I'm The Bright Star of the Week

Saturday, March 24, 2012

We just finished the first week of the Spring 5% Weight Loss Challenge.I am down 3 pounds. When I went to log in my weight loss on the team page this morning I noticed an announcement concerning the Bright Star of the Week.Since I like to send a Goodie to the person who is the Shining Star of the Day I wanted to make sure I sent one to the Bright Star of the Week.

What a surprise to find my name when I clicked on the announcement.I was chosen since I accomplished drinking 10 glasses of water a day during the first week of the challenge. We were suppose to drink at least 8 glasses.

I enjoy drinking water so it wasn't all that hard for me to get in at least 10 glasses of water each day.The thing that has really helped with getting in plenty of water each day are the nice tumblers that I had ordered from QVC.They are called travel tumblers. They are double insulated and come with a drinking straw and a tightly sealed removable lid.The tumblers are 22 ounces so I can easily drink almost 3 glasses of water in no time.I refill my tumbler during the day straight from the tap.I refill it at night and place it in the refrigerator so my water is nice and cold in the morning.I try to drink one tumbler full of water in the morning before I have my first cup of hot green tea.I also usually drink at least 1/2 or more of a tumbler of water when exercising for an hour doing my Wii Walk It Out workout.

I am so thrilled that I am down 3 pounds the first week of the challenge.Sure wish I had joined a challenge before now.Iam staying very focused since I know I have the weigh in lurking and will need to post how I did each Saturday during the challenge.

Now on to another good week...

congratulations and from your numbers you were drinking way more than 10!!! that is wonderful. and I like your way of doing it - its amazing now much easier it is to drink it if we only make it more accessible to ourselves!

Spring 5% Weight Loss Challenge and Wii Walk It Out

Friday, March 16, 2012

I have written about Wii Walk It Out in previous posts but it has been awhile.I had gotten close to finishing my second island but slowed down on it since I didn't want it to end.

A few weeks ago I received an invitation to join the Spring 5% Weight Loss Challenge. That was the incentive I really needed.I joined and was placed on The Shooting Stars. The challenge begins tomorrow March 17th which is St.Patricks Day.It will run for 8 weeks.

You are wondering what the challenge might have to do with me finishing my second island on Wii Walk It Out.Knowing that the challenge was starting soon gave me the push I needed to finish the island.

I want to start building my new island at the start of the Spring 5% Weight Loss Challenge. It will be interesting to see how far I build my island during this time.I usually work out for about an hour while building my island. It's great exercise and lots of fun.You can't beat the encouraging coaches Warren and Nancy on WIO!!

Let the fun times begin.I am ready for both the Spring 5% Weight Loss Challenge and building my new island.

Countdown To Spring 5% Challenge Assignment 3

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Today's assignment is to list all the reasons you want to lose weight. What do you want to change? How do you want to look? How do you want to feel? What things will you be able to do in the future with a slimmer healthier body? And list all the OTHER things that you want to change!

I want to lose weight and be stronger. This will increase my health and well being.I am a 61 year old grandmother who wants to be active with her grandchildren and enjoy life to the fullest.

I want to be more active.I was quite active last year and sort of let that slide over the winter. This was a mild winter so I didn't shovel as much snow as in the two previous winters.I enjoy that aspect of winter although I hate driving in the snow.

I want to feel more enegetic. Thanks to not exercising much and gaining back some weight I feel rather sluggish.I don't like that feeling and will be changing it during this challenge.

Need to try harder to get in at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables.I will continue to get in 8-10 glasses of water.I have a nice 22 ounce covered insulated traveling tumbler that is great for drinking my water at home and away. There is an attached straw which is also great.I bought a set on QVC about a month ago and love them tumblers.

I also want my jeans to be loose once again. They have gotten rather snug over the winter.

Spring will soon be here so I am thinking ahead to my spring clothes.I want to be able to wear them comfortably and not have them be snug too!

You have the determination to complete your goals. I'm not worried at all.
Once the mindset is there; you are taking off.
Good luck!!

What is your exercise plan?

I don't like the word diet.I am counting my calories and tracking on SP Nutrition Tracker. Will try my best to get in at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

Do you know how to connect with your team mates?

Oh What A Month

Saturday, January 28, 2012

So glad that we are coming to the end of the month. What a month it has been.

I started the month with that horrible rash on my arms thanks to that new lotion I bought.Thankfully I can now say that the rash has healed and is no longer itching.

I have continued doing strength training at least 2 times a week. One week I even managed to get strength training done 3 times due to shoveling snow.

Now on to the not so good things. My once baggy jeans are now snug on me.I know I have gained some weight but honestly I have not wanted to step on the scales. It would be too discouraging. This is coming from someone that stepped on the scales in the morning and evening.Once my head is on straight again I will step back on the scales.Just too much to deal with now.

I am still trying to process two things that have happened this week that have really knocked me for a loop.

Our youngest daughter's best friends little 4 year old son was diagnosed with leukemia on Wednesday. What a blow this has been.I have been praying for this family and will continue to pray for little Riley's healing and his rough days ahead with treatments.

If that wasn't enough our son in law found out yesterday that the bottling plant that he has been working at for 13 years is closing its doors in 3 months. That means 110 people out of jobs. Both the plant which is owned by Kroger and our local Kroger store are closing. The store will be closing the end of March. This is such a blow to our community which consists of two towns with a combined population of about 15,000 people. It will be so hard for the employees to find a job that pays that well and with such good benefits.

I would like to ask for prayers for our son in law as he looks for a new job which is comparable to what he now has and for little Riley.

February has to be much better!!

Nancy, your SIL and Riley are in my prayers. Too many people are losing jobs. Companies like Kroger can afford to keep one store open. They keep building new stores.

I do feel for Riley and his family. This is really difficult for all of them.

Please keep us updated.

Sorry you have a lot of stress in your life. I'm glad you are staying active. It sounds like a lot of things are happening. I hope you get back on track with your eating and can help your SIL find a job. So sorry for your daughter's friend.

Have a better day.
