OK....It's time to start AGAIN!!

Monday, May 20, 2013

Well, I have just over 5 1/2 weeks to my 30th wedding anniversary and I AM going to get into my favorite dress for it. We are planning a special cruise that week and we're even going to renew our vows!!

I started 2 weeks ago by cutting back portions, to get ready for my "official" start date of my "I'm Going to Get It Done This Time" weight loss program.

I have my journal on the kitchen counter, so everything I eat and drink will be entered.

I will write down every bit of exercise, and actually DO some exercise!!!

I plan on blogging every day, even if it's just to say I'm here..... I found that when I do journal and blog, I actually see what I'm doing or not doing. So I plan on commenting, daily, on my accomplishments and my setbacks.

I'll post some photos along the way so I can see what I'm doing. I'm pretty disgusted at one I saw last week, maybe I should put that one up as my first one.

My ultimate goal is 20 pounds by Nov. 1st and I have set some intermediate ones on the way.

My Spark Friend groups have some great challenges going on and now I'm really going to get serious, again. Thanks for all the support.

Now off to my morning walk.

Spark Recipe Blog

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Today, my Voyagers team (Wii Walk It Out) are to prepare a recipe from the Spark Recipes section. Well, we all had some challenges with this, ingredients and so forth.

I chose Red Pepper Frittata from Daisy Brand® here's the link: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-deta
il.asp?recipe=2082936

The ingredients were: with (my ingredients I used)

1.25 cups refrigerated egg product (1/2 cup Egg Beaters)
.5 cup Daisy Low Fat Cottage Cheese (none)
1 teaspoon dried Italian spices (sprinkled/dash)
.13 teaspoon black pepper (to taste)
1.5 teaspoon canola oil (Cooking Spray)
1 cup shredded baking potato (1/2 cupish Simply Potatoes shredded)
.5 cup chopped green onions (diced onions about 2 tbls ish)
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped (1 tsp)
.50 cup diced red bell pepper (diced peppers 2 tbls ish)
2 tablespoons finely shredded Parmesan cheese (2 tsps Parmesan cheese)

I did modify it somewhat by leaving out cottage cheese (yuck!) and I used cooking spray instead of canola oil.

I also made ONE for myself for breakfast, so I cut down on all the ingredients to accommodate for one. And I used the ingredients I had on hand. Instead of a baked potato, I had an open package of Simply Potatoes and used about a 1/4 cup. I have to admit, the Italian Seasoning was quite good!!!

Below are the photos from my breakfast and challenge:

Very tasty and only about 160 calories (the way I made it)

Oh my that does sound good. I agree with the cottage cheese. Maybe fat-free ricotta with its creamy consistency would work but cottage cheese lumps?
emoticonProbably a good decision to omit.

WIO Double Dare Blog

Saturday, June 09, 2012

I read the article about adding variety to walking. I usually like to walk in my neighborhood. We have a marina and each lap through is almost a mile. (from one end to the other and back). It's such a beautiful view of the water and boats, it's hard to want to change that up.

I also add variety by doing Walk It Out. Next week I am planning on going to walk on the beach, since I don't live far. I'll try walking in knee high or thigh high water for a while to add some resistance.

Go Voyagers!!!

Week 5/21 thru 5/26 summary

Monday, May 28, 2012

It's been one week since we've returned from the cruise. My goal was to get back into exercising (some kind) each day and to track my meals.

Well, the exercise part went well:
Monday - walked 3.5 miles
Tuesday - water aerobics and walking
Wednesday - sailing
Thursday - water aerobics
Friday & Saturday - yard work replacing sprinklers, digging, etc.
Sunday - walking with my husband

Tracking my meals, not quite as good:
Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday - great
Thursday & Friday - partly
Saturday & Sunday - nope

Next week's goals are the same, plus add a little more exercise.

This week my calorie intake is going to be a major goal, to stay between 1600-1800 calories a day. Last week, I was just trying to get back to real life after the cruise, but practicing writing everything down.

This week I'm adding to my goals, to drink 8 glasses of water everyday.

My goal from last Monday, 20.5 lbs by September 15th.

This week I lost only a 1/2 pound, but that's OK, I really didn't watch the calories completely.

Next week I'm striving for a least a pound.

Have a great week everyone!!!!

Great sailing day!!!

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Today, we were able to get in 2 races. The wind was fairly light, but a great day all in all. I was soooo happy, I had a 2nd in the first race and a 1st in the second race. I am learning how to sail in light wind. A heavier person, like myself, usually as difficulty in lighter wind, we usually like 8 mph or more. I think I am finally learning or listening to what I've been taught.

Also, we had a local TV station come and interview several of us for a women's sequence. They shot some footage of us sailing, and afterwards, they interviewed a couple of the women. I was just hanging around watching my friend, when they said "come on over and we can interview you." Whoa!! That was kind of scary. The whole thing lasted about 5 minutes. The episode will be aired next Wednesday!! I hope it ends up OK.

Well, back to business. So far this week, I have walked 3.4 miles, water aerobics and sailed for 3 hours. I hope that exercise will start to reduce the non-exercise from last week's cruise.

Tomorrow, water aerobics. Until then....

What a great adventure for you! I've got a student who's an international sailing competition judge and it's really intrigued me and got me interested in learning to sail. It seems tough but would certainly be an excellent challenge. Good for you!
