GREAT Thanksgiving Choices today!

Thursday, November 24, 2011

I am SO proud of myself! I went into the day planning on exercising and not eating a ton of junk. I brought raw veggies, light veggie dip, multigrain chips and salsa to my brother-in-law's house for snacks so we'd have something healthy. So we had that for snacks for everyone instead of the cheese and crackers he had planned. I even had two glasses of wine and a sliver of two different desserts and still came in just over 2000 calories. WOO HOO! And I got in an hour workout today too! Here's the breakdown

Breakfast-Herbalife Formula 1 smoothie with protein, powdered peanut butter, milk and frozen cherries and peaches blended together. Cream and sugar in 1 cup of coffee.

1 hour workout: Bob Harper's Inside Out Method Pure Burn Super Strength (my legs are SORE today! Whew!)

Showered and made the lightened broccoli casserole and a lettuce salad to bring along for dinner. Went to BIL's house.

Put out snacks. Had a few chips and salsa and veggies with dip for lunch. I get snacky when there's food out with Ken's family so I was happy that the snacks were veggies and I didn't have to be TOO careful about what I ate. I also had one glass of wine but was drinking a ton of water today. I got in more than usual, actually.

Got a little hungry later so I had planned ahead and brought along some Herbalife 24 Formula 1 sport and the protein so I had a shake mixed with water for a snack, which helped me stave off hunger and not be starving by the time dinner got on the table.

Dinner: I planned ahead by making the lettuce salad figuring I would make my own turkey salad for dinner and have a couple of small sides along with it. I filled my plate 3/4 full with the salad, added turkey and a little salad dressing and that was DELICIOUS. I also had a very small serving of broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes with a little gravy and a tiny bit of stuffing. One more glass of wine and a little sliver of apple pie and a torte dessert the kids made rounded out the meal with some decaf coffee and more water. I'm still satisfied and EXTREMELY happy with myself for doing well today.

Whether you did well or not - it's only one day and no matter what happened today, either stay on track or get back on track tomorrow. Hope everyone had a great day!

Way to go. I did OK, but only because of my work schedule.

Great job bringing the healthy snacks. I will have to remember that.

AWESOME! My husband's family didn't even say ANYTHING about how much I ate or anything. They even ate the veggies and dip I brought for snacks instead of the cheese and crackers they planned. WOO HOO! :) And they all said I look great and keep it up.

Warning-Self Indulgent Rant to Follow

Sunday, November 20, 2011

This is what I saw on the scale this morning:

I am MAD. I know all of the reasons why I'm still stuck on this massive, stupid plateau. I have been accepting it and focusing on the non-scale victories for months. Accepting that my body has shed 40 pounds in 6 months and has maintained that weight loss for almost as many more months. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm 5'4" and still 160.8 pounds. I don't need to weigh that much. Unless someone can tell me that it's a healthy weight for someone who is 5'4" and back it up with literature and fact I don't believe it.

I want to get down to 145. If you look at the charts for my height I should weigh between 116-135. I'm not even SHOOTING for that range since I know I have a lot of muscle. All I want to do is lose 15 more pounds. 145 is a healthy BMI. That shouldn't be unrealistic.

I KNOW muscle takes up less space than fat and that I have built a lot of muscle. I KNOW that your body needs to readjust and stay at one weight for a while and that there are still a lot of good things going on there. I was coasting through P90X since I had such a huge problem staying within my calorie range and crashing during workouts.

But I have been done with P90X for two full weeks and have burned TONS of calories and done TONS of cardio along with really being able to go down on my calories this week so I was expecting a lot more progress than a 0.8 pound GAIN. I totally changed it up and am seeing nothing different.

I did 5 hours of Tae Kwon Do (about 2.5 hours of that was actual working out-the rest was memorizing and practicing curriculum) in the past two days and I'm SORE. In a good way but still sore. And then - nothing. Ugh. Grrr...and a bunch of other words that I can't type here.

So I know all of the reasons why I might be here and accept them but sometimes I just get irritated. And discouraged. But I do NOT want to go back to where I was. I don't want to get too complacent here in case I CAN lose more but I don't know what else to do except just hope that things change again someday. Grrr...

Calories in, calories out... I know, I know. What happens when that doesn't work when you want it to.

It's like the saying to err is human, to really foul things up requires a scale that won't move. Or something like that.... LOL.

I am making light of this but I do feel your pain, and hope you'll get over this plateau soon.

Just remember, you are more than that number on the scale.

Goodness, I am feeling for you right now. All that work, enjoyable as it may be. Maybe the scale is broken or some other wacky force of nature is taking place. But I know if there is anyone who can bust through plateau-ville, it's you. Keep at it girl!

Ughh! I am MAD FOR YOU just reading this. It just doesn't make any sense. I wish I had some suggestions or advice, but I'm at a loss.
I have been working hard for the past 4 weeks, and I weighed EXACTLY the same the end of the 4th week. SO FRUSTRATING! So, I understand and you can vent away to me anytime! Just stay strong and hang in there and keep on believing!

Just want to say I KNOW!! It's so FRIPPIN' aggravating! But it's nice to know that there are others out there working their tails off and not seeing progress on the scale for a while. And good to know that there are people who get mad and rant and then go do the right stuff anyway. You're right -- when it seems like no movement is discernible, that doesn't mean we want to go back to where we were. It's just maddening. Let it out, sister!

Met one of my goals!

Monday, November 14, 2011

Hey everyone! I have been so concerned with not getting a lot of results with P90X that I completely didn't pay attention to how my clothes were fitting. I've been focused on getting to my goal weight that I didn't even realize (until this weekend) that I have reached the goal size I have on my spark page. I bought four pairs of size 10 dress pants and a dress in a size 10! WOO HOO! That's awesome!

Now I'm going to keep up eating healthy and exercising and see how far it takes me. Have a great day people!

Changing it up!

Wednesday, November 09, 2011

Since I just finished P90X I knew I had to do something else. I was browsing around on Facebook and Bob Harper's post came up about a sale on videos on his website. So I took a look and found his Inside Out method videos for less than $30 for four videos. I had his strength video and had done it before and really liked it so I bought them. They came just before I finished P90X so I decided to try the cardio video.

Holy COW! It kicked my butt and blew the P90X workouts away! It was AWESOME! I burned almost 900 calories in an hour! It felt great!

Fast forward to yesterday (the day AFTER the great workout) and I went to tae kwon do class. Usually our Grand Master teaches on Tuesdays for high belt class but he didn't teach and so we had to improvise. The kids outnumbered the adults so we ended up getting about 15 minutes of warmup and helping out for the rest of the class. So I went home and did Jillian Michaels 30-day Shred level 1 workout. It was enough. I was starting to get sore though so I took it easy.

Tonight I did the strength video again. Kicked my butt - again! Whew! I'm sore but feel great and am excited to see the results on the scale this week.

Oh - and we had a potluck at work today and I only had 1/4 of a brownie and one bite of a dip on a cracker so I didn't go overboard. Yay me!

Tomorrow is my LAST day of P90X!

Friday, November 04, 2011

I can't believe I'm almost done! It's become such a habit I won't know what to do next. I did get a few Bob Harper In and Out Method workout DVD's though. He has a Yoga one I'm looking forward to trying. The strength one kicks my BUTT! So I can't wait to try them. Did Tae Kwon Do tonight but didn't get much of a workout because I was helping some of the lower belt students so I came home and did Cardio X anyway. :) Tomorrow is the TKD tournament. I'm not participating, but having a booth with my friend for Herbalife so hopefully it will be a good experience to get some other business.

So tomorrow I need to do Yoga X one LAST time. I'm considering doing the Bob Harper Yoga tape but it sounds more intense than the P90X one and I'm supposed to be recovering this week before I take my after photos so I'll do the Yoga X tomorrow like a good girl and finish strong. Have a great weekend people!
