Great photos! So nice to get together with your family!!
Yep, those blackmail photos get snapped and spread pretty quick ;)) No body would believe its you though, would think it was photo shopped..
I may be seeing my sister tomorrow if she comes in, keeping fingers crossed as it will mean getting rid of my loveseat and freeing up more exercise space in my living room..
Enjoy your evening.

What happened to the guy who use to take care of his body & care about how he looks..
PLEASE does anyone have an answer as to 'why' he looks like he is 9 months pregnant!!
He comes home from work & gets on the treadclimber I catch him leaning on it while walking on it & feel like I'm Jillian (the Biggest loser) yelling at him to get up & do it right!!
Then when he does finish he takes a shower than drinks two-24 ounce beers & eats ice cream than Yea I do make dinner & he decides to eat sandwiches..
OK NOW I just want to CHOKE the life out of him!!
Oh let's not forget about the candy bars he hides in the freezer.. BIG candy bars..
I just cant figure it out at all.
When we got the Bowflex's he had me take before pic's & I thought he could lose 10lbs then ...
OK that 10lbs is now 30lbs!!
YES he is almost 200lbs..
He has never ever been like this at all. I keep telling him you are not a kid anymore & you have to at least please not eat & drink like a College student!!
I told him last night I was going to take insurance out on him cause he is slowly doing himself in with what he is doing..
OH get this..At my job I work on a Buffet, & we have a Breakfast one on Sunday mornings..
Bacon is so popular & it is the first thing to be gone fast & we bake it. Well he has a tantrum if he has to wait for it..
OMG!!!! WHY is he doing this.. He wears a size 38 pants & they are under that bulging belly..
I just don't know anymore ..

i wish i had the magic answer for you, unfortunately some peole get it and some people don't. my husband and i started this around the same time, so it's been awesome, but i have definitely been in relationships where you are the only one that seems to be pushing...all you can do is focus on what you are doing, and hopefully the big guy will come around....

the plain old lazy caught my attention...I've got one too... he hasn't had a full time job since he was 49.. he goes into denial about his glaucoma (5 dr. now must be wrong!) and last spring he was diagnosed with diabetes, and of course they were wrong about that too - now he eats lots of chocolate bars - which he never did before... but so much for commiserate, I have to look after me, I can't look after him too, he's not a baby anymore...

    Hi Chris
I wish that I had some big time nagging or encouragement over the years. You have a couple of good suggestions, one being the doctor, but sometimes that won't even work. You could show him my picture at before weight and even though he is almost 200 pounds, at one time so was I leveling at 212 figure and slowly edging up to the 254 mark. Now what causes this kind of attitude. I look back over my life, never really had good self esteem, a little concerned at times with weight gains, but never enough to stop it. He could be going through issues like that, if at one time he use to take care of himself, says to me it is a deeper issue problem within him, I had a lot of issues that I worked through BUT the 254 mark really got my attention and I got frightened Show him the picture tell him I use to wear 38's but the picture they are 48, down now to a 34. You can tell him that he can also wait until he is 67 like I was. I was lucky health wise, no guarantees for any ones health when they become obese. He isn't there Yet but moving up to it.
But Chris, the sad thing, people only change when they really want to. If he really would want to I would give him support and encouragement that he can change it. I don't know how old he is, but I got 2 sons close to 50 that one is obese and the other overweight. , lots of lips service but no action.
But for you and your hubby, tell him, I will support him.
By the way I looked like I was going to have twins.
Also, I am here to support you in what ever way I can.

I hope that your DH follows your lead and gets healthy.

So sorry DH isn't with the program :(( Will a heart to heart talk with him get at the answer why?? Something eating at him, causing him stress out so that he is emotional eating or something? Shipping him to a Dr. for a check up might be some help -a professional telling him to shape up. Making sure you don't bring any junk into the house is also another way. If he wants he he can go get it type of thing. Unfortunately, you are not alone in this situation. Lots of woman have husbands who eat anything they want and are overweight while their poor wives are slaving away trying to keep their fitness and health up. I wonder if they have a Spark team for this, they should really have.
I hope you can find a solution to this vexing problem..
Hugs,
Linda

If you can get him to do it- a trip to a cardiologist might be in order. It could save his life if he finds out from a medical expert what is going on inside his body! Good luck.

I almost lost my DH when he had his heart attach. Quadruple by pass woke him up in a hurry. He too was over 200 pounds. He looks great now and works out every day.

Good luck- You deserve it and so does he! Pat

PAIN!!!!

Monday, October 11, 2010

This has been going on for a LONG time with me & I can't figure this out at all..
MY problem is sitting.
When I sit at my computer & or couch for 15 minutes of less than that I have bad pain in the back of my left leg from my butt to my knee. The pain is so bad I at times feel like I will pass out!
Then trying to stand up is a BIG JOKE too.
I can't for a while,like 5 minutes than it goes away.
Last night it was so bad I was crawling on all fours to just get around.
Then once again it went away.
I only could do my strength training & my treadclimber this morning & on my treadclimber I wasn't able to go the speed I normally do.
My Dr, said I need to see a nerve Dr, she thinks I might have a pinched nerve..
BUT it only happens when I sit..
Thank GOD!! I stand at my job!!
Anyone else ever have this problem??

    hey Chris,

I got wind of this late, but sounds like what I have if it goes awry....They call it Piniformis Syndrome ( look it up on the web) When I was introduced to it i was coming home from work and I was between tears and crawling taking baby steps to get home. After that episode I have not let it gotten that bad! I had obtained this by trying to open up some painted down windows years ago. Actually, it is a precursor to actually having sciatica. So it may be sciatica or piniformis syndrome.

When I sit too much or on one side too much i aggravate it or coming in and out of the car a lot, that bothers it too.

If you have this not much they will do actually. They told me to rest it and take muscle relaxant ( prescribed and which can become addictive if taken too often) I got off that and now just take Aleve. Or/and heat to it. They can give a steroid shot if it is really bad, but it is a temporary fix. Not sure if they can do surgery and if it wld be warranted becz it is such a small spot that is amazing affects so many movements!

Hope that you are doing well now tho! It can be a biache' and stop you in ur tracks from doing everything from coughing to working out! But I do know also that keeping it stretched in that area keeps it at bay too! emoticon

btw, i saw that someone mentioned accupuncture, I always wanted to try that and believe that is a valid option as well. I just never got around to it and since working out I just try to keep the muscles around it strengthened, but that is an option after you check wiht the doc to see what it actually is...

I'm so sorry you are hurting like this. It makes you feel so powerless when there seems to be nothing you can do about it. You've had good advise here giving you lots of options for how to help with this pain.

In order to choose wisely you first need to know what's going on so please see a doctor or physical therapist you trust to have the expertise to sort it out for you. Then - I suggest a combination of whatever therapies give you relief.

For me, it wasn't just one thing. Acupuncture was wonderful because I began to get relief from the pain - then I was able to do more in physical therapy - which helped me strengthen without overworking and making it worse. The stretches she showed me are now part of my daily workout. I hope you will find what works best for you.

left side ....... it sounds like the pinched nerve is in the lower spine. possibly a disc but I am not a doctor. I juat have degenerative disc disease and have had 2 surgeries and will probably have to have 3 more levels fused because they are bad. It affects my left leg. I have since lost the ankle jerk in the left ankle. Part of my left foot is numb also from my back. I do pray they find out what it is and all it needs is a steroid shot or electrical massage to fix it. Take care and remember sitting down is the worst thing to do. Stand or lay down at least until you find out what you are dealing with.

    Hi Chris

If it is sciatic nerve, I had that several years ago, went for acupuncture, took about 3 months , but haven't been bothered since. I hope you do find the problem.

Did you fall or do anything odd recently? This happened to my mom, and it was a sciatica never. She fell though, which is what caused it. It took a while, months actually (she's 80+ though) for it to get better, but it still causes her problems every now and then. Definitely go see someone about it.

JHADZHIA 10/11/2010 10:52AM

Sorry Chris :(( Hugs. I agree with the others, sounds like sciatic. Unfortunately, other than giving your nerve a numbing shot, I am not sure what they can do about it. I have a friend who suffered a year with this problem, it crippled her right up, she could barely walk or sit, but hers was ALL the time. That yours only happens when you sit is a bit strange for sciatic. If you can get in to see the nerve Doc, you should (I had to wait a year to see one when I was getting numbness in my right hand.) Good luck with it and take it EASY for a change.

I would recommend a chiropractor. My husband used to get such bad pain that would go down into one leg and up to his chest. It would hurt so much he could hardly breath. He went to a chiropractor and after the first visit felt much better. Took about a week to feel recovered, then once a month visits.

A friend of mine on an exercise site and I have been having the same issues. I haven't had mine diagnosed yet, but hers is from piriformis/sciatica. This is caused by a nerve being pinched in an area of the hip. Check it out online. Hers is relieved by a good sports massage therapist and chiropractor. I am scheduling them on my end soon. Good luck, mine does ease up after several days without running, but if I run, I suffer for a few days. Good luck!! I hope this helps a little.

My cat 'JD' has been missing for 1 week now.
Yea some of you might be thinking "hey cats take off all the time" BUT not our 'JD'.
He stayed in our yard & when he was outside on nice days he was always in eye shot never out of sight!'JD' is almost 9yrs old & isn't a cat that would just go with anyone.
He only came to us & us alone!
He wouldn't let anyone pick him up who he didn't know & BELIEVE me he has razor sharp claws & teeth he wasn't afraid to use.
As you can see in this picture he is a big cat & is loved very much!
I just wish I knew what happened to him.
Was it his time & he just went off to die?
We have searched every where possible, in the woods on the trails along the high way in yards NO 'JD".
I just PRAY that if he is a live that he is safe.
I know what some people might say why did I let him outside?
Cause he only went out when the weather was nice & didn't go anywhere.
He was a Bear in the winter & stayed inside.
He would take over my bed with his blankie under him & snooze.
"Jd' I miss you!!

Love your Mom

A week is a long time (mine used to go missing for days) but I am saying a prayer for him to return.

Is it possible you locked him inside a building? My one cat was missing a couple of days and was locked in the garage - which I wasn't using! It happens! Thankfully she was fine - just lying around in a tire, waiting for "Mom" to let her out.

Good luck good buddy!
