Determined, addicted, dedicated, crazy?

Oh these are just some of the things people have said to me about my "running":

"You must really love it.?!"
"Why do you want to do that?"
"Must be nice to take a lunch, I don't have time."
"You're going to damage your body."

Well, all I can say about that is:

Yes, I do love it.
I do it because I want to be in good physical, mental and spiritual condition.
It is great to take lunch and enjoy the sunshine in these darkest days of winter. I will come in early or stay late but I WILL NOT GIVE UP MY LUNCH!!!!
I believe that I am doing less damage to my body then what I was doing by carrying around the extra 65lbs that I used to lug everywhere that I went.

Yes, I am determined. I am determined to make myself my #1 Priority. I can do that.
I am determined to take care of myself and keep the weight off. I am determined to run more races and possibly a Half-Marathon. I am determined to show you what determination and dedication can do for the body, mind and spirit.

I will continue to RUN ON! (Like a crazy woman) : )

    Those people envy you your strength and courage, that's all. They'd love to be just like you, they're just afraid to admit it. Enjoy your running. I look forward to hearing if you decide to do a half.

    Of course, what these people are sayong is more about themselves then about you. Most people realize they need to get off their duff and exercise. You are just reminding them that they need to get going. The comments are really their justification for being lazy.

    Ugh, that's annoying, isn't it? When I hear it I either smile and walk away or say "Of course you wouldn't understand, it's a running thing." Or "I run for sanity, not vanity...and it can get ugly if I stop."

It's really difficult to tell people what you get from running if they aren't runners themselves. *You* just keep running and reaping the benefits. If you need another runner to gush to about an amazing run (or a crummy one) or to talk about goals or races, please come find me :)

Wow! What a year 2011 has been. If the "old" (2011) was good imagine what the "new" (2012) can be like. Great things begin to happen when you make yourself a priority. My health and happiness is mostly up to me and how I treat myself.

I am much happier when I take care of myself. When I exercise, eat right and get enough sleep I feel so much better all the way around. Amazing how such seemingly simple things can make or break my day. I have great struggles with making me a priority some days. When I stick to my guns and say "I must do this first for me", everything else always seems to work out. The world doesn't stop spinning when I go and exercise or even go to bed a little earlier. I may stress a little more wondering how will I get it all done but I always seem to manage.

Some people think I am obsessed. I honestly don't think that I am. I just know that I must make this a priority if I am going to keep the weight off and be healthy. I have been maintaining my weight for 20 months. That is awesome and that is what happens you MAKE YOU A PRIORITY!

    Sounds like a good self pep talk. I know that when I'm balanced, the world is a better place and people find me easier to get along with :). This would be a good blog to come back to when you need a self reminder ;)

Finally feel good enough to go and walk/run! Not up to full speed and a complete run but I did run today! 3 miles! I would say 60% walking and 40% running. Woohoo!

My lungs were putting up a little protest but my body was all for it! So was my mind. I am a runner and I have got to run! did this happen?

My son and I were talking about my race coming up on Saturday and how I would do since I have been sick. He said "Is it a 5K?" and I replied "Yeah it's just a 5K, I could do that in my sleep". Ha ha! I really have come along way.

This is a great quote for me. I try very hard not to make excuses and do what needs to get done. Instead of listening to the reasons why I can't, I tell myself HOW I CAN!

"No excuses, only results"
I know when I am BSing myself. I've got the committee in my head telling me so.

I cannot run today, but I can do some resistance band exercises and light stretching.
Again, it starts with my choices.

Life in the slow lane.

I have been in the slow lane this week and I don't like it. I have been fighting a cold and it is quite a battle. I thought I should just take it easy and let it take it's course. Rest would be good for me and maybe the rest would make the cold go easier and faster. Well it did not.

I have Asthma and I am very susceptible to Bronchitis. I know that I need to take it easy or I could be in trouble. I have lost my voice and I feel like doggie do-do. I did go for a nice easy hike yesterday for about 2 hours with my son and that was real nice. The sunshine and fresh air felt great.

I have a 5k coming up on Saturday and I wanted to try to PR but it looks like I may just have to settle for finishing. Oh well, I guess all things considered, "just finishing" isn't so bad.

Please pass the tissues. Sniffle.
