    Welcome back!

Slowly does it. You are doing great if you have lost weight being away or even if you have maintained your weight.

I've been away for a year and gained it all back! I'm also back on the wagon and taking it one day and one kg (I'm Swedish...) at a time.

You got it cupcake!

Thursday, January 24, 2013

So my boss comes back from DC and he brings us all theses cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake, I cringe at the thought of saying no to a gift. I have been on so many diets in my life that limit food groups all that kept running through my mind was "You are going to gain back the 5lbs you lost!"

I avoid the box all day and as I was leaving he says....O, you have not eaten your cupcake. You have to try them they are the best in the world. I know may hand was shaking as I opened the box and staring back at me was these beautiful cupcakes.

I picked up one and placed it on a napkin and I must have stared at it for ten mins. I sat there and ate it slowly allowing myself to taste it and feel the texture. Normally I would have consumed it in two bites and been ready for a second and third. But I just enjoyed this one like a little treasured treat.

After I was done I swore I would not give it another thought, it was over and the cupcake was gone. When I was logging my food last night that little cupcake was still on my mind. But I did it!!! I managed to stay within my limits as a matter fact I was the closest I have ever been with all my numbers.

This morning the scales say I have lost another 1 lb despite my visit from TOM and that wonderful Georgetown Cupcake emoticon

Lesson for me was ...All things are allowed as long as I count them and we may not always be able to have our cake and eat it too but a little 200 cal cupcake is an okay treat as long as we count it and enjoy it for what it is worth.

You definitely can add a cupcake to your day, just adjust in other areas. You did!

Absolutely! Once a food is "forbidden", it becomes that much harder to resist. It's nice to know you can choose to have a treat as long as you track and keep it in moderation, isn't it?

My crazy journey

Monday, January 21, 2013

Just a little about me...I am 46 216lbs and my journey started many years ago back when I was 550lbs. I lost that over a few years of low carbing but would always yo-yo with it. Lose a few gain a few. Three years ago I was 160 lbs and happy with that. I was working out and eating right.

Late one winter night I was woken with chest pains and was rushed to the ER where my resting heart rate was 195 so I was admitted and relived to learn I was not having a heart attack. After many days of test I was told I had a mass on my adrenal glad that was effecting my heart rate and hormones. I was given medication and strict instructions that I was to do nothing to get my heart rate up.

I sank in a deep depression, quit my job and turned to the one comfort I knew best and that was food. Last March I was offered a job that I love and soon realized that I could not move as fast as I once could and that I was sore from the little lifting that I was doing on the job.

Getting out of the shower one night I caught a glimpse of my naked self....UGH How did I get back here? I knew then something had to change and I vowed when I got my check I was stocking the house with healthy food. I have tried a lot of fad diets over the years but believe it or not have never ever just decided to eat healthy.

My shopping went well and I started that very day, joined Sparks and now 5 days later I am down 4lbs....I am not sure if I will get it all right but I am sure going to try. The biggest change I have made is cutting out soda and sweet tea, I would consume a gallon a day.

I cannot do things that get my heart rate up but I can do strength training and walking short distances is okay too.....

I have to get healthy for me ...I am not getting any younger and I refuse to die of something I could have controlled...So let the new chapter begin

Me at 220 lbs

Well, here it is Nov the 11th 2013 and I have been off track for most of the year, good news is I have not gained and have even lost but really not sure how that happened LOL Since I was here last I have opened my own business and it is going amazing. Maybe the loss comes from the stress I have gone through with that.

What matters is I am back, I have support from my healthy slim husband, he has been amazing at helping me plan my meals and encouraging me to move forward. It really feels great to be back!

Hi Christy, I know that you will be feeling better and more strong as you take up this journey again! ♥ I too am not "dieting" but choosing to eat healthy. I can sympathize with your eating-out dilemma. I've found that I don't feel deprived when I realize I can have smaller portions and choose healthier options. I'm right there with you! emoticon

Thanks for sharing. Amazing that you were able to go from 550 to 160 on your own. Wow! You can do it again and get what you've gained off. I'm adding you as a friend. Would love to work together to reach our goals.

Dinner out tonight ugh

Monday, January 21, 2013

Normally I would be supper excited to be going to Lonestar Steak house, but I am a little nervous about tonight's outing, so much so all I have had to day is a small banana and a non fat yogurt. I feel great though as a matter fact have taken down a whole drop celiling in my dinning room and prepped the room for paint

I have been studying the menu and feel a little better but I know the temptations for the ribeye are going to be there. I know if I get any other steak I will be disappointed so I am going to opt for the grilled shrimp and a salad and I am taking my own dressing.

This is my first big challenge since changing my eating habits and I do not want to fail....

I did and even though it was a little higher in calories then I thought, I did manage to stay a little under my limits for the day. Had the Flat iron steak, a plain potato and a small salad and took my own dressing. I did have a very small bit of bread with a tab of butter. I am proud of myself tonight and feel good that I passed the challenge...Bring on the next one emoticon

Going out can be hard but good for you for checking out the menu in advance and going in with a plan.
