Got to sleep in yesterday and logged my 3 pounds weight gain in without really sweating it. I wasn't happy, but really took it in stride better than I would have even a couple of months ago since I still got two dresses - both in size 8 - shopping on Saturday so I didn't even care as much.
Got my presents - a pull up bar (with no real good place to put it but we're working on that), a 15 pound kettlebell and a new fitness mat that is really cushy and feels awesome! I also got the new Carrie Underwood CD so I think I made out pretty well! It's nice that my family has embraced my new lifestyle and accepts it now as normal - especially my workouts.
Got ready for the day and started laundry. Puttered around a bit and then DH, Son #2 and I went for a LONG walk. Went to visit my mom and gave her her gifts. Then onto DH's brother's house for dinner with the in-laws. We were asked to bring fruit, which I LOVE! So we got a couple of yellow mangos, a pineapple, some strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, grapes and kiwis. DH cut that all up and we were all set including a chocolate fruit dip, which was AWESOME! :) (Had a little). I took along two turkey burgers and my own buns because I knew they would probably not have whole grain or low fat stuff there.
SURPRISE! My brother-in-law got a thick cajun turkey breast slice for me for dinner! WOO HOO! I still used my buns (only ate 1) but loved the turkey. I was pleasantly surprised! Had cheesy potatoes with it but the turkey, whole grain roll and fruit were really healthy. Dessert was Angel Food cake (bonus!) with strawberries and cool whip but I just had the cake. Did REALLY well with food except for going to get a second helping of fruit and potatoes so I could have done better but as a whole, did great. I had an Herbalife smoothie for lunch before we went and there were no snacks so i was just fine, thank you.
I'm really pleased that the people around are being so considerate with my lifestyle change. It's AWESOME to have such a great support system! :) Really great day. Hope everyone else had a great day too!
Today I have off, so I dropped the kids off at school, went to Wal-Mart for a few things and then came home and did my Insanity Cardio Power Resistance workout. Went to lunch at Son #2's elementary school with him and have been doing laundry today. I'm going to walk to the middle school to get the older two, then walk to the elementary school for the third one and then we're all walking home so I'll get in a good 3+ mile walk today.

First, I'll start with what did NOT make me happy today and end with the positive stuff. That way I can vent the stuff that's annoying and end up happier.
I gained 3 pounds this week. Started Insanity on Monday and have had some muscle soreness - especially in my calves from all the lower body work and jumping - but nothing that bad. Some might be water from the DOMS.
To be truthful, I had a little extra to eat at work because we celebrated a coworker's birthday but instead of having tacos I just added taco meat to my salad. My downfall was the tortilla chips. I did have SOME, but not as many as I normally would. But every little bit added up. Then we had Taco Bell the other night and instead of having just ONE taco, I had two plus a quesadilla and cinnamon twists. Ruined it that day. And Thursday we had a rep lunch. I have learned that I really need to NOT eat what the reps bring, since it's usually something I can't really track and have to guess at.
I have only eaten ABOVE my calorie burn one day so really, that much weight should not be fat but I'm not so sure.
I did my measurements today and have gained a 1/2 inch in my waist, hips and thigh. NOT good. That makes me think I'm gaining fat and not muscle or water. I really need to focus on only eating when I'm hungry and NEED to eat. Live and learn I guess. You'd think after doing this for so long I'd know this already but I guess I will always need reminders.
The good news - I got some ROCKIN' gift for Mother's Day!

So my focus for this week is to continue my workouts and REALLY watch the calories. See what happens.

This morning started off normally. Take the kids to school, go to my sister's house to spend time with her before she went to work, go to the gym for my strength training session with my trainer. I hopped on the elliptical to do my 5 minute warm up and he was there right away so we talked while I was warming up and I asked him what we were going to do. He went over the list and started saying, "run a half mile on the treadmill...." And I just looked at him and said, "Okayyyy....." I have always been afraid to start running for two reasons.
1. My knee is bad and even though it's been a lot better lately, when I least expect it, it starts to hurt sometimes.
2. I just can't get the breathing down. Or I haven't been able to.
So I decided I would just try it and see what happened. He got me on the treadmill and set it at 5.0 MPH and started it. So I started jogging.....and it was okay! I did the half mile in the 3 minutes and then he stopped me. And I didn't DIE! WOO HOO! It gave me much more confidence to maybe start a couch to 5K program and see if I could at least start jogging. I won't ever try to go very fast but I will most likely try it again soon.
Although, my friend from tae kwon do has some Insanity discs he is letting me borrow and even printed out the calendar for me so that's my next plan. Insanity! Again, a little scared, but nobody ever went anywhere without getting out of their comfort zone so let's go! I'm excited!
