. Exhilarating!

The hubs and I just returned from our daily evening walk. A black velvet sky, low hung moon, wet pavements, quiet neighborhood. It is so refreshing to walk outdoors. Plus it gives us a chance to catch up on the day.

I do admire you for venturing boldly out into Minnesota's wintery weather. It IS invigorating to be out.

Hugs,
Usha.
