What on earth is wrong with me? :)

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

Okay, that sounds bad as a title but don't worry. In the past 6 months I've suddenly had a change in tastes that has shocked me. I LOVE spicy foods! I have never liked a lot of spice but have found myself craving everything spicy. I even bought some chipotle hot sauce and put it on my dinner tonight. WHAT?????

I have been on a diet before, I have even changed my lifestyle and lost weight until I became pregnant with my third child and suddenly didn't have the energy or time to take care of myself. But I've NEVER liked spicy foods before. It's so weird!

I guess it really does go to show that your palate can change and you can start to like healthy foods. I never truly believed it before but I sure do now! Does anyone else have changing tastes?

Too funny! I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm the LAST person anyone ever thought would like spicy foods!

Okay, so I'm totally glad to hear I'm not the only one. I don't know if it happened when I was pregnant or what, but I crave spicy things too! Way more before... I just don't "handle" them well!!! Hehe... darn...

I am actually craving veggies like they are going out of style though I have always loved them I never thought I could crave only eating them and them alone. Also I have been craving vinegary tasting things though have not given in to eating much with vinegar on it.

I've done the same thing over the last few months. I have always liked a lot of flavor: onions, garlic, herbs, etc., but recently I have gotten on a kick of wanting things to be HOT. Don't know why, but it is an interesting change, isn't it?

ONE MORE WEEK!

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Today was my rest day of week 12 of P90X. Seven more days and I can take my after pictures. I haven't posted my before pictures yet because I'm too scared. :)

Something cool happened today. My mom has MS and is in a motorized wheelchair. Today we had a bridal shower for my cousin's daughter and we had rented a wheelchair van to go there. She needs a ramp to get into my aunt's house and the one she has is HUGE. And HEAVY. It probably weighs a good 50-75 pounds. And I CARRIED it from the van to my aunt's car when before I couldn't even lift it. Even in June I couldn't lift it and today I did it without a problem. WOO HOO!

Wow -- only one more week and you're a P90X grad! I can't wait to see your pics and also hear about your other milestones (like lifting that ramp!)

Happiness is:

Looking in the mirror and seeing collarbones.

Having to hike up my size 12 jeans and work pants. I have to get some 10's. :)

Being able to trek down two flights of stairs carrying a hamper full of clothes - twice. And sort them by bending over and not getting winded or having your muscles hurt.

Being able to do a hard cardio workout without taking a break (We don't need no stinking break! - Tony Horton)

Having everyone tell you you're shrinking even though you don't feel like it since you're stuck on a horrendous plateau. (But NOT gaining!)

Being able to get into a size Small sweater (it's from Fashion Bug and their sizes run bigger but who cares! It's a small!)

Being able to carry a bushel of apples without any problem.

Seriously thinking about having your sister coach you on starting to run when she starts her new job with the same hours as you so you can go to the gym together all the time. Yes Laurie, that's you. Didn't see that coming did you?

Having to push the car seat forward because your butt isn't as big and doesn't push you away from the seat as much.

Feeling strong just doing normal daily activities like getting up off the floor or out of a chair.

Being able to actually wear a Halloween costume and have it fit and look good.

I know there's more but I needed to remind myself that I've come a long way and if my body decides to stay here for a while - so be it. I have two weeks left of P90X and then I can and will switch it up a bit. Go to tae kwon do more to get ready to test for my next level of black belt in December and start doing some different things. I love the P90X workouts and will definitely incorporate those into my workouts. Celebrate everything you have done so far and keep on going even though you may want to quit or may have a bad day. :)

Thanks everyone! Carla - don't worry about the chin ups. Even though I'm almost done I don't think I could do one either. I use the bands. :)

Yes, celebrate! Look at the amazing things your body can do today that were impossible a year ago! And don't sweat the plateau; a time will come when your body will once again shift. And you'll be ready for it!

Lovely blog! I noticed my collarbones yesterday and thought exactly the same thing - well I first thought, 'I'd forgotten about those....' and then felt so happy to see them again. Realized that I must be losing weight!

P90X! Good for you! I tried it but I am 52 and had been sedentary for some time; too intense for me at this time so I gave it to my son-in-law. Keep up the good work! emoticon

I'm going on a DATE!~ With my husband! Woo hoo!

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Today, we're getting ready to go to The Fireside, which is a dinner theater for those of you who don't live in Southeastern Wisconsin. It's my husband's favorite musical-Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and it's just the two of us. We get to have a nice dinner and see a play with no kids and nobody else to distract us. I can't wait! We never get to do things like this so I'm looking forward to it.

The only bad thing is that I most likely won't be able to track any of my dinner there. So my plan is to eat SLOWLY and enjoy my food and stop eating when I'm full. The rest of the day I'm eating light so I should be able to stay on track.

Have a great day everyone!

AWESOME news!

Sunday, October 02, 2011

My friend has this body scanner that measures how much body fat you have in comparison to everything else. The last time she scanned me I had about 50 pounds of body fat and I think that was about 28%. The range trainers like to see is 21-25%. It said I had 10 pounds of excess body fat. Well TODAY, she scanned me again. I haven't lost more than a pound since starting P90X but have lost an inch on my hips and thighs and feel stronger so I knew I built more muscle. Today's scan said I'm at 25.6% body fat and only a little under 5 pounds of excess body fat! Whoa! What a difference! The first time she scanned me I had about 11 pounds of excess body fat and 50 pounds total so the difference between this time and the last time is a huge accomplishment than the first and second time. I'm so excited! I guess I'm doing something right so I'm just going to keep going and see what phase 3 brings. Bring it on!

Oh! And I forgot to mention that I'm IN THE WEIGHT RANGE the scanner suggests I should be in! I'm still shooting for getting down to 145 but I'm fine with where I am right now. :)
