Ordinary Happiness Nov. 5th, 2011

Saturday, November 05, 2011

Once upon a time, my sister wrote to me
"Find your favorite comfy spot
and Dream your day away."

A CD of piano music by Emile Pandolfi is playing and I'm dreaming....
My godson just asked his girlfriend to marry him. They've known each other since they were freshmen at Stanford, seven years ago. She said "yes". My sister would be so pleased. She liked the 'the girl' a lot. (This part isn't a dream! They are engaged!)

I'm sharing a song with you, wishing I could find just the instrumental. It's the kind of song that simply 'takes you away'. Nonetheless, if you want, listen to it, and dream of your ordinary happiness.

Keola and Kapono Beamer - Honolulu City Lights
It seems that I can't get the link to you....it's such a dreamy, sentimental song. Check it out at YouTube.

It's so true that we need at least one day to restore our souls. You always have the best quotes and suggestions for peaceful living and I SO appreciate them in our high stress world. Blessed news I'm sure your beautiful sister is dancing in heaven. Have you seen any butterfly's lately...oh..yes...here's one now! emoticon

On My Path to Contentment
~~Cozy Warmth~~
Oh, to be enveloped in warmth..the coziness of a favorite quilt, a steaming cup of Highlander Grog coffee, my dog resting beside me in our favorite chair, being mesmerized by dancing flames of the fireplace- - -

We are all deserving of cozy warmth- - in our homes, and in our relationships.... the cozy warmth of believing in ourselves; of trusting ourselves, of holding that "I can do anything" attitude.

Ah...I'm cozy warm in my Spark-friendships...
I'm cozy warm in that my goals are achievable...
I'm cozy warm in contentment....

~~~and all because my cozy, warm husband bought me a pair of big, woolen mittens yesterday!
Stay cozy warm, my friends!
Ahhhh, LOVED THIS!!
Honey, I am the QUEEN of cozy, I'm not kidding you! One of my favorite memories when my girls were little was of holding them in their delicious clothing- soft velours and
corduroys and the coolest of cottons. My favorite activity of the day is getting into my bed, all cozied up (but menopause has been SUCH a spoil sport, as soon as I get cozy I have to rip the blankets off and toss them in a heap, LOL).
I love your gloves and your husband is a sweetie !! How blessed you are to have one another. God is so very good.
Gratitude
Being grateful is such a fulfilling way to go through life. It can be so easy to lose sight of what we do have and what we're blessed with.
There is always going to be something going on in our lives that will tempt us to feel sorry for ourselves or to remind us that things aren't just quite "perfect". It's so important at those times to keep in the forefront of our minds the beauty of what we do have; the treasures in our lives that make it unique....
We all have something for which to be grateful. What an enriching way to journey through life!
Count your blessings!
Things I've Learned From The Sun
Sunday, May 01, 2011
Things I've learned from the Sun:
When in doubt,
Always wear a slip.
Because once you realize you should've worn a slip,
It's too late.
Sunlight is a quiet, yet powerful teacher!
Having a sunny day?
Saturday's Joy
Saturday, April 02, 2011
Saturday's Joy
"Half the joy of life is in little things taken on the run. Let us run if we must---even the sands do that- - -but keep our hearts young and our eyes open that nothing worth our while shall escape us. And everything is worth its while if we only grasp it and its significance."...Victor Cherbuliez
I have found great joy today in organizing and de-cluttering. I read ONEKIDSMOM's blog this morning and she spurred me to free myself of the stress of my muddled-mayhem! I've got a long way to go, but worked on a hallway today, the dining room, and now am tackling the living room. In so doing, I've had the wonderful pleasure of reminiscing over many cards and letters my dear sister has sent me throughout the years. Oh, how grateful I am that I saved them! Granted, there were tears as I read those letters, but also many smiles as I reflected over confidences shared.
I'm on my way!! I will continue to de-clutter, organize, and get that stress out of my life. (I've already boxed-up items for Goodwill.) In accomplishing this, I will free myself to enjoy my home and free-up my spirit to enjoy those things that really matter.
As I lighten my home's load of clutter, I know that I will lighten-up, also, attaining those goals of health and well-being!
    I have been decluttering as well, starting with the hundreds of books I have acquired over the years. I have donated about half of them to the annual book sale that takes place in our town to benefit the library. I have a long way to go to but I feel good about being in the process.
    Nothing like a declutter and clean through to cleanse the soul LOL.
I go hammer and tongs at it every spring.
Great post, thanks for sharing Chrys emoticon emoticon
    Great blog. Thanks for sharing. That is something I need to do. I am terrible at doing this. I keep saying I am going to go through everything and get rid of it, but I have such a hard time getting started. I find myself overwhelmed by all I have to do. I did manage to go through my closet last week and I donated 3 bags of clothing to a church second-hand store. That's a start. I know I have lots more to do, though.
    I am trying to declutter some myself although not getting a lot done. I think I will make a list and get serious out it come Monday.
How is your Daughter in Law? (Hope I got that right).
Hugs, Sunny
    GREAT job Chrys! I always love to sit in our family room after it's been picked up and vacuumed. I feel enlivened by my clean fresh environment.
And how lovely to have mementoes from your beloved sister. What blessed wonderful memories you have.
xx Usha.
    It always feels good to "purge" those things we collect but no longer need. And nothing is more comforting than a clean, tidy environment in which to focus on that joy. (Which is my middle name, coincidentally.) :-) Good work!
    I've found that de-cluttering my physical life helps me to de-clutter my mental life. The two seem to go together. Congrats on your de-cluttering.
