My New Custom LED Hoop!

Saturday, May 07, 2011

My husband is endlessly talented and he's known for quite sometime that I've been wanting an LED hoop.. but the main problem I was having was I couldn't decide on the type of programs I wanted my hoop to have.. and most developers make hoops with a set number of programs in them... so he took it upon himself to make me an LED hoop with endless programs. I can design one, download it to my hoop, and its all set to go.. all I have to do is push a little button to cycle through them! I'm insanely happy and excited to have my hoop!!

Hooping Day

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

A while back I hosted a hooping day for a few of my friends! I had a wonderful time.. my male friend decided that he wanted to get in on the action too! You know.. he's a guy and thought that hooping would be OH SO EASY! I made him put his money where his mouth is so to speak! lol he was a great sport and picked up the hoop and while he never did keep it up... I think he had a lot of fun learning and I know he had a lot of fun watching his girlfriend/my friend!

Me with my hoops... explaining to said male friend why smaller & lighter hoops are NOT easier..

Me demonstrating your push points..

Now it's his turn!

Nope... try it like this..

His last chance.... lol he looks like he's really hooping though doesn't he? :)

I'm quite proud that he tried to hoop.. I am a little saddened that his girlfriend/my friend wouldn't let us photograph her.. but I am hoping next trip....... I am however, happy to report that she has purchased her own hoop and is hoping to continue hooping! and I learned that wow, I really need to work on those bye-bye arms! YIKES!

Junebug Quilt

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Here she is! All freshly washed and ready to be used! This is my first quilt of 2011 and also the first quilt I have ever sent off to be stippled. I was really very nervous about mailing it off, especially to someone I didn't know after all the hours I put into piecing it.. but it went really smoothly and I had it back in no time! It's the perfect size for a sofa throw.. just enough room for 2 to cuddle under and warm enough without being too hot. I love this thing!!

Quilt pattern is Junebug by Thimble Blossoms (Camille Roskelley)
Fabric is Sunkissed by Sweetwater for Moda
Pieced & Bound by me
Quilted by Donna Francis
Photographed on queen size bed.

Food Journal: 3/19/11

Sunday, March 20, 2011

I've really liked doing smoothies for breakfast.. I think it started a long time ago when I did slimfast.. it was something easy and thoughtless I could do while still sleepy and when I adapted to a healthier lifestyle than slimfast I started adding fresh fruit, flavorings, and whatever else I felt like that day and it kept me full much longer than the powdery drink that probably started my smoothie love! So for breakfast I had a chocolate strawberry smoothie :)

I'm totally addicted to True Blood & the Sookie Stackhouse books so I decided for lunch I was going to have a Merlotte's dish and opted for Terry's Jailhouse Chili (with 1/4 oz corn chips) & a drink of 1/2 orange juice & 1/2 grapefruit juice.

My husband found a recipe for quinoa taco salad and it's really fantastic! I admit, I wish it had corn chips but since I had already eaten some during the day and was trying to save my calories for snacking.... I left them out.

We usually spend our saturday nights curled up on the sofa with a dvd but this time we settled in with big bowls of homemade kettle corn :) 400 calories for that huge bowl! Not too bad of a snack :) especially considering all the calories I burned before this hooping!! Oh! Notice the quilt? I just finished it ;) blog post about it coming tomorrow! Oh and please ignore the pile of hoops on the floor.

My heart rate monitor has been telling me that my body is getting used to me hooping in place so I took the time yesterday to perfect walking while hooping... while I don't know that I have really gotten it down perfect, I am able to walk a few steps (my work out space is limited) in one direction and a few steps back in the other.. walking to the right is a bit more challenging but it proves that moving while hooping is what I need to do to keep the calorie burn high.

Total Calories: 2,200 calories
Calories Burned: 830 calories / hoopdance

AUGUSTMASQUE: I don't really use any recipes for my smoothies.. I just sort of pick what I kind of want it to taste like but I have been following this basic recipe.. I'm a Vegan so you can substitute with whatever dairy items you have :)

1c Milk (I use almond or soy)
3 scoops Protein Powder (Optional but I find it helps keep you full)
1/2 - 1c Frozen Fruit (in this case strawberry)
1tsp-1tbsp Cocoa Powder
Optional, Sweetener of choice (I use agave)
