Challenge decision

My husband asked me the other day if I was going to do the Gold's Gym Challenge and I said yes. He actually said, "I was thinking of joining you. Maybe that will get my butt to the gym." I about fell off my chair! But he DID say he wanted to join the gym so he could work out more but he never goes and we pay for the family plan for ME to go once in a while since when I'm doing P90X I don't need to go as often. So we'll see how far he actually takes this. Although tomorrow I'll go to the gym to do some cardio and do my P90X workout later. I've decided to add cardio this time more than I did last time.

So I will sign up most likely tomorrow to start next Monday. Wish me luck! My sister and I were talking about it and I had mentioned that I'm worried about the weight loss part since I have been on this plateau for so long. She said I should maybe try to focus on the changing my body part so with doing P90X again, I decided that's what I'm going to do. Focus NOT on the scale - but on making my body look good.

So FORGET the sale (for the most part!) and I'm going for gaining muscle and losing fat - not necessarily WEIGHT. Spark on people!

    That is great!! I love working out with my hubby... even though when we get to the gym... he does his thing and I do mine... and it is not always together... it is just the idea of the two of us being there at the same time and taking care of ourselves! :0) Have fun!!

    I agree with Julia, and I know you do this already Chris. It helps to record your measurements to see your change. Gold's pictures will also help. Good luck on your challenge! Let's hope you and DH take advantage of the family plan. Not tomorrow, but hopefully soon. Keep us posted... you will rock this!!

    Can't hurt to take "before" measurements of body parts, so you can be encouraged as those inches shrink down into beautifully toned arms & legs & washboard abs (no 6-packs of fattening pop or beer hanging off your soon to be slim belly!!)!

You go, girl!! Just rock on, regardless of whether your hubby actually joins the gym or not!

Random thoughts for today

Today I went back to work after a 10 day vacation and it was WONDERFUL. No doctors in clinic - only a handful of patients for breathing tests and barely any phone calls. I got A LOT done! It was a nice return day from a nice vacation break. I did GREAT with tracking and eating today. I'm a little hungry right now but should really go to bed soon so maybe I'll have some fruit and call it a night.

I started round 2 of P90X tonight and it felt good. I'm doing the Classic program this time to build more muscle and instead of standing around between exercises and rounds and listening to Tony babble, I ran in place until it was time to start the next exercise. It definitely made a difference. I MAY do doubles next phase but it depends on how much time I have. I didn't feel the program offered enough cardio when I did the Lean program and the Classic program has even less.

Anyway, back on track for the new year and happy. Have a great week!

    What a great way to return back to work-- no stress. Isn't Beachbody amazing? A friend borrowed my program so I can't start another round and reading about your progress makes me regret giving away month 2. Will ask for them later. You are doing GREAT this year!     So glad you had a vacation and an easy return day to work! Let me know how your 2nd round of P90X goes! I got a heart rate monitor for Christmas and I am going to see what it tells me while doing P90X. Curious to see stats for Yoga as I always get a good workout from it. I think KenpoX is more of a tail kicker than CardioX. I did CardioX yesterday and it said I was only in my zone for 23 minutes. Huh?
It's going to take some time to figure this little gadget out but I hope it helps me in the long run.
Good idea running in place while waiting for the next exercise. I LOVE Tony but he can be a yapper! lol
I am on week 11 of alternating running and P90X. I think it shows more on the scale than when I did P90X everyday in the first round. My muscles aren't as defined yet though. I guess it's a give/take situation.

    What a great way to start off the new year. I have never done P90X but I heard it is HARD so kudos to you ladybug. I also think it is kinda expensive isn't it? You know me. I'm the girl who doesn't like change who just keeps walking to her $9 Leslie Sansone 5 mile fat burning DVD. I have been walking to that thing for a year and a half now. Who knew I would get so much out of something that cost $5? :P

    I agree - the Yoga really isn't cardio but the Bob Harper Yoga video is close. I'm thinking about finding a 30 minute cardio video to supplement but not sure what I'm going to do yet.

  Good luck with Round 2 of P90X. I feel the same way you do about the Cardio - there is not that much in this program. I think he counts the Yoga as cardio, which it really isn't.

Gold's Gym Challenge - to do or not to do?

My personal trainer wants me to do the Gold's Gym Challenge. It starts soon (this weekend is the first wave) and it's $30 to join. It's 12 weeks and based on weight loss, change in body composition and something else - I forget. My sister did this last year and she lost 30 pounds and placed 3rd.

The challenge i have is that I only have about 15 pounds I want to lose and am not sure about being able to lose it since I've been on a plateau since July. And of course my husband is all about money and thinks it will lead to spending more for trainer sessions, etc.

I do get an extra session with my trainer but don't need one to do the competition. I can do my round of P90X and still do it. Maybe this time I can do the P90X without having to eat more - we'll see. I have a few days to decide and my next session with Bryan (my PT) is Friday.

By the way - I had another PT session yesterday and I'm still sore! We did the same workout as Friday and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish it since I was sore from the last one but I did it. WOO HOO! :)

  I think if you are on the fence with the challenge, then maybe you should give it a try. $30 is not that expensive to join the challenge and it is a bonus to get a free session with your personal trainer. You also know other people doing the challenge which will add extra motivation.

Go for it! emoticon You can bust through that plateau!

    I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I want to do the challenge since my sister and another friend at the gym are doing it and it just may be the thing that busts my plateau. I know I could go lower on my calories and lose more - I've just gotten comfortable where I am so far. I would consider a Spark Challenge but haven't found one that interests me yet. I have a couple of days to decide yet. I'll make my decision by Friday when I meet with Bryan again. Thanks for the suggestions!

    I feel your hesitation especially with you saying that you have been on a plateu since July (mine is 6 years). My whole thought on competitions like that is I don't need a contest to get me motivated, I am more motivated then most. I would do it if I had this whole weight lose figured out and I was already losing, then it would just be a bonus. It might be fun though and you might be surprised.

    The price includes an extra session with my trainer, which in itself is still cheaper than a regular session. Also there are discounted trainer sessions and I'm not sure what else, if anything. I would have to ask...

    I'm thinking I would push myself more. $30 isn't a lot for me and we've been done with Christmas for a while so it's not a big deal for us. We have a Christmas Club we save for each year and that pays for Christmas so it's not extra expenses. I'm still thinking about it but thanks for the support! :)

    That's a tough one. When I'm in a challenge, I tend to push myself more, but $30 is a bit much, especially coming off of Christmas. Sorry I'm no help = )

What a Great Day!

Of course, today started off EARLY since the kids were so excited they were in bed at 9:00 last night so Santa would come! At about 3:50 a.m. my middle child (older son) woke up to use the bathroom and then I heard the stair creak like he was going downstairs. The puppy started barking and busted him so he ran back to his room and hid under the blankets. Hee hee!

Fast forward to 5:30 a.m. when my alarm went off and I decided I was still too sore from Friday's workout to do Yoga so I turned it off. Then my youngest (son) came into our room asking to sleep on the floor (we don't let them in the bed anymore) and my husband said yes. Of course then he couldn't stop talking! Then the cat started walking across my chest so I would feed her and I heard my son asking my husband when we could get up. Ken said, "when Mom gets up," and then I had to pee so I said we should get up anyway since I was then awake.

We opened presents and I got a Bodybugg! So excited to start using it! It's charging next to me right now as I'm trying to keep my eyes open while I wait for it to be charged so I can use it. Got a pair of sweats, pair of pajama pants and a CD from the kids. Then went to the in-laws for brunch and more presents. I had a smoothie before we went so i wouldn't be starving and ate some but not a whole ton. Of course went over my calories for the day but that's okay. It actually wasn't that bad since we didn't eat lunch and ate dinner at 6:00 p.m. with very minimal snacking in between.

My husband's sister-in-law (his brother's 2nd wife) was actually NICE to me. We had a nice conversation and she wasn't stuck up or anything like she usually is. She actually COMPLIMENTED me on my weight loss and told me I look great. She asked how much I had lost and when I told her 40 pounds, she said, "only 40?" She thought it had been more! WOO HOO! It felt AWESOME! I was surprised and happy we could be civil and actually very nice to each other today. It made the day so much more bearable.

After presents, Ken and I went to go get my Mom. In case you don't know, she has MS and is in a wheelchair so it's hard to get her places since we don't own a lift van. We were able to rent one for the weekend, however, so it was nice to go get her and have her spend the afternoon and evening with us since she's usually by herself on Christmas and we celebrate with her on a different day.

The kids went to bed without argument tonight and now we're watching the Packer game (late) and I'm going to bed soon. Tomorrow I have another appointment with my trainer so we'll see what I can do since I'm STILL sore from Friday's workout. My ABS are killing me! It feels good though.

    What a fantastic day! I am sooooooo jealous that you got a Bodybugg. I want one so bad but those are WAYYYYY out of my price range so I will have to live vicariously through you. Let me know how it works. That's is great that the sister in law was nice to you and noticed your weight loss. You have worked hear for it and deserve the recognition.

I didn't get to work out Wednesday or Thursday so yesterday I was ready to bring it on. I had a gym appointment with my trainer, Bryan. My sister gave me 3 sessions with him for Christmas but I had to use them in 30 days so they needed to be done early.

So we talked a bit first since it had been since summer since we met. I have lost 5 pounds and gained .5 pound of muscle since I last saw him so I thought that was a success. Then he had me warm up on the elliptical while he wrote the workout. I did 12 minutes and then we were ready.

Man did he work me hard! We did a BUNCH of strength exercises, which I liked and worked out for a little over an hour. Then I got the bright idea to walk a 5K loop on the treadmill to get some cardio in.

I did it in 48 minutes WALKING. I was up to 4 mph and it was great! Then I stretched and went home to shower, etc.

Fast forward to today and I feel EVERY muscle in my body! Whew! It's a good soreness but now i think I need to take it easier today. I'll still work out but maybe not so hard.

I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. But it feels GREAT! Have a VERY Merry Christmas everyone and here's to not overeating too much tomorrow. :)
