Personal Best- Nike run

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

I wasn't in the mood but I did it anyways and I'm so glad I did.
I walk decided to try to do my 5K race. Put on my ankle and wrist weights and off I went.
On top of that I tried a different route which had a lot more hills.
So I get a little more than A 5K and when I hit end run I got a note that said " congratulations you just made it personal best".

In addition to that I just walked the whole way. I didn't do any jogging because last time I went to my chiropractor he said no jogging because my ankle was out of sorts.

I am satisfied and proud of myself! emoticon

Did you know that Spark offers this too?!

Wednesday, September 05, 2012

I was so excited to find that you can change the time for spark people. I used to get frustrated because I would want to post a blog or get points but it was after midnight and so it would be counted for the next day.
This is great for night owls. You can have your day end later than midnight. so for those whose day doesn't end until they go to bed you can have it set for then. That way everything you do for that day of yours is not the actual calendar day.
This is so cool.

You can also reset your points awarded for reading articles. which is so great because if you have been on Spark for a while you have probably read many of the articles. The great thing about these articles many are worth reading more than once! You get to keep all your spark points but reset all the articles back to ZERO and then get credit again for rereading them.

These are awesome features!

Blah day

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

Just didn't feel like doing much of anything today. I made it to work and to go to school and print off some stuff for class.
Tomorrow is another day full of promise and opportunity.

2nd Nike walk with Elizabeth

Monday, September 03, 2012

2nd Nike walk with Elizabeth today. I went father & went faster than before.3.88 miles in 87 minutes.
Beat my last Walk in distance also.
Is so nice when the sidewalks are smooth and I can go a little faster! If they're really rough and I'm on side streets- I will walk in that in the street facing traffic.
I headed towards a new walking area. And made it there in just less than two miles. My goal was to go all the way around it and walk back. however it started sprinkling and didn't want to take a chance of downpour so I turned around went home.
It's a real nice area that was redone just a couple years ago and part of the walk you can walk around on the 'small island' in the river.
A lot people walk/run . Walk their dogs ride & their bikes. Most People are friendly. However most people are friendly when I walk around the neighborhood too.

Unplanned dinner invitation

Friday, August 31, 2012

Days I work I usually have my morning drink and my lunch is my main meal and then a snack in the afternoon and another small dinner snack.
Ballet at work as usual and when I left work I ended up getting an invitation to go out for a barbecue.
So I went and splurge and had grilled hamburger with one slice of cheese and tomato and mayonnaise and ear of corn and a very small serving of potato salad- like I fourth of a cup.
Before dinner and a little guacamole and chips and after dinner magnum ice cream bar.
That one meal had my calories for the whole day and I didn't plan on it.
It's much better to plan ahead for meals.
But if I have spare the moment dinner invitations in the future I need to decide before I get there when I'm going to have. Most of time if I get a dinner invitation and it worked I go out and just get a side salad for dinner and that works just fine.
I absolutely love fresh grilled hamburgers and I hardly ever have a bun. So next time I'll skip the bun and just enjoy the good hamburger.

Plus I didn't get my exercise and like I had planned.
Tomorrow definitely is my make up day!

The other thing I learned about this experience is this is how I was eating the majority of the time.
I never used to track my food salad and it is big eye-opener. so this is just another eye-opener that tells me how much better I been doing these last couple months. And I proud of myself because the majority of the time I'm in within my limits. I had that is something to be proud of.
I do better when I was on vacation. However yesterday I was off and I ate pretty light so if I combined the two days I can still be on track.
Plus I heard it is a very good idea to mixup your calorie intake from day-to-day so your body doesn't know what to expect and won't go into a starvation mode because you don't eat very much on one day.

Now I'm way past bedtime and I have to be up in four hours so I better get to sleep

The BEST way I have found to treat an UNPLANNED special invitation is to ENJOY yourself, make the best choices you can with what is available, enjoy the company and do NOT feel guilty regardless of what you ATE. You can eat a little less tomorrow and maybe the next day, but don't punish yourself or beat yourself up over a wonderful meal. You are ALLOWED to eat and ENJOY your food even when it is a little bit off your plan - as long as it is not every day or every meal - once in a while is OKAY and the REALLY important thing is NOT FEEL GUILTY - if you are not thrilled with your choices, plan for what you are going to do next time (oh, that's right, you ALREADY have a PLAN and you rock!!)
