Since I began my weight loss journey, people have constantly said..."Girl, you look good" or "I can see it in your face" or "Ooh, you've lost so much". Well even though my clothes were getting larger and larger, I still was seeing myself everyday and as I slowly transformed, I didn't notice that I was changing. This weekend, I was on Facebook...looking at the pictures I posted right after college, back when Facebook began with the photo albums.....and wow, was I amazed! I have always been big my entire life and I always felt like I was great the way I was....of course, I wanted to lose weight, but I thought I looked ok....big, but cute!!! Well upon, seeing the pictures of myself from 5 years ago and even up until the end of August 2009....I was like, wow! My face has gotten a lot thinner...and my body has definitely gotten a lot smaller. Funny how you don't notice it for yourself until you really take a look back. On my SparkPage, I have a before picture...which was really only about a week and a half before I started SparkPeople, now that I think about it, (the photo in the pink and white) and an after photo from July of this year (in the yellow). Thanks to SparkPeople, I've come a long way...and now I'm better than ever lol...

Today is my 1 year anniversary on SparkPeople. I began my journey on Labor Day, 9/6/2009...one last day of eating and drinking whatever and not feeling too bad about it!!! I remember it like it was yesterday...I ate spaghetti for dinner that day!!! I used the nutrition tracker to put in my calories and I don't remember how much it was, but I do remember that it was more than enough. The very next day, I began my attempt on a raw foods diet. I lasted on that for about 3 weeks, but it did jump start my metabolism and I felt so much better. I slowly added back in cooked foods, with the exception of red meat. From September until December, I did great on SparkPeople.
Then, my dad got sick. He had a stroke on December 15...and then my grandma got sick...she had one leg amputated in January and the other in July. For about 2 months, during the time, my father was in the hospital and rehab, I did my best to maintain on Spark. The NUTRITION TRACKER IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even on days when I got up to go to work at 7, worked from 8 to 4, drove an hour and a half in rush hour traffic to the hospital/rehab, stayed there from 6 til 8, drove back home, sat down to grade papers/plan lessons, and finally hitting the bed, just to get up and do it all over again, I still tried to find time to track my calories. I may not have had the time or energy to exercise, but I kept up with my calories. I made it to the point where I could guesstimate and estimate how many calories I was consuming, so that I could still stay on track, even when I was away from a computer until I could log it later.
Now, a year later, I'm 51 pounds lighter than I was a my last physical. I'm 2-3 dress sizes smaller, and I'm ready to get on the grind again. I still have about 10 -15 more pounds that I would like to lose to get where I want to be. People keep telling me not to lose anymore, but I know...I'm still about 20 pounds overweight according to my BMI. No more XL/ XXL's for me...I can wear a M/L. A new school year, new goals, ready to SPARK it up some more!!!!

So, I reached my goal!!! Yaaay!!!! However, my scale is wrong...I've said it before, but I've never bought a new one. It's about 12 pounds off. I figured that by weighing myself at a couple of other places and comparing that to what my scale at home said. I still lost the 47 pounds that I aimed to lose (based on my scale), but I'm not at the weight that I wanted to be at. That also means that I was bigger than I thought I was when I started. So I've reset my goals on Spark...and I'm going to try to lose about 20 additional pounds!!!! Wish me luck!

Oftentimes I've gone to the post office, which is downtown and only has parallel parking spaces and been unable to find a spot. In the past, I would drive around and around until one opened up...lol...but I'm proud to say that the past two times that I've gone....I've parked about 2 blocks away and walked!!!! I felt great about it...saving money and getting in exercise!!!
