Little Lessons I learned on my 3 day for the cure walk

Thursday, September 29, 2011

* never take anyone for granted you never know when you will lose them.

* always treat others with the highest respect and dignity they deserve it

* it doesn't hurt to hug someone you don't know what their situation is and that hug could be the only thing that they really need

* never judge a book by it's cover

* the journey of a million miles starts with a single step you just have to be willing to take the first step

* giving up is never an option

* love is truly what makes the world go round

What an adventure!!

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

The journey of a life time starts with a simple step!! omg what can I say about my adventure other than it was amazing and I met so many wonderful people who are now my "extended family".... let's see Day 1 we walked thru Washington DC we started at the Washington Nationals Stadium bright and early and all I can say is wow!! I cried like a girl at opening ceremony. I mean it's so touching when you are hearing the stories of the survivors of Breast Cancer and then walking with them and realizing that they are just amazing men and women. You've heard the expression of how some people come into your life and leave footprints on your heart?? well these people did just that!! honestly I feel so blessed to of been able to participate in something as amazing as this. I won't bore you to tears with words here but I want to share some of the pictures that I have from this experience I won't post them all as there are close to 200 and I don't want you feeling overwhelmed BUT if you would like to see them all leave me a comment and I'll share the link I have for them on my site..

Listen to the Mustn'ts Child, Listen to the don'ts, Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts, Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be. ~ Shel Silverstein

Have you ever felt that something was written for you?? I must admit I hear a lot of the mustn'ts, dont's, shouldn'ts, imppossibles, and won'ts. So I had to adopt this as my motto because just as it says at the very end.....Anything can happen, child. Anything can be. So as I was packing my bag with my sleeping bag and pillow as well as what I will be wearing for this 3 day walk I sat and pondered the amazing thing that I am doing.....because to me it is amazing. I mean to undertake this I had to train and make sure that my feet, my body, and my soul could actually handle the journey. I have packed my journal and everything else that I think that I will need. I know that this walk is going to be an amazing experience.

I'll not only have the opportunity to meet new people but I'll also have this amazing opportunity to make a difference in the world. I promise to keep a journal and post my little thoughts when I get home from this amazing experience. I believe it has once been said "the journey of 1000 miles starts with a single step. My question for you is do you feel that you have taken the time to take the first step to change your own world in some small way?
