Too busy...

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

So, I've fallen out of the routine of logging in daily on Sparkpeople. Just too busy. It feels like I have so much on the go, what with my boys going to soccer from Monday thru' Thursday evening. I have karate on Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. Going away for the long weekend, which was an absolute treat. Work, which has meant some 14 to 16 hours days of typing with only a break to grab a sandwich/snack or coffee from the kitchen and then back at it again. Training for the marathon, which hasn't gone very well this past month at all because I've been sick twice in a month and have just started my second round of antibiotics -- all in one month.

What to do, what to do? Time to have a breather. Time to stop and 'smell the flowers' or whatever else one does when you need to slow down.

Hard to believe the MB marathon is less than a month away...scary, considering my training hasn't gone very well this spring...oh well, my goal isn't to break anybody else's record but my own, which is to just finish it. I've never done the full before, so this is a feat in itself that I've even registered for it. I've found out that my bib # is 752. Yay! It's official, I'm going to be running it.

Anyway, time to go and start getting supper ready for the boys because they've got to eat as soon as they get home from school and then it's off to soccer. And then we do it all over again :)

Karate always seems so fun, that's so cool! Good luck with the rest of your training til the marathon, and don't worry too hard; rest is important too, especially with those loooong workdays, yikes! :)

I can remember those days when my kids were young! Well, actually, so was I! LOL! Young, that is! Enjoy them now, empty nest arrives all too soon! But do also take the time for YOU! You are important, and if YOU are not well and replenished physically, emotionally and spiritually, you will not be the best Mom you can be!

Sorry everyone, for disappearing into la la land! :P I've been so busy I've barely had time to even log in. I've missed so many days with logging in, it's not even funny...

I just remembered at lunch time, that I had my virtual 5 km race this week. So I donned my gear and went and ran it...did it in 25 min's. Not my best time, but considering I've only run outside 4 times, race included, I'm pretty happy with that. GORGEOUS DAY for a run too!

Now, just to get myself into proper training for my marathon and everything will be going smoothly.

How about everyone else? Hope everyone is doing well. Hopefully things will settle down on the home front. I've been driving so much this past week, I don't even remember what day it is. I thought it was Wednesday or Thursday and my husband said, "No, it's only Tuesday." I was so shocked...time for some!

Anyway, hope you're all good. With this beautiful weather, I'm hoping everyone's making it outside for some exercise. Have a good one!!

I have been doing my Aqua fit and noticed I went down one size in my underwear and my pants don't fit so well any more. That is a good feeling. Taking one pair and turning it into rags. lol They don't even fit my waist.

I know what you mean by loosing track of time. I do that often too especially when my kids have something everyday of the week. I kind of loose track of the days. Wonder if it is a Mother thing. :)

Hope all is well and hope to see you sometime soon.

I definitely took advantage of this gorgeous weather. Went out and did a 5k yesterday. I'm not a runner, but mixed in some bursts of jogging. Did the route in 40 mins. That's pretty good I think for me. So hard to believe tmrw is going to be cold again :(

Another run

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

So I was unable to do my run on Sunday...:( Was very sad about that, but I did get in one today! WOOHOO!! Man, did that ever feel good getting onto the track and just running...feeling that stretch in those muscles and getting into that familiar rhythm again.

I wish I'd done a little better on the time, 2 miles in 30 min' should be 3 miles in 30 min's, but I had a freakin' asthma attack out on the track. This has been happening a little too often for my liking...sounds like a trip to the doc is in order.

One thing I'm worried about is that my doc will say I won't be able to do the marathon...I guess I'll just have to tell her that she's gotta come up with some other treatment 'cos I'm running it anyway...whether she likes it or not...all that training is not going to be flushed down the toilet because of this...noooo wayyyyy. There's my stubborn streak coming out!!

Anyway, fingers crossed everything will be fine and my time will speed up because as it stands, it would take me about 6 1/2 hrs to finish the marathon...yikes!! My time has really gone down. I know I can shave off at least 1 1/2 hrs from that, but I was hoping for 4 hrs or under. Well with the right training, I know I'll be able to say, "I came, I saw, I conquered". lol Wish me luck!! Good luck to all of you training for the marathon!!

So tomorrow is the day I'm going to be going for a decent run...hasn't happened in a while as I've been cross-training on my stationary bike at home, but my father-in-law is going to be taking the boys in the morning. Yay!! So I'm going to hit the community centre that has a track and we'll see how long I can last for. I can bike for a solid hour with the resistance on high, so I'm thinking that I should also be able to get in a good jog. Fingers crossed. Hopefully I'll have a decent number to enter in for my miles/kilometres covered.

Wish me luck!!

March, march, march....

Friday, March 04, 2011

So it's March...sounds like it's time to get in shape just from the name of the month. I can't wait for this snow to melt...I'm sure everybody is feeling the same way. I can't wait to get out there and run my regular route. Nothing feels better than getting out, stretching, starting my run, turning on my ipod and getting into the rhythm of it...just me and the road and my tunes...:)
I've been cross-training most of the winter on my stationary's great, I love my bike. I don't think I'd be able to get through winter without it, to be perfectly honest. But it's time for a change. I guess I've got the ol' proverbial 'cabin fever'.
As well, the MB Marathon is only 106 days away...AAUUGGHH!! I need nicer weather so I can get outside and get in my training. I didn't want to have to start running at a track, but I think I'm going to have too...I desperately need to get in my training...I'm starting to get nervous that I'm not going to be able to run the whole thing. I find I'm very hard on myself and have extremely high expectations of myself. I know that's not good and that' s something that I'm really working hard on changing. I should be happy with where I'm at, but yet, I'm always pushing myself to go farther and harder...something to work on. I guess there's always room for growth.
I have to say that I'm helped immensely from all the blogs that are put up by other Sparklers. To see other people working through their challenges is a great inspiration to me. Thank you to all of you out there for putting yourself out there. You help so many and more than you know.
Have a happy March everyone! This is going to be an awesome month, so time to get marching for March! :)

wow.. hard to believe the MB marathon isn't that far away...
I went out for a run on Sunday.. chilly but I'm glad I made it out..
may need to do some runs indoors on a treadmill but i'm definitely not a treadmill runner..

what area of the city are you in?
i'm north west, wondering if there are any other runners out this way training for MB marathon..

106... wait, 105 days till the marathon! I'm also stressing about this. My longest run so far has been 8 miles. I think you can do it though, and I think running on an indoor track is an excellent idea. The Y downtown is pretty good and I'm usually there on Sunday mornings, so you'll see a friendly face training my feet off if you decide to stop by:-)

I hear ya! I am doing the Commit to Get Fit 5k in May. I downloaded the 8 weeks to 5k program info, but I can't start it until the snow melts. I don't have a treadmill, don't have a track nearby or gym membership. So...if I walk part of it and jog for a few minutes here and there, that'll be ok I guess. As long as I beat last year's time.
