Fitness test May 5, 2014

Monday, May 05, 2014

ugh, I'm not in very good shape. That really isn't a surprise to me. But I guess this is a place to start and see how I progress over the next 12 weeks. Thankfully, my BF was here to push me along and keep going on the test. I'm not a competitive person, so I would have given up sooner than he let me. I did do the step test wrong and counted the number of step ups I made rather than counting my heart rate at the end. My shorthand notes of the challenge were not very good, obviously.

SMART goals for 2014

Friday, January 17, 2014

My goal for 2014 is to lose 40 lbs by Thanksgiving 2014. As a part of that goal, I will lose 7 inches around my waist through weight loss and exercise.

I will employ the following behaviors to achieve my goal for 2014:
1. I will eat vegetables and/or fruit at every meal.
2. I will do cardio a minimum of 20 minutes 6x a week.
3. I will do ST training 3x a week.
4. I will track my intake and exercise and show a deficit at least 4x a week.

I expect to be held accountable by my teammates, my significant other and family members.

Great goals! Now take some time to picture yourself already there. I find it very helpful to write my goals as if they happen in the present. (i.e. I eat vegetables and/or fruit at every meal.)

Accomplishments thus far?

Sunday, January 05, 2014

This is not a good one for me as I have gained back most of the weight I've lost over the past several years. While my losses and gains have been in the 10-15 lb range each time, but they have accumulated and now I can start all over again. This yo-yo dieting is not good for the body and spirit. It is time to get serious and just change my way of eating. Sweets are definitely my weakness. So my goal will be to greatly reduce them from my diet and increase the number of vegetables on a daily basis. I now see the effects of minimal exercise over the last 6 months (extended vacations during 5 of those months), so now I have to undo that damage and keep plugging away on reducing those inches, toning and tightening the muscles, increase flexibility.

Two steps forward and one step back! That's an improvement over my current one step forward and two steps back! LOL

This year I am taking 30 day healthy life challenges. Last month was 30 days no tv. This month 30 days no fast food/ restaurant foods. Every month I will be incorporating something new into my life in order to increase my healthiness on longevity!

Adding in more veggies is a great way to keep from getting hungry. If you get snacky, try baby carrots or celery sticks. You can dip them in greek yogurt or a good low fat dressing.

Hi Cheryl, I have the same problem, gaining and losing the same 10 pounds. I'm hoping that BLC24 will keep me motivated to stick with it this time. I've found that I have to start my day off right with a low-sugar breakfast or I'm off track for the whole day. Maybe we'll end up on the same team! emoticon emoticon

Hey there Cheryl, it is nice to hear from you. :) It is amazing how just a few months can make such a significant difference in our bodies. I know you can get the weight back off and get to where you want to be. Start slow and take your time. Have you tried creating a new vision board. Our current perspectives change and now would be a good time to create a new board.
Have a terrific day!

Goals for BLC24

Sunday, January 05, 2014

I need to make my weight loss goal for BLC24 doable. I've tried pumping it up in the past to motivate me, but that didn't work. So I am going to keep it doable (12 lbs in 12 weeks) and everything else I lose will be a bonus! It is my plan to do some form of cardio 5 days a week and ST every other day. I will stay in my calorie range 5 of the 7 days, and shoot for the low end of the range most days. I will post on the chat thread every day to keep myself motivated and to motivate others. I will be without internet for one week so will have to be excused for that week.
