Weekend Highlights

Sunday, October 28, 2012

So Friday I receive a call from my grandson asking if I would pick him up another pumpkin on the way over to his house because the one he carved at our house last weekend has rotted. So a little while later DH and I brought him the pumpkin he requested than the three of us left to go to his school to paint a ceiling tile. emoticon Our creation turned out to be a mix mash of colors, animals, a rainbow, sun and more. Not exactly sure what the theme was emoticon with its flying animals, standing lizard and Olympic climbing squirrel but we had fun nevertheless. After we were through my grandson asked if he could do another one with us next year so I think our efforts were successful.

Saturday, the grandson and his soccer team, The Eagles WON their final game of the season 5-1. emoticon They finished UNDEFEATED! emoticon DH and I were happy we could be there to see it! After the game families took pictures of the team mates. There are 3 little girls on the same team as my grandson who appear to like him… A LOT! His mom, dad and I convinced the little guy to stand next to two of them for a photo op. He folded his arms shyly, grinned and did as we asked but just as we got him to stand a bit closer, the 3rd little girl happily popped up on the other side of him. My grandson quickly covered his face with his hands as if to say, “Oh No, I’m surrounded!” It was so cute but unfortunately no one got a picture of it. Next up for the grandson sport-wise, BASKETBALL!

Afterwards DH and I headed back to where we live for our town’s annual Halloween Festival. Our daughter, grandson and Dan (daughter’s long time boyfriend) followed. At the festival we met up with a good friend, JB who joined my grandson in costume. Festival goers loved it. I'm not sure who was more thrilled to see them, the kids, or the adults. emoticon

The festival itself was great! It was packed full of games, prizes, costumes, a parade, music, food, fun, and more. We had a splendid day together and the grandson came away with wonderful memories and a pumpkin full of candy and other treats. I am pleased my grandson had an awesome time and that everything went well. Could not have asked for more!

As for today, I relaxed. I did A LOT of walking yesterday (very proud of that), up and down hilly streets and my legs and knees are letting me know I got in a good workout. emoticon Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend too!

Upcoming Plans

Friday, October 26, 2012

I enjoyed my day of rest yesterday even though I had a time of it sleep wise again last night. Guess I'm still a bit wired and not able to fully let go enough to sleep well. Hopefully this evening will help with that. DH spoke to our daughter last night and she has said okay to us continuing with plans to paint ceiling tiles tonight with the grandson for his school. She has also said yes to us attending his soccer game and the Halloween Festival with him tomorrow as we had previously planned on. Those last two events include sharing the grandson's company with her and her boyfriend so I'm not sure how it will all workout. I will do my best however to focus on my grandson and ignore anything else that might occur.

Today I have some small projects to complete before DH and I head over to pick up the grandson for painting duty. Looking forward to having a productive day and later some creative fun with the little guy! emoticon

Weigh In

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Dropped 2 lbs this week. I am really happy with that but had a very rough day and night yesterday. Turned out to be a horrible in fact. One word: DAUGHTER. Cried most of it. I have laid low the last few weeks concerning her yet still she finds something to scream at me for, or degrade me over. Seeing more and more that nothing will change. She hates me and isn't about to feel any differently anytime soon, if ever. Won't be seeing the grandson today as planned. She took that time away. Still have Friday though (painting school ceiling tiles with the little guy) most likely because it's already paid for by DH and me. Not sure yet about his soccer game nor the Halloween Festival on Saturday. All I do know for certainty is I'm tired. Bone tired, physically and emotionally drained from her hatefulness and abuse. Think it might be wise to have the husband deal with her from now on when it comes to arranging time with our grandson or anything else for that matter. It's very sad that I have come to a point where I would rather not see nor hear from her at all. Feeling very raw today. Think I will just go back to bed. emoticon

I think that you have made a very wise choice.... let DH deal with the daughter and YOU take care of YOU! Bright blessings to you my friend.

WOW!! You did great on the weight loss Sallie. Just think about how great you are doing with that. I agree, let your hubby deal with daughter. I know I haven't been chatting with our younger daughter as much as I used to--I let hubby deal with her. If she wants to fuss with/at me, I just hang up and don't answer if she calls back so she will have to text hubby. (((HUGS))) emoticon emoticon emoticon

Congrats on the weight loss emoticon emoticon
I think you are probably wise in letting DH handle interaction with your daughter. Don't let her "problem" ruin your mood or your day.
YOU ARE LOVED! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Happy Monday!

Monday, October 22, 2012

Toe is still out of commission as far as sneakers go. Nevertheless I'll find other things to do besides walking for exercise. No worries! Might try some chair exercise to get in some fitness minutes until my toe is better. Weigh in is tomorrow. I am actually looking forward to it. Now there's a shock! emoticon Plans this week include dropping off the last of my painted pumpkins to the grandson tomorrow, painting ceiling tiles with him for his school on Friday evening, grandson's soccer game on Saturday, and the Halloween Festival with the little guy, his mommy and her boyfriend also on Saturday. In other words LOTS of grandson time! emoticon

Make today a good one! No matter how you feel, MOVE that body. It's good for you!!

Best Laid Plans

Sunday, October 21, 2012

sometimes just don't work out. I went to put on my walking shoes yesterday so that I could begin a regular walking routine. However my injured toe had other plans entirely. Seems I can only wear my flats somewhat comfortably if I absolutely have to. Actually the toe has been a bit more painful the pass 2 days than I remember it being on Thursday when I stubbed it. Than again it could be that I was just too frustrated by all that went down that day I didn't make too much note of it. Anyway I think I will rest it again today and see what it feels like tomorrow.

In the meantime, I want to thank my Sparkfriends for the feedback on a walking DVD. Everyone who responded suggested Leslie Sansone. So I ordered the Walk Start by Leslie Sansone for those days when it is too cold, rainy, etc outside to walk. It has a 1 and 2 mile walk. I will have it by week's end. Certainly the toe should be shoe ready by that time. I can't wait to try it out. emoticon

Happy Sunday everyone!

I have the Leslie Sansone walk DVD and love it. I also love to follow along with the strength and toning video's here on SP. If you haven't tried them go to "Healthy Lifestyles " at top of page, go down to "videos" and choose any that interest you. Love then. emoticon
