I AM BACK AND DETERMINED!

Saturday, January 01, 2011

Decided I better get back to Spark People since I do so well with the program.Just noticed it has been about 2 years since I was last here. How time flies.Received an e-mail the other day that the book Spark is now in paperback.I put in an order through Amazon. They noted that it won't be shipped till around the end of the month. That is so disappointing.I was hoping to have it to start out the new year.My brother and a friend have both lost 80 pounds or more back in 2010.If my brother can do it I can do it.He is such an inspiration.
Here is to a healthier and smaller me in 2011!

I had a similar experience ... have been gone for too long! I know this will work if we just stay with it. Glad you're back - and wish you much success emoticon

My Pedometer

Saturday, May 23, 2009

I love my pedometer. It is the best pedometer that I have ever owned.Previously I have owned the type of pedometer that you clip on your waistband. No longer.I have been using my Omron pocket pedometer since around the beginning of the year and I love it.

Had to replace it once since I forgot to take it out of my pants pocket which meant that it got ruined when it went through the wash cycle.

I guess you could say that was a blessing in disguise.A friend had a pocket pedometer but her's came with computer program which enables you to download you walking stats on to your computer.I upgraded to that pedometer which was a little more in cost.

I am loving being able to look at my walking stats.I had no idea that I could burn around 400 calories by walking briskly in our town park.I downloaded my stats the other day and was amazed to see how well I had done on my brisk walk in our town park.Being able to get the stats like that is a great motivator to me.It even graphs which of my daily steps are aerobic or not.

I would highly recommend this pedometer to anyone that wants to see how well you are doing when you are out walking.

That sounds great! Much better than my clip-on might-register and might-not pedometer. Thanks for the heads up! :)

Pedometers are a great tool for keeping track of all those steps you take in a day. It's amazing how quickly those steps can add up and the calories that you can melt away!! Glad to hear that you are enjoying it. I think that will be my next kind too...in the pocket type.

Ten Pounds Gone

Tuesday, May 05, 2009

How thrilling it is to see that 10 pounds have now disappeared for good. The one thing that has really helped me lose my first ten pounds is tracking my food intake on the nutrition page.I also try to get some movement in each day by either walking and or riding my stationary bike.I also wear a pedometer to track my steps.
Our weather has been so rainy lately that I haven't been able to get in as much walking outside as I would like.Yesterday I took a nice walk and managed to log 7,500 steps on my pedometer.I know that the recommended daily steps should be 10,000 steps and I am striving to get there.I have done it in the past and can do it again!
Today I will be starting my strength training.I have routines worked out that I have used in the past.Strength training is another part in getting fit.

Nice To See The Pounds Dropping

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I thought that I would start blogging about my weight loss adventure. It has been about two weeks or so since I decided to get serious about losing this weight I have gained the last few years.I had lost about 45 pounds about 5 years ago.I haved gained back the weight I lost since going through 3 stressfull years with family illnesses and deaths of a sibling and a parent.
I am watching what I eat and getting movement into my days.So nice that I can wear a pair of jeans that didn't fit after the holidays. They have been hanging in my closet since January.Monday I decided to try them on and boy was I happy to see them fit once again.
Our weather has been so nice for walking.I use a pocket pedometer that came with a software program. It has been fun tracking my steps on my computer.I like the way it tracks aerobic steps. That gives me a push to get out and walk to get those aerobic steps logged each day.
Hope to post here at least once a week.
