It's True!!!

Monday, March 31, 2014

I heard on an old Bally's commercial "to give us 30 days and you'll see results." This month for the very first time in my 55-year-old life, I stuck with the tried and true formula....healthy eating, drinking water, and fitness. I actually seen results in the way my clothes fit, my energy level rising, my sleep pattern getting better...I could go on and on about the changes!

I'm so excited and proud of myself for doing this. It was so tough at first, but I stuck it out and its finally feeling natural living healthy. Woohoo!!!!!!! emoticon

Congratulations Susan!! I'm so glad you are seeing the results of your hard work. My absolute favorite benefit of exercise is getting better sleep.

Moody Blues

Saturday, March 15, 2014

For me, that's depression in a nutshell. But it's also deeper than that. It's a legitimate physical and mental illness. It's not something you can shake off. It doesn't mean you're weak or lazy or looking for excuses not to do things.

The worse part of depression for me is my family's lack of understanding. I feel judged. I feel like the unpopular girl in school. I'm jealous that it's so hard for me to make friends as easily as my siblings.

My way of coping is taking it day by day. To not dwell on yesterday. To not worry about tomorrow. So I'm happy to say today's a good day!

What's His Motive?

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

I have a significant other that's constantly offering me sweets and fast foods. He does more than offer. He pops up with the stuff. He knows that I'm trying to lose weight. He keeps saying that he prefer that I'm heavier. I'm kind of thinking that he's getting a little insecure as I lose weight. How do I deal with him?

I went through the same thing. My SO is naturally slim and when I started losing weight he would bring home all types of fattening goodies he knew I love, he`s never done that before. emoticon

Like others have said, talk with him. Reassure him that as you get hotter you won't leave him and will still love him, be honest with how it makes you feel.

I think that everyone has given you great advice.

My hubby used to do this to me too. I got him more involved in the cooking and eating healthy process. I was on spark about 3 years when I finally got the initiative to push him a bit and say "LOOK I am trying to get healthy!", you can either bury me early (keep bring me JUNK to eat), or hey I can try to maintain my CKD and be healthy to live longer.

I wish you the best - I know how hard it is - but it a process - communication and consistency go a long way.

Take care of you!

Sounds like sabotage to me. If a healthier you threatens his security, then
he needs to adjust. I'd tell him he is contributing to your health issues, and
just because you are losing some weight does not mean you want to lose him.

Blessings,
Darlenek

Communicate to him and find out if he is insecure with your losing weight and let him know that he can bring this food over, but, that he will have to eat it because you will continue to try and be healthy.

Reassure him that you love him regardless of your size. Tell him you want to lose weight for your health. Talk about how much better you feel after losing a few pounds. Suggest small gifts you would appreciate--maybe dark chocolate covered strawberries or nuts.

Messed Up Sleep Patterns

Friday, July 12, 2013

Boy I'm off track. Fell asleep at 4am. Woke up at 6:30am. Feeling sleepy at 7:30 a.m. I'm either going to be groggy and fight off the sleep during this long day...or I'm going to fall back asleep and miss out on a productive day. Neither is good.

I hope you get back on track soon - we have a sleep challenge in our team forums again this month... there is also a sleep challenge with spark - which encouraged me to start the sleep challenge in our team.

I have messed up sleeping patterns too! I never fell asleep last night and I have an appointment at 11. Then I have to wait around for Dish to come and fix my satellite. Doesn't look like I will be going to bed for a nap anytime soon. Hopefully we both get some sleep tonight! Have a great weekend

Anemia

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Can anyone recommend an exercise for those that have anemia? I'm on interferon (sp?) therapy and one of the bad side effect is anemia. I feel lightheaded and winded sometimes. I hate having something interfering with my goals.

Charmain, this is a powerful drug you are on. Is it making you sick. I dont know what to tell you about exercise. My son was on this drug and it just about wiped him out. If you have the energy i would just try maybe to walk some. It will depend on how strong you are. This made him very weak. Do you give your self shots. this is what he did, and he was very sick from this drug. He said never again. Wishing you the best and please take care.

As much as I hate Pilates - I would encourage you to try this form of exercise. As they done on the floor laying flat. Also I want to encourage you to do strength training - this helps so many things in the body. Jean emoticon

the only thing I can think of is exercise. Try to get your heart pumping and see if that helps. But please be careful! don't ride your bike around town because I worry that you might get dizzy and fall. That would not be good. But try a dance video at home.
