Let The Games Begin

Friday, January 06, 2012

Well we weighed in for our weight loss challenge today. I was up from what I was at home, but I expected that, since I ate breakfast and might have made sure to drink some water before I weighed in!! I am excited that my work environment will be supportive of a healthy, weight-loss environment. With half of my co-workers involved, we are sure to keep health and fitness in the forefront of our minds, which I greatly need!

This contest came at a perfect time to motivate me to get the rest of my weight off. I am more driven than I ever have been to exercise. I am even more motivated than when I first started losing weight or was deep into my weight loss. Now at 95 pounds lost, I am finally getting interested in wanting to exercise regularly and feel the burn. I don't know what "sparked" it (I couldn't help myself), but I am glad that it happened. Now, I just have to keep it going!

Happy active weekend to all!

Weight Loss Challenge (At Work)

Thursday, January 05, 2012

A group at work have decided to do a weight loss challenge to be the first person to lose 20 pounds and maintain it for four weeks! I know that I don't have as great of a chance of winning, since that is about what I need to lose to get to goal, but I do love a good challenge. The cost of entry is $10, winner take all, so I am entering in hopes that it serves as a motivational tool to keep me going! Maybe I will even win and pick up a few bucks!

Wish me luck, as it would be awesome to win, and even more awesome to lose 20 pounds and reach my goal!

Exercise and I are Working on Our Friendship

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

I am happy to say that I had a great workout this morning, and am back to doing my Insanity program. They are extremely intense and can feel overwhelming at first. I powered through it this morning, and was able to complete day 1. Afterward, I felt AMAZING! I was wide awake, felt like my muscles were loosened up, breathing deeper, just an all around great feeling. I really feel like I can become addicted to that feeling and continue to follow through with my program.

I know that exercise is the key to maintaining weight loss. I have to learn to make it part of my every day life, and treat it as I would eating, as something that I need to live! I would say that exercise and I are a little more than acquaintances after today, and will hopefully be best friends very soon!

I started to get into tennis and running. I am trying to find more ways to work that into my hectic schedule, given the current weather, I find it harder to get outside, especially with a young child. I also really like interval exercises. I feel like I am working really hard, but get to change up the exercises so that I don't get bored. That is one reason I got back into the Insanity program. It is intense, but it changes so much that I don't get bored and it makes the time fly by super fast!

I love dance, and intend to take a dance class when my son is a little older and we have accomplished a few other family goals (move to a new house closer to work, pay off a few bills, etc.).

What exercise did you fall in love with? emoticon

Also try other workouts that don't leave you feeling burned out. Start out slow and gradually increase your pace. You can do it. I'll make a confession now. I used to HATE exercise so much. I love it now and I look forward to it everyday. That's because I found something I love to do and something totally manageable for me. What's that for you?
