I am on another site called “the daily challenge” and one for my connections just posted that she an alcoholic and is has been sober for 17 days now and was asking for support.
I sent her this:
I have a connection Angelina R., last week she posted she just celebrated her 3 year of sobriety. Look her up if you are interested.
I am sure she would be glad to cheer you on too. She is great- lives in Alaska, with parrot's and her husband has to leave for weeks at a time for his job.
Good for you for taking control of your life! Addictions are bad in so many ways- however once you acknowledge that you do have a problem and want to improve your life there are so many people who will support you in every day.
It does sound like you have wonderful people in your life and even better it sounds like you really like your life.
There are no guarantees about life. Life is for LIVING! So go live! Celebrate each new day.
Some where on spark people I saw a line that said “Life is for living-not just existing”. I can't find it now but it has a motivation page with all kinds of statements. It just hit me at the right time- I have just existed in so many ways. I have been sacrificing my life for inconsequential things. I am going to stop doing that.
I joined spark people and have just now have been getting into it. It is 'for weight loss' but in actuality it prompts Healthy LIVING! By taking control of your life and being accountable. There are many tools on there to help in the journey. you can track things you ate, exercising and many other actions. You can make up some specifically for you and your situation. There are many people on it and there are also many different 'teams' you can join to focus on things your interested in.
I am new there- and this one guy, marathondad, keeps 'liking' things I have posted. I have thanked him- but I am going to do it again because it really matters. It gives me inspiration. He doesn't always post anything but 'likes' it! I get a message that someone likes what I did or posted with thumbs up. It is amazing how much that means. I don't know how he has the time but I appreciate it!
I am crying right now. I really didn't know how much it meant to have that extra support.
The most amazing thing about spark people is that so many do not leave after they have completed their goal. They stay on and encourage others to succeed because they know how important it is to succeed and they want to help you.
They have several with your challenge. : AA,
Friends In Recovery (for sobriety), depends on what word you put into the search for teams. Most don't have a lot of members. (By a lot I mean thousands). The ones I saw had double and triple digests. It truly is a great community!
Here is my link: http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/registe
You get 10 points for asking a friend to join. The points are cool. On there you can ‘send ‘goodies’ Like: teddy bears, sunshine, peace signs, High five, WTG all kinds of fun positive things.
I just can't tell you how this support system has helped me so far. But I can feel it already. This time I am going to succeed in my goal to get healthy and be happy doing it!
I am leaving for vacation Monday but will be checking in. I just don't know how much I will be on line with the daily challenge. I will hit the 'done' every day if you want to join me in a pact~ “
