emoticon for sharing. I've always said that the only real failure is not trying at all. What the world looks at as "failure" is really just a learning experience. After all, who is perfect, especially on the first go?

Moving forwards and getting over the past

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

It's been two years since the break up with my ex happened but he and his judgemental family still turn up in my dreams, which is horrible and makes me feel really rubbish.

Working in progress list of getting over my ex, and using the break up as the best changing opportunity in life, to make the most of my life, produce new memories and moments that help me to focus on the present and the future.

-Look as sexy as possible every morning. Put make up on. etc...
-Vitalise my relationships with friends and other people.
-Manage my time in the best possible way + be self disciplined
- Exercise 5 hours a week
- Do housework 30 mins a day (min)
-Cook a cake everyweek and 3 new types of veggie interesting meals each week.
-Review the time out art galleries, films and music events
-Review music artists in mercury music award nominations
-Collect/order clothes and accessories from online stores
-Learn how to smile, even when I am not up for it.
-Sort out CV and do my best to get a pass A in the teaching thing.

...There we are, hopefully this will help me to move on.

You can't control your dreams but you can control what you do about them. Your list is a great idea to help you move on. Have you also though about looking into the meaning of your dreams, to try to track down what is causing them? When I was married I would frequently have these dreams where all my teeth would fall out. I thought it was just because I didn't want to end up with dentures like my grandparents. Turns out that particular type of dream is a symbol of a lot of repressed anger...which fit married life with the PEH (psycho ex husband). I WAS angry a lot, and keeping it all bottled in. If I had known that sooner I could have saved myself a lot of anguish by ending an unhealthy relationship sooner than I did.

Maybe your body or mind is trying to tell you there is a problem somewhere in the only way it can.

I like the get up and be as sexy as possible every morning. I think that is where I fail miserably, but that's because I don't care if anyone finds me attractive right now. I am not "open for business" as some would say.

But I think you have a valid point... this is a list of small things that have HUGE impacts on our life!

So happy to see you back online and leaving us breadcrumbs to come and find you!

This fit me today. Tomorrow I am doing a 16 mile run. I have only gone this far once before in my life. My family was pumping me up and kept telling me to "mentally get in the zone". Thanks for this post!

Improving Self-Discipline

Thursday, July 12, 2012

Currently looking at how to improve my self discipline, since it seems to be the centre of a lot of my problems.

This you tube-video talks about how it's helpful to focus on becoming a master at something, ie. at "the craft", rather than simply aiming for a reward or the material end.

I seem to find the process of doing certain things really offputting and only want to do them to get to an end/goal and so become really unmotivated.

I like the idea of becoming a master at the craft of self-discipline and trying to focus on the enjoyment of the process rather than the simple end. I know it sounds idealistic but might be useful.

Just like with exericse-it is something we will have to do for the rest of our lives, so might as well find something you enjoy, master it and learn other types along the way! Kind of like what you are talking about. I have been trying to do the same thing! Losing the weight is important and I think of it as a bonus and am ok with losing it slowly. A lifestyle change takes time and I value everything I learn & change for the better! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I never thought of it that way; it's always been the end result. Many thanks for this, it's made me think differently...

I don't think it's idealistic at all....and everybody has their own idea of what self discipline is what works for one may not work for the other....I shall watch this vid when I get stinkin' youtube access at work...Dang them for thinking we should be working!! emoticon
