Random stuff

Friday, February 10, 2012

I had the day off today, which was nice because usually I would have worked. This morning I dropped the kiddos off at their respective schools and came home to do my Legs and Back workout. Did Bob Harper 15 minute Yoga Abs instead of Ab Ripper X to get some variety because I get sick of Ab Ripper X sometimes.

Then I went on a random errand and had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings with my mom. It was nice but it was snowing pretty hard so it was a little slower getting there but it was fun anyway. I don't often get to have lunch with just my mom.

I had to go to a meeting for work for a while and then came home and made Quinoa Pilaf for dinner. I added some extra veggies and ground turkey to make it a meal and it was delicious!

Then Ken and I went to the gym and I walked a 5K on the treadmill. My trainer said when I do cardio I shouldn't get my heart rate over 125 because I'm trying to build muscle but that's hard! Especially when a good 80's rock song comes on my new ipod! :) Hee hee! (Singing "Runaway" by Bon Jovi in my head). Yes, I just dated myself.

Now chilling at home and getting ready for bed soon! I'm tired and it's only 8:45! Sad. But true and it was a great day.

Bon Jovi ROCKS and I too would fail at the heart rate thing.

I'm glad that you were able to have lunch with your mom! Sounds like a good day!

Wow... not getting your heart rate over 125 for cardio. I would fail miserably at that!

OUT of the 160's!

Saturday, February 04, 2012

I have been under 160 pounds FINALLY for the past 4 days so I think (HOPE!) I won't see that number again any time soon, if ever. My goal is 145 so I'm not too far away but my Bodybugg has REALLY helped me take all of the guesswork out of how many calories I burn during the day. It measures my calorie burn 24 HOURS a day (as long as I'm wearing it). I sometimes don't wear it at night but it's still VERY accurate. I LOVE IT! :)

Spark On Friends!

So fantastic. You make me motivated to get there. My Exerspy does the same thing for calories, and I just love it. I think it might really help me maintain when I get that far. I just broke into the 180s -- 189.0 and 189.4 for the past two days, so I hope, too, it doesn't bounce back into the 190s for a few days. It never stays up, but those mornings are always a little bit of a disappointment. Can't wait to catch up with you! Thanks for posting your progress!

Woohooo!!! That is awesome!! Way to go. I'm so glad you're loving your new gadget. Sounds like a valuable tool for you. I've only had my Fitbit for 3 days but I love it so far. Is says I'm burning more than I am taking in, yet the scale was up 2 lbs today. Gotta keep tweaking.

Who Knew?????

Monday, January 23, 2012

That's what I said to my trainer today. I was talking to him about how I want to build more muscle and not just focus on weight loss so we did a workout with heavy weight and low reps. Whew! He made me do lat pull downs with 70 pounds, rows with 60 pounds, bicep curls with a 30 pound dumbbell, tricep extensions with 20 pounds, chest presses with 25 pounds, chest flys with 20 pounds, squats with 12.5 pound dumbbells on each shoulder, etc. HOLY COW! I never knew I could do that much. He encouraged me to do more than I thought I could and I DID! It was awesome! I feel strong and fierce. :) Hee hee!

Then I walked a 5K on the treadmill for cardio and I'm now tired and already sore so I'm glad it's my recovery week. I'm also looking forward to Core Synergistics tomorrow since that is one of my favorites. Oh - I forgot to mention the three ab exercises he had me do also. OH - and the scale was down a little more this morning so I'm excited about that too.

The ONE thing that irritated me is that my ipod died and doesn't even turn on. It worked fine the other day and then I went to charge it and it's dead and won't do anything. I don't even have the library saved and have to do it over since the laptop I had it on died and needed a new hard drive. Good thing I didn't fix it yet. I did look on Game Stop online and they have refurbished ones and take old ones in trade so I think that's what I'm going to do since I like the larger Nano instead of the new tiny one.

Anyway, have a great week everyone! :)

Isn't lifting heavy (or heavier) SO much fun & SO empowering? I love it! Especially I love learning that just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I have to stick w/ 2.5lb weights for the rest of my life! I'd imagine you were sore, but that totally is never as bad as after the first serious weight workout! I wish you best of luck in your pursuit of more strength!

Keep it up Chris! I'm contemplating some light weight training. I have been really focused on cardio to drop the weight but know that strength training is just as important and will help with the fat burn. I'm just not consistent enough and it takes so much time to get both in. Pondering... emoticon

That sucks about your iPod! I would be lost without mine... my workouts are much better when I am listening to music. I love my little Nano because I can clip it right to my shirt or whatever... no need for an arm band... but it is really tiny! Good luck getting a replacement!

WOW - that Training sounds intense. I have purchased 4 training sessions at the gym but have not scheduled it yet. It sounds pretty exciting. The strength I've been doing has been very mild. I'm crazy with cardio but not so much with strength. So this gives me something to look forward to. Thanks - have fun - congratulations!!1

Almost 3 more sticks of butter gone!

Sunday, January 22, 2012

I love thinking about pounds in sticks of butter. A little gross, but it's a good visual and I'll take it. 0.7 more lb down this week and feeling good. I've been adding cardio on my strength days for P90X so I think this time it's working more. I'm sore today but still going and feeling energized! Today I was able to lift and carry two full hampers of clothes down the stairs much better than I had in the past and yesterday when I was shoveling I had NO problem lifting and pushing the snow. I feel stronger and back on track. I'm just 2 pounds above what I was at Thanksgiving and ready to be rid of those and start losing more. Woo hoo!

I'm supposed to do yoga tomorrow to start my first recovery week but I have a gym appointment with my trainer and then plan on doing cardio afterward so I guess I'm swapping that for the Yoga.

Have a great week!

My cousin gave me a 1lb fat display and it looks like a big chard of butter. Butter is a nice way to see you melting off the lbs! I know you will melt off these last two lbs very soon.

We don't have sticks of butter - we buy them in 250g (half pound) blocks.
I am imagining my bike race I am doing next month.
Last year I did the same race 11 kgs lighter - would I like to do the race this year with 44 blocks of butter in my backpack? No thanks!

Lost a pound! :) Enjoy the little things

Sunday, January 15, 2012

I LOVE my new Bodybugg. It's been very accurate and as long as I eat less during the day than it says I burn, I've been doing very well. Some days it's more than others but I have eaten under every day and have lost one pound this week.

I start the Gold's Gym Challenge tomorrow at 6 p.m. so I'm a little bummed I lost a pound already since that won't count for the challenge but who cares. I still lost a pound! Awesome! :)

Have a great week everyone! :)

Way to go!! I'm so glad you're enjoying your new fitness gadget! Sounds awesome! I just came across the Fitbit on here, and I want one BAD! (I wonder if they are similar gadgets?) I am holding off until after my cardiologist appt on Tuesday in case I hear the dreaded "your running days are over". If I get cleared, the Fitbit is MINE!
Have a great week and good luck with the Gold's Gym Challenge!
