Update on FitBit...

I wore my FitBit for 2 weeks, 24/7, until it was announced that a new model of FitBit is being released. So, I returned the FitBit Ultra and pre-ordered the FitBit One. The new model has the few features that I really desired. Unfortunately, the One isn't released until the end of October. :-(

So, I'm keeping up with logging everything into SP and FB (which will start to sync starting 10/1/12!!!), and waiting until I can start wearing my new FitBit One in a few weeks! I almost feel naked without it!

    @Kaliswalker Yes, you can preorder the new FitBit (One model) through the FitBit website and through Amazon. If you preorder now, they are to ship on 10/25, I think.

FitBit review--Day #1

It finally arrived yesterday!!! Excited like a kid at Christmas. Of course, it seemed to take forever to charge (about an hour) and setup my account online (5 mins). And then...wait for it....wait for it...uhm, now what????

Ok. So, the arrival of my FitBit was anti-climatic. I wanted it to do something, anything.

But, I crawled into bed (wearing it on the wristband provided in the box) and put it in sleep mode.

Woke up this am with calories burned! Gotta love that! :-)

I wore it all day and at 8:30 pm tonight, I've already burned more calories (2626) than SP says I will burn for the entire day including my afternoon run (2418).

Clearly, one day's data isn't enough to conclude anything, but now I'm wondering if I am not eating enough at 1500-ish calories a day! I'm a number cruncher by day. I'll keep track of info for a few weeks and review it all again to see if there are any trends. I am hoping, praying that I have the missing piece of my puzzle: eat a little more so my body isn't in starvation mode.

Oh-and I didn't even notice that I was wearing it all day. I feel like it may bother me on the waistband of my pants until I am below 200lbs and pants are more comfortable. So, I stuffed it in my bra. It's so small, I couldn't even feel it. The downside to "wearing" it there is not being able to check it easily. I had to let it sync to the website and view the website for stats. Very gratifying to see the "activity #" and the steps taken. I know I have a desk job, but I thought that I was a little more active than what FitBit showed. I purposely tried to be "normal" today so I could get a full day of baseline activity from FitBit. Game on tomorrow to get those numbers up, up, up!

Anyone else with a FitBit???

    Hi MNNICE! I have read where people are having problems happy I have not (yet) had that problem! Hopefully you get that fixed soon!!! I'm addicted!

    I got mine about a month ago. It's nice to be able to see how well or poorly you've slept. It's also a motivator to get in those extra steps or burn just a few more calories! The only problem I have is that mine doesn't sync very well. Seems I have to unplug the docking station and then plug it back in before the data loads onto the site. I do like it, though, and also wear it clipped to my bra -- hardly know it's there!

I do weigh myself daily. I need to. I'm too impatient to wait a whole week. I post my weekly stats on the SP virtual weigh in as well as on FB where I announced to my friends/family my lofty goal.

I admit that I was disappointed with my +.2 lbs this week even though I know it was a rough week with my birthday and my daughter's birthday celebrations...complete with dining out, cake, and ice cream.

I wallowed in my disappointment over the weekend. BUT...I have to get back at it today.

Focus, focus, focus. I CAN DO THIS!!

After yesterday's mini-breakdown, I ended up ordering a FitBit. I pray that it accurately monitors my caloric burn each day and I can adjust my intake accordingly. Seems like so many people LOVE their FitBit but some reviews on were bad. We'll see how it goes.

I did get a nice run in yesterday, and felt guilty for eating a small cupcake and 1/2 c ice cream BUT it was my birthday yesterday. I deserve a little indulgence on my birthday!

I'm going to make it!

    I have the other body monitor that the same company makes as the fitbit. I love it. My HR monitor and the gym machines were off by 200-300 calories. So basically, I thought I was burning 400 calories, I was only burning 200. That can make a real difference. I hope you like it. Good luck!

A serving of icecream and a cupcake on your birthday don't count! Now if you ate a sheet cake and a half gallon you may have over indulged.

    Happy Birthday! Of course your deserved a little treat. You have to do that once in a while to avoid falling off the wagon completely. Don't get so panicked over what the scale says every day. Things like water weight and time of the month can do nasty things on the scale. Just keep plugging away and eventually the numbers will go down!

Also - let us know what you think of FitBit. Reviews are usually unbalanced because people who feel negatively about a product are more likely to write.

    You definitely do deserve some cake and ice cream on your b-day (happy, happy by the way) and you did great at limiting it so don't beat yourself up! Can't wait to hear how the FITBIT goes for you. Keep on working and don't get discouraged. You CAN do this!!!

Starting to panic!

Last week, the weight literally fell off. 6 pounds!!

This week, I'm slowly gaining despite eating good and working out. Ugh.

I know this is a tough journey, but come on!!! I am a "numbers" person. Why can't my body react the same: 1500 calories eaten - 2000 calories burned = weight loss???????

Breathe. Count to 5.

I will succeed.

    *hugs* don't stress about it- your body isn't a machine. 6 pounds is great - but if you keep going forward, the weight will come off. Progress not perfection. You can do this!!
