Remember that line in Clueless? It's still one of my favorite movies.

Yep, today I had a stomachache and a headache, and I was lethargic and feelng down. Guess who came to visit!

Rained out

Friday, September 11, 2009

Once again, it's Friday and it's raining! My softball game was canceled. It's so fun when we actually get to play but we've had so many cancelations, it's really annoying!

Dying for weight loss?

Thursday, September 10, 2009

I just read this terrible story about a woman who used an "extreme crash diet" to lose weight before her wedding, and ended up dying. One strategy of the diet is to eat under 500 calories per day, which I would hope people know is unhealthy. I don't want to vilify this poor woman; I think it's terrible that she died and perhaps more terrible that she felt the need to do something so extreme to the detriment of her health. However, it seems that when people do these sorts of things, there's sometimes a lack of responsibility for themselves. What do other people think?

That is a very sad and unfortunate story. My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends. What we have to learn across the board is that you have to have a balanced diet and workout to get the long lasting results we all desire. Quick fixes and yo-yo diets never work.

Calories yesterday were very low

Wednesday, September 09, 2009

So, my calories (as well as some other items) were very low yesterday. I didn't try to make them that low, which is the weird part. I know my breakfast was pitiful. All I ate was a granola bar. That was circumstantial, because I had a 9:30 doctor appointment, so I just went straight from home. Usually I eat breakfast at work, but in this case I wasn't going to get to work until after 10 at the earliest, so I just ate the granola bar while I got ready at home. I purposely ate a True Delights one, because I know it has more calories that my usual ones, which are low-fat (140 instead of 90). Then I was so hungry I ate lunch at around 11:45. I bought it at the cafeteria at work, because I didn't bring my usual because I didn't want it sitting in the car getting warm while I was at the doctor's. So, I had a slice of quiche and a side of roasted vegetables, plus a brownie for a snack. Then, for dinner, my bf and I had Indian, and I had aloo ghobi, which is cauliflower and potatoes in a sauce, with rice, plus a mango lassi. I don't usually get that entree, but rather something like paneer tikka masala or chicken tikka masala, which are both higher in calories. Then, I didn't eat any snacks last night because I was so tired and kind of cold, that I just lied in bed reading until I went to sleep much earlier than usual, which was around 10. So, it just sort of worked out that I ended up very low in calories yesterday. I mean, take a look at my nutrition page if you'd like...I had under 1000 calories, and my range is 1500-1750. I couldn't believe it when I entered my dinner this morning and saw the total. It's just crazy to me because most days, I struggle to stay within my range and then yesterday happens...
