Maintenance is Key

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

I have been maintaining my goal weight range of 116-121 through exercise and eating moderately. I no longer log my food anymore. I pretty much eat what I want (until I am full), and then just go work it off after dinner at the gym. If I eat more, then I work out a little longer. If I eat light, then I don't need a heavy workout. This has become a routine for me.

Still doing great!

Friday, May 09, 2008

Well,
I hope everyone is off to the start of a great weekend. It is pretty here in Houston and I am looking forward to enjoying the sunshine today. I need to get the final alterations done on my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding, and after that I think I will go to Memorial Park and jog, then maybe some shopping.

I am still doing great with my fitness goals and maintenance. I am staying within my goal weight of 116-119 and all my clothes fit wonderful. I have bought so many cute bikinis, I need to stop. It just feels good to wear all these cute swimsuits and I feel my abs are in stellar shape!

I really do feel good though, besides the outside appearance. I feel energized and very happy that I have been able to maintain my goals. And, it isn't that hard. I have learned to pretty much eat whatever I want, just chart it and try and stay within my calorie range.
So my diet includes lots of Dessert Gallery ( my favorite restaurant to grab the ultimate slice of cake), Barbie cereal (yum...this stuff is so good), Godiva chocolate ( Have to keep it stocked in my house), and of course I do eat my fresh fruit and
vegetables too.

I guess the 1 healthy thing I do...lol...is I do start off my day with either fresh fruit or raw beets and carrots. That way I know I gave my body the nutrition it needed. Then I eat pretty much whatever I am in the mood for. But, if I eat cake, then it is spinach or fruit for dinner. If I eat 800 cal in one setting, then I eat super lite the rest of the day. This works really well for me.

Anyway, good luck to everyone else. Keep trying and you will figure out what works well for your body, and fine tune it. Everyone is different.

Just be sure that you get some protien in every day too! I hope you have a wonderful time at your friend's wedding!

This is getting easier by the day!

Thursday, March 27, 2008

I haven't written in a long time, but just wanted to say that I am doing fantastic with my fitness goals. I started this around Mid February and have not only achieved my goals but am continuing to maintain my desired weight.

At first, it was a little trying, monitoring and counting my calories, but it has gotten to be second nature and I can pretty much size the calories in food up just by looking at the dish. I have made small changes dining out at restaurants that are extremely effective.

Last night I had a large burrito at my favorite Mexican restaurant. But, instead of ordering it fully loaded with Chicken , beans, rice, sour cream, cheese, and sauce ( as it was on the menu), I had them make it without the rice, sour cream, and cheese and ordered the sauce on the side effectively making it a healthy dinner and shaving off hundreds of calories. This works at Taco Bell too. Order everything "Fresco" style and shave off a couple hundred calories and turn fast food into healthy fast food.

Anyway, I still chart what I eat daily. I carry a pocket diet diary with me everywhere so I am accountable for what I eat. I also weigh myself daily which I think is extremely important in maintaining your weight. You can lie to yourself, but the scale won't lie. If I see that I gained a pound from a heavy day of eating, I lose it immediately the next day by cutting back.

I also satisfy my cravings. If I crave something, I eat it. There is no use thinking about something all day and wishing you could have it. That only causes you to overeat it when you finally do get it. I just keep my house stocked with my favorites ( which currently is chocolate filled easter eggs, and Godiva of course!)

I also keep my set goals of exercise and mix it up between spin classes, elliptical, and running, along with weights at least 3 times a week. It is important to have set days you plan to do things. It keeps you on a consistent plan.

Anyway, I wish everyone good luck and am very happy with my success and hope everyone meets their goals very very soon!

I agree with you! But personally, fast food it TOO tempting to even set foot in the restaurant, for me! I prefer cooking at home, and only going out on my luxury days! (When I don't feel the guilt!)

I'm glad you've been able to stay consistent with your plan, and that it's working so well for you! YAY!

I love Captain Crunch

Thursday, February 28, 2008

This week has definitely been a cereal week for me. I have been craving it all week long . So, every night it has been Captain Crunch ( with Crunch Berries of course), and Apple Jacks. I love both of them, so instead of deciding I just have both.

Cereal is great because most of it is so lo calorie. 1 serving ( 1 cup) of Apple Jacks is a mere 120 calories and 1 serving of Captain Crunch (3/4 cup) only 100 calories. So, Usually I am full after 3 or 4 servings which is still an amazingly lo calorie dinner. I think people get into problems when they add all the milk.

I love my Soy Splendor Vanilla Soy Milk ( 1 cup only 70 calories), I usually use 1/4 cup though, and add 1/4 cup water so it's only like 20 calories.

Anyway, I am looking forward to having my Captain Crunch again tonight!

Do you like it crunchy-new or slightly soaked in your milk?

Either way, I have to agree that Captain Crunch is awesome (in the morning) and Captain Morgan is great at night. Long live the Captains!

Horray...I can fit in my Skinny Jeans.

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Well,
I have successfully dropped down to 119.4 which is within my target range of 116-120. I used to set a number but since my weight tends to fluctuate so much, I have picked a range I am happy with.
My new mini-goal: I would like to drop a couple more pounds and stay on the low end of my range which will give me a little cushion.
:If I reach 120, I will be extremely mindful of my diet that day, and successfully drop back to the mid to lower target range.
: Continue to maintain my weight successfully

Sometimes, losing the weight is easier than effectively keeping it off. I will view my diet as a healthy lifestyle and eating rather than just a diet to achieve a goal. This is a lifelong committment but totally worth it.

I love being able to slide on a pair of my Super Skinny Jeans. I have always kept my Skinny Jeans as motivation to achieve my goals and it is great to be able to wear them. Horray!

Of course, I did not achieve this on my own, but only through God's help and I pray every night and continue to pray that He will bestow upon me the gift of Temperance in everything.
