Why can't I upload pictures?????

Friday, December 16, 2011

Ugh! When I try to upload pictures to Facebook from my phone it tells me "We are unable to upload photos right now. Please try again later." And then when I tried to upload photos from this wedding this weekend to Spark People "Safari can't find the server." I'm Mad! GRR....

Maybe I'll have to do some Bob Harper Yoga.....

I had trouble uploading pictures to my Spark pages until I realized I had to shrink the file size. I'm not familiar with Safari, I usually use Picasa but I have to get into Microsoft photo options in order to shrink a picture file. Hope this hint helps!

Experiment for a week

Thursday, December 08, 2011

Okay, I decided after black belt testing that I was going to rest and take a little break from my diet for a week. I've tracked everything I've eaten except for a bit last night and am finding that even though I've relaxed on my self imposed limits and not worked out for three days that I'm actually MISSING my healthy foods and exercise. This is a GREAT realization! It shows that I'm committed to making this a healthy life change.

I'm trying to shake my body up a bit to see if I can blast through this plateau. If I go back to my healthy habits and I still don't lose anything as far as weight goes, then I figure I'm at a weight my body likes and will be happy here for a while.

I'm actually not eating as much as I thought I would be. I have only been eating when I'm hungry. I've let myself have a slice of cheesecake, a couple of pieces of pizza, some teriyaki wings, etc. but have not really gone overboard much.

I think I may end the rest days early since I'm itching to do a workout tomorrow and have the day off so I'll be getting that in after my yearly physical. I'm excited to talk to the nurse practitioner (my doctor left and my new doctor is on maternity leave) about my weight loss and see what she says.

Anyway, tomorrow I will be back on track for a day, then a family wedding and then Sunday starts a new week. :)

I so enjoy your blogs...thanks for sharing. I'm the one who is either losing or gaining weight so following your story really "sparks" me and guides my thoughts about maintaining. I either get too comfortable with the new me and plunge backwards or get really worried about gaining so I over exercise and cut back too much sending myself forward too quickly. Right now I weigh 195 at 5'7" I wear a loose size 14 and everyone's noticing the body change while I'm hanging on for dear life not to go forward or backwards...It encourages me that you are "mastering the art" of healthy living.

This week has given me a realization that I NEVER want to go back to where I was and I want to keep up this active lifestyle. It's awesome! :)

It's fantastic that the healthier habits have become organic and natural. Plateaus are annoying, but as long as you are trying your best, as you rightly asserted, all one can do is be content with the results.

Testing Day 1 down - Day 2 Today

Saturday, December 03, 2011

Last night's testing was the least physically demanding one I've had so far - probably because this is the lowest weight I've been since I started doing tae kwon do. The only thing I'm struggling with is that I'm EXHAUSTED today. And I still have one more day to go.

This afternoon is the second part of the test, which is mainly the graduation ceremony where we do our highest forms and our board breaking. I'm ready but I'm still tired. We leave shortly (in about a half hour) so I'm just relaxing right now and taking time to destress before we go. Wish me luck - AGAIN! :) I'll be VERY glad when it's over. Have a great day!

Black Belt Testing-Permanent First Degree-1st Tick

Thursday, December 01, 2011

Tomorrow is my third Black Belt test. You would think I would be a little comfortable with the process by now but I'm still nervous and fidgety (is that a real word?). I have trained as much as I can for this test and am in so much BETTER shape than even my last test in March. Back in February was when I decided that I was going to start working out every day and REALLY making the effort to lose the weight. I am about 25-30 pounds smaller NOW that I was then and in much better physical shape. I'm excited to see what I can do tomorrow.

The last time I tested I had a REALLY hard time with the run. I'm not a runner and have not trained for the run so I'm nervous about that part. I was the LAST person running. Then we have five rounds of sparring for 5 minutes each. We get a break for a bit in between but not much. Thankfully, the running and sparring are done FIRST so my least favorite two parts we get over with right away. Then I can concentrate on what I know best - forms and kicking along with the other curriculum.

Tomorrow's test is 4 hours. And we're moving the ENTIRE time. We do get a bit of a break occasionally but for the most part we're doing something. Then Saturday there's another 3 hours of testing but that part is not as much activity. We do our highest forms and board breaking (my FAVORITE part! Where else do you get to break things on PURPOSE?).

Anyway, I have my bag packed with my uniform, belt, liquid energy snacks from Herbalife and my sparring gear. I work tomorrow until noon and then will make sure I have a good meal around mid afternoon and I'm on my way. Wish me luck! And minimal soreness on Sunday! Hee hee!

I always wondered what the process was like for belt testing. Sounds SUPER rigorous. I guess that's why they call it a black belt with so much authority and fear! Go get 'em CHRISKENANDKIDS emoticon

Today was Black Belt prep class from 10-12:30. Normally its about 70 minutes of actual working out and then the rest is doing the self defense techniques and that isn't as intense.

Today was INTENSE! It was just like testing and we were at it for 1.5 hours STRAIGHT. Whew! It was hard but awesome. The SP fitness calculator says 120 minutes of TKD burns bout 1400 calories so WOW! We had to do sparring for 18 minutes (3-five minute rounds and one 3 minute round) and I got kicked in the thumb so that hurts a bit tonight.

Anyway, then I came home and went shopping with my mom and sister the rest of the day. Of course, my mom wanted to go to Red Lobster for dinner so I had chicken and shrimp with broccoli and rice and a side salad with raspberry vinagrette dressing. That alone was enough but then I stupidly decided on dessert. The dessert was 770 CALORIES! That's more than my DINNER! ACK! Good thing I burned so many calories today!

Although I'm not sure what the scale will say tomorrow - it is what it is. And now we'll see since tomorrow is my weigh in day. Pray for good numbers!

I love Red Lobster's cheddar biscuits. To me it's a sign of great strength when one avoids them. 120 of Tae Kwon Do? That's a laudable show of strength and endurance. You are really strong.

You are more than that number on the scale. Besides that, are you going to go without ever eating dessert again?

So you went over a bit, you also worked out quite a bit....1400 calories is a lot of working out.... so ...... good for you.

I feel your pain!! I can look at a dessert and think - 320 calories max - and then go home and be completely surprised by it. How is it possible that a dessert can have so many calories in it!!
Glad you did all that exercise though, that should balance it out.
